Work Text:

The heated water encompassed Sera's aching body, holding the same warmth as the gentle arms that wrapped around her. This was all she needed after a night of soft passion. The soft care of her beloved.

The slight pang of exertion in her thighs faded when she melted into the hot water. She molded perfectly to Ray, his lean chest a solid reassurance against her sore back. His fluffy hair tickled her neck as he pressed featherlight kisses to her skin. He peppered them along her neck and shoulder, smile pressed to her hair when Sera giggled.

He spent careful minutes wiping down her body beneath the water, focusing on lightly washing her thighs, making sure not to apply pressure on sore spots. He then cleaned her whole body with soap, allowing her to do the same for him before turning her back around to press her back to his front.

Rayson gathered up the silky waves of her blood red hair, combing his fingers through the tangles. Sera leaned her head back, sighed softly, and let her eyes fall shut with a hum of content. Ray reached over to the right and gathered shampoo into his hand before working it into the roots of her hair. His fingers were gentle on her scalp, moving in circular motions to bubble up the shampoo.

Sera felt blissful. She wished she could simply curl against him and never leave. She wished she could melt into his body, to live within his ribs in place of the heart she adored so. He wouldn't mind. Another sigh left her when he helped her rinse out the hair wash, his knees framing her body.

"I can help you with your hair oils before bed, would you like that?" Ray offered gently, arms now around her waist, chin on her shoulder. She nodded slowly. Drowsiness was seeping into her body with every soothing moment spent in the tub.

He chuckled, eyes bright with amusement. He pressed a kiss to her temple and stood, climbing out before guiding her up and out. Once the water was drained from the bath, they donned their nightwear and tied up the last bits of nightly routine.

Ray was already in bed when Sera crawled in, settling down beside him. Her head settled on his chest, body curled up to him. They molded together perfectly, two wings of a bird. Hopeless without each other. His arms wrapped tightly around her. Tight, but not trapping, not cruel. Just desperate. To never let go.

"You are everything." He breathed shakily, voice so overwhelmingly full of adoration.

"You are eternity." She murmured in return, smiling up at him. Her heart ached with how much she loved this man. She would give anything just to see that look in his eyes again. The one he gave her right now that had her pressing closer and shutting her eyes.

They might not be able to stay here for forever, but she could pretend. She could fall asleep and pretend they never left this room, never walked onto a battlefield, never witnessed war.

That's what she'd dream about.

A world where that never happened.
