Work Text:

It was Easter once again.

Every year, four Event Toons would be let out of their imprisonment for a month. Then after that, it's back in the cell they go! Said four Event Toons were Bassie; The main character, Cocoa; The bunny who looked too much like chocolate, Flyte; Flutter's older brother, and finally, Eggson!

In Yatta's opinion, Eggson should've been the main character of Easter. He was the oldest out of them and his stories were interesting, if not the best part of the Easter Event, in her opinion. But she wasn't the one in charge unfortunately, and Eggson has been given the role of being a background character like Yatta.

At least that meant she could spend more time with Eggson, since he doesn't have to be on-screen all the time. Speaking of which, Eggson's screentime was finished, giving the Piñata Toon the opportunity to approach him and greet him.

"HI, EGGSON!!! You did great!" Yatta screamed at the top of her lungs, a grin spreading across her face as she stood just a meter away from the creme brulee egg. Her scream captured some attention, but after realizing it came from her, they paid no mind. "Oh hello, Yatta! Thank you, I try my best." Eggson chuckled as he adjusted his glasses. "What are you up to?" He asked her, shifting in his place while conversing with the ever-so-energetic toon.

Yatta hummed and placed a finger on her chin as she thought about his question... Well, more like she pretended to. "I was thinking of hanging out with you!" She says, rocking back and forth in her feet. "You know, since you finished your lines and all!" Eggson let out a soft chuckle at that, enjoying Yatta's energetic response and attitude.

"Why, of course! Would you like to go egg hunting with me today?" Eggson asked as he pulled a basket out of nowhere. It didn't cross Yatta's mind to question it, nodding her head eagerly at the thought of spending time with Eggson. "YEAH!!! That'd be fun!"

"Yatta, please control the volume of your voice. We're in the middle of a recording." Astro said as he clutched his blanket tighter, which made the piñata girl flustered as she awkwardly scratched the back of her head. "Sorry, Astro!" Yatta apologized before grabbing Eggson's hand, surprising the older man and running out of the studio.

Yatta walked around the building for awhile, Eggson trailing behind her as she still kept a firm hold of his hand. It took a few more minutes of wandering before the elder egg began to speak. "Are you sure you know where you're going, Yatta?" Yatta turned her head to make eye contact with Eggson, letting go of his hand for a moment.

"NOPE!!! I guess I'm just walking around and admiring Gardenview!.. Hehe..." Yatta shrugged despite the fact that she's seen this place many times, earning a sigh from the older man as he goes to grab her hand again, his grip gentle as he starts leading her somewhere, presumably to where the egg hunt took place. "Follow me."

They eventually arrived where the competition took place. A nice area that resembled the outside world that both Yatta and Eggson wished to see, but since they weren't allowed outside Gardenview property, they never got the opportunity to. The only hints they got were from places like this or from scripts of episodes. They never dared to complain about it though. It was risky!

Yatta was given her own basket, becoming a participant of the egg hunt. She and Eggson exchanged glances, sharing a look of challenge. Eventually, the hunt began and the pair ran off in opposite directions. Occasionally, the two would stop by and talk about what they've found or what happened while trying to find eggs before parting ways again. Yatta could've sworn though, that she saw Eggson holding something. She couldn't quite make out what it was but she knew it had something to do with the hunt.

Yatta decided not to snitch.

The Piñata Toon walked around, looking for any remaining eggs, eventually stumbling upon Eggson once again. "HI, EGGSON!!! Any clue where the remaining eggs are?" Yatta yelled, startling the poor old man as he swiftly turned around and let out a breath of relief upon seeing who it was.

"Yatta! You scared me."

"Sorry!"

"It's alright. You wanted to see where the remaining eggs are, correct?" Yatta nodded rapidly, making a rattling sound from the sweets inside of her. She isn't a piñata for no reason! "Look up." Without questioning it, Yatta tilts her head up, her eyes meeting with the egg which was stuck in a tree!

"HOW'D THAT GET UP THERE!?!" Yatta yelled from the top of her lungs, her eyes wide as she stared at the egg sitting on a branch of the tree. "And more importantly, how are we gonna get it down!?"

"Aren't you great at climbing things?" Eggson asked as he raised an eyebrow at the Piñata Toon, who placed her hands on her hips at the question. "I'm great at climbing vents, not trees!" The elder toon nodded at that, putting a finger on his chin as he thought about how to get the egg down. He looked at the egg, then back at Yatta, then at the egg again. Then it clicked! "I have an idea, but I'm going to need your help, Yatta."

"Whatever it takes to get the egg down!" Yatta grinned, making Eggson chuckle at her hyper energy as he looked back up at the egg which remained stuck on the tree. "I reckon I could climb up that tree and retrieve that egg." He suggested, smirking as he stared up at the egg, the slight shift in the Piñata Toon's expression went unnoticed by Eggson. "Aren't you too old for that?" Yatta's eyebrows furrowed with a hint of concern. Eggson turned back at the younger toon, who wore an offended expression, though it didn't seem sincere.

Eggson cleared his throat. "Nonsense! I may be old but there are still some things I can do." Yatta thought about what the older man said. He knew that Eggson could potentially get hurt trying to climb a tree, but at the same time, she wanted to see if he could actually climb one and get down unscathed. Plus, it'd be nice to have another thing in common with Eggson. "OKAY!!! Go ahead!"

"Hold my cane." Eggson says, handing Yatta his cane. He walked up to the tree, rolling up his sleeves before then grabbing the bark with his palm. The Piñata girl watched with curiosity as Eggson began to slowly make his way up the tree, eventually reaching the branch the egg was stuck on. "I got it!" He yelled down at Yatta, about to make his way down but the branch shook, causing Eggson to trip and fall off the tree.

Yatta's heart leapt into her throat, dropping everything she was holding in that moment and stretching her arms out in hopes of catching the egg toon. Thankfully, he did manage to fall into her arms safely. They stare at each other for a moment, their faces just inches away from each other before Eggson turned away, probably embarrassed. Yatta couldn't help but giggle at the sight. Oh, how she loved this stupid elder.

She puts him down on the ground, the older toon dusting off his shirt. "You're not going to tell anyone about this... are you?.." Yatta could see a bead of sweat trickle down his head. She couldn't help but chuckle at his words. "No no, don't worry, I'm not a snitch." Yatta smiled, picking up the egg that was almost forgotten on the ground and putting it in Eggson's basket. That would've been the end of it if it weren't for Eggson grabbing the same egg and handing it to Yatta.

"What? Eggson, you were the one who climbed the tree, you deserve to have it!"

"I know I know... but you saved me from breaking my bones and turning into ashes. I believe you should have it!"

"But you worked hard to get the egg! All i did was catch you. I think you deserve it."

The pair fell into an argument about whoever should have the egg. It went on for minutes before the two eventually decided that Eggson should keep it. Yatta held a proud grin, taking pride in the fact that she was simply too stubborn for Eggson.

She didn't notice the older toon sneaking in two eggs into her basket.
