Work Text:
“Hi” Yelena said simply, looking towards the lump in the corner that she presumed to be Bob. A small grunt, almost a whine, came from the man. So he’s having a bad day, Yelena thought, moving towards him. He had on and off days during the winter, having almost no where to go and no motivation to do anything. Yelena gently laid a hand on Bob’s shoulder and he slightly flinched before looking back at her with the saddest eyes she’d ever seen. Her heart almost broke as he said, barely above a whisper, “why”. “‘Why’ what Bob?” She asked and he turned his head away to look at the floor. “Bob, please, I can’t help you if you’re not willing to talk to me.” At that he lifted his head up slightly. “I feel like a burden.” He admitted, sighing like a weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. “Bob,” Yelena cooed, “You are not a burden, you never have been and never will be.” Bob turned and looked at her fully, “really?” He asked, unsure of himself. “Really.” She affirmed. “Now, come here.” She held her arms out for an invitation to hug. Bob gladly accepted. He wasn’t 100% yet, but they were getting there, that’s all that mattered.
