Work Text:
In this world, there are curses. An ugly, revolting, part of humans that somehow came to life. It comes from the worst part of humans. Hatred, despair, shame, guilt, you name it all. It is born from strong emotions and creates a mind of its own.
Although it has a mind of its own, it does not have intellect. It does whatever it wants, thinking it's the right thing to do. Very much like humans.
Curses are all around the corners of the world but not everyone can see them. Only a small number of people can, and thus, they would be forced to work as a job called sorcerer. Sorcerers would have to extinguish these curses and bring world peace.
World peace, my ass.
Getou Suguru. A second-year at Jujutsu High. The boy who somehow got Cursed Spirit Manipulation through some miracle.
I wouldn't call it a miracle.
Well, unless you count vomiting your stomach out, being stuck in a toilet stall for countless hours, paralyzed and eventually pass out a good thing.
Ever since Getou got his cursed technique, he thought that it would be cool to save people like in those superhero movies. Saving everyone from behind, making sure the innocents are safe. Until the depressing realisation came crashing at him, full speed.
"Mama, mama! Look!" Getou cheerily said, jumping in places. Getou didn't remember what her mother said, but after he replied to her, the face of his mother was etched into his brain.
The face of realisation, the face of disappointment, the face of desperation and the face of anger was on his mother's face, seemingly only realising now that her son wasn't as normal as they were. He was only five at the time, nearly turning six. But he was still smart, he wasn't stupid.
Well, his mother said otherwise.
"I think there's something wrong with him." Getou Suguru was only six when he was at the top of the stairs, eavesdropping on his parents.
"I know, honey, but what can we do?" His father replied. "All we have to do is wait for a few years, then he'll leave for high school and we can start a new life." Without him, was left unsaid, but Getou knew it.
Getou Suguru was only six when his heart dropped, hearing the hurtful words come out of his own biological father's mouth.
"No!" His mother yelled. Slamming the table with her hands with such strength that some plates shattered from falling off the table. "I won't wait that long! We should just throw him into a mental hospital, and leave! I won't wait for so long just for a piece of garbage to be discarded!"
His mother was yelling more than usual today, making his ears hurt, his heart is also beating a lot faster today, his eyes are teary, but why? Why? He doesn't understand. What did he do that was so awful that his own parents would say this to their own son?
The tears that were kept in his eyes began to fall, streaming down his cheeks. He didn't let out his sobs, as much as he wanted to, he couldn't. He couldn't show that he was weaker than they thought he was.
Getou Suguru was fourteen when he was recruited by a senior sorcerer that goes by the name "Yaga Masamichi".
...
Somehow, Geto got picked as a sorcerer. Not just any ordinary sorcerer, a special-grade sorcerer. He was recruited by Yaga-sensei at 14 years old, but he hasn't become a sorcerer yet.
He was training for 7 years, after two years after getting his technique, trying to perfect them, making his technique grow more stronger.
Once in a while, Yaga would check up on him, seeing his improvement. He would praise him, saying things like "Good job, I'm proud of you", "You've done well." Like what his parents were supposed to do.
When he reached 14 years old, he was assigned to study at Jujutsu High, a school for jujutsu sorcerers to further understand the concept of jujutsu and perfect their technique. There's only a few jujutsu schools, considering the fact that there's only a small number of people who can use jujutsu. So, Getou wasn't surprised to see that he had only two classmates.
Gojo Satoru and Shoko Ieiri.
Shoko Ieiri
Gender: Female
Date of birth: 7/11/1989
Grade: Grade 1 Sorcerer
Cursed technique: Reversed Curse Technique
Reverse cursed technique converts cursed energy into positive energy to regenerate flesh and heal injuries. Cursed energy comes from negative emotions, unfit for healing living things. Reverse cursed technique uses the principle of multiplying a negative by another negative to produce a positive. While cursed energy flows from the gut, the brain directs reverse cursed technique.
Reversed Curse Technique? Getou never heard of it before, but judging from the description, it's a healing technique, able to regenerate flesh and heal injuries. But, wouldn't that mean she couldn't go into battles, she, instead, would be the doctor? That would be very useful, Getou held some kind of respect for her now. The first classmate, Ieiri Shoko, looked to be a relaxed and chill person.
However, the second one...
Gojo Satoru
Gender: Male
Date of birth: 7/12/1989
Grade: Special-Grade Sorcerer
Cursed Technique: Limitless Cursed Technique
Inherited technique passed down in the Gojo Clan. This technique brings the concept of "Infinity" into reality, allowing the user to manipulate and distort space at will.
Wow.
That was all Getou could think. Even if Getou has never heard of Limitless Cursed Technique, he can still know that it's strong, stronger than his, judging from its description. Getou was surprised to see that he was a special-grade sorcerer too, not because of his strength, but rather because of the shock of realising that him and this guy are basically on the same amount of strength.
After reading what his cursed technique was, Getou looked at the guy's picture, which was... interesting..
Don't blame him! He never saw anyone out in the street with glowing, white hair and a pair of pristine, blue eyes, making them look like a glowing star, literally. Adding onto his weirdness, he also wore sunglasses, which covered his sea coloured eyes. Making him look like the type of guy to annoy everyone for his amusement.
What a weirdo.
Well, looks like his years at Jujutsu High would be at least, exciting. And not just staying in his bathroom, hunched up on the toilet, feeling the bile rising in his throat and vomit, just to repeat this cycle, again and again and again and again and ag-
'Okay' Getou thought. 'I really need these thoughts to get out of my head, fast.'
Getou doesn't know if he's excited, nervous, scared or all of the above when he went to Jujutsu High for the first time.
...
It was the day. The day that he will move to Kyoto and kiss goodbye to his hometown. Not exactly a kiss. His hometown was shitty, including his parents. His parents looked sad, tears forming in their eyes. Getou knew it was tears of joy, rather than tears of sadness. He knew what was behind those faces of them.
He was planning to go to school using a car with his parents until a fucking limousine just came by and the driver said "Suguru Geto, forgive us for forgetting to inform you, we have prepared a vehicle for you to go to Jujutsu High. However, you can still choose to go with your parents if you like."
Getou accepted the offer without a second thought. Why wouldn't he? So far, his parents are the shittiest parents he has ever seen. He thinks that he's more ecstatic than them about him getting out of this town.
Tokyo sounds a lot better than the constant yelling, shouting, and plates shattering in his house. Tokyo is very crowded. It's filled with cars honking, people chatting, streets that are filled with hundreds of people. While Getou likes places with a calm atmosphere, wind breezing softly, the tree leaves falling as gracefully as a swan. His hometown was perfect, but alas, it was filled with people who are absolutely disgusting.
He still remembers his desk being filled with insults written with permanent markers. Words like ugly, weak, loser and others were not unfamiliar words. He would get called that everyday. But he couldn't care less.
"We're here."
Damn it, Getou cursed to himself. He was too busy thinking about his hometown, he forgot to look at the view. Nevermind, he could do that on any other day.
Before the driver could open the door for him, the task was already fulfilled, as he hopped out of the car. It was evening already, but the sun's striking sunlight almost burned his eyes.
Once he opened his eyes, he saw a tall, broad figure in front of him. "Good evening, Getou Suguru. I hope there are no problems during the trip." Said Yaga Masamichi, his mentor/teacher.
He bowed to Principal Yaga and reached out his hand for a handshake, which was reciprocated. "Good evening to you too, Principal Yaga." He responded.
"There were no problems, it was a great opportunity to view this city." Getou lied but it was just a white lie, couldn't hurt anybody. Yaga spoke back.
"Good to hear that" Getou looked back to see the secretary holding his luggage, that was taken by him while giving his thanks. Yaga was already walking ahead of him, and Getou followed him from behind.
