Work Text:

Right after the whole plane crash after bartons party and the big reveal of O being the master. Him and Cyrus were debriefing in his tardis since he was certain the doctor had no way of surviving that bomb plus the crash. The master was standing hunched over his desk full of papers, they didn't really take the time to read through it they just knew it was important and it shouldn't be messed with.

"You were so soft spoken as O" Cyrus spoke up seemingly out of nowhere with a playful grin on their face, always standing close to the master cause they were so used to it before.

"Had to get in character, hadn't I?" The master replied to them without looking up from his files, he was rechecking on his plans for the 50th time and then his backup plans aswell.

"Yes, but it seems so genuine like it was true when you said those nice things like 'it's such a pleasure to see you again, dear doctor' very sweet" They half mocked him with a sly smile on their face and that seemed to earn then a slight cock of his head to look up at them.

"What are you implying?" He shot them a raised eyebrow with an unamused expression rested plainly on his face. They couldn't help but chuckle at the sight.

"If I say what im truly implying, you might kill me,"

"Trust me, I would've done that a long time ago if I could" He shrugged and rolled his eyes at them before going back to checking his papers, and then there was a little smirk on his face that he didn't realize even was there.

"Oh I know.." They smiled at him, their eyes silently taking in every feature of his face while he wasn't even looking at them. Looking away from him after a few seconds of silence and clearing their throat.

"Isn't Barton going to get here anytime soon?" They asked now with their gaze on the dancing metal lady that the master had in the tardis. Those kasaavin people looked so powerful that it never failed to send their feather into a shiver, just their presence brings them back to their own home.

The master only hummed as to give them some sort of answer, they looked back at him with a soft scoff knowing he's going to be ignoring them for the time being. He always does this, gets too deep in his own mind and thoughts that he doesn't even care that they're there.

"I think he's already here, master"

"Alright"
".. I'm going to leave you forever, master"

"Yep, sounds lovely"

"Do you think the doctor survived?"

Then he immediately stood up, back straight, his eyes piercing into theirs. Cyrus stepped back as a flinch from it as if he was threatening them with a knife. "What did you say."

"Oh so you can hear me?" They rolled their eyes at him. The master groaned and quickly sunk back into his plans until Barton, the man himself opened the door and let himself inside.

They immediately vanished from sight, hiding where they've always hid, in a sort of spiritual realm if they had to put it into words, they do miss always being omniscient while looking after the master, less of a hassle but they've grown to like being around him even with his sudden outbursts and total tantrums whenever his plans go haywire.

Speaking of total tantrums, whilst Cyrus was zoned out, the master was busy talking with Daniel Barton about the whole plane crash, he had found out that the doctor somehow survived? They had to admit that was pretty impressive but not surprising since she is the doctor. However they'd definitely get thrown into a black hole if the master heard them say that out loud though.

"How did she survive that?!" The master shouted, his hands slam down on the wooden table full of papers scattered here and there, pushing all the contents on the table onto the ground in anger. Barton consoled him in a way, just to get him back on track.

Their head turned when they heard a beeping sound come from the monitor, the master had exclaimed at the same time that it was beeping because it found when and where the doctor was. The master gave them an answer before they could even question it themselves.

The master then practically shoved the other man out of his tardis, shutting the door loudly. It looked like steam was about to start spewing from his ears. Cyrus decided it was safe enough to be seen again with Barton gone, yet they stayed silent even if the silence felt like it was burning them alive.

Gods this is going to be a hard and long mission.
