He still couldn't believe this was happening, that he had gotten to where he is now from where he was before.
Ever since Egon was a child, he always felt like he was different from most children his age. Yes he was incredibly gifted, and skipped ahead from elementary to high school, plus graduated 𝘸𝘢𝘺 earlier than his peers just in the sixth grade. But that wasn't what was different about him. From the moment he gained consciousness, Egon knew his physical appearance didn't match the one his brain was telling. Egon Spengler knew from a very early age, there must have been some evolutionary error that made him be born female rather than male.
And for the rest of his childhood and adolescence, anyone he had told his hypothesis or theories as to why such an error happened, and that he wasn't the only one. He received Less than favorable looks and responses, he didn't understand what the problem was... Or maybe the problem was him?
When it was time for Egon to leave home and head off to Columbia University, he came to the conclusion as any does with an error. Fix it, and he never went back home or spoke to his parents again. Some years went by, and he slowly became what he should have been all along. Though he was cautious about who he surrounded himself with, and avoided going to the doctor's unless it was absolutely necessary or if he had no choice.
He was more than thankful that he had Peter and Ray to trust, times may have progressed but not enough for people like him to just exist like everyone else. He didn't put a specific label on his sexuality, since the thought of it was purely a human concept and it didn't apply in nature anyway. He did like one girl, Sue. And she liked him, but neither felt anything more than a mutual understanding. Which is what led to what he would, and will always consider to be the best thing that ever happened in his life. granted, it was the first and last time he'd ever let Peter convince him to have anything with alcohol. But, the one night stand did lead to him making his greatest achievement. His daughter.

It wasn't the most conventional course of action, but he didn't have a choice. He couldn't get a hold of his roommate or friends, and the pain was getting worse. The contractions were two minutes apart now, and it didn't help that the walls and his and Sue's apartment were paper thin and they had nosey neighbors. He grabbed the first aid kit he prepared specifically for a scenario like his current one, and made his way to the front door. It took a great deal of effort, but once the engine was started. Egon drove away, he knew that he needed medical help. But he couldn't risk it... He 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵.
What would they think if they saw a pregnant man, would they not believe him and have him committed, wearing those restricting, God awful straight jackets? Or worse, would they deem him unfit cause of their twisted agenda and take the baby from him?
"I won't let anything happen to you, right now it's us against the world- Ah!" He groaned, gripping onto the steering wheel as if his life depended on it. He couldn't just drive around aimlessly, none of this was ideal. But he was never one to give up easily, he huffed, before making a turn into a forested area. Driving deeper in, until he parked the car. There he was, in pain... and alone.
He took a few deep breaths, making sure the first aid was within reach as he moved from the driver's seat to the back. Pushing the chair forward so he had enough room, hastily placing what blankets were in the back on the floor. Checking twice to see if they had suitable cushioning, the last thing he wanted was the baby entering the world and they were hurt.
Egon wasn't sure back then why he kept thinking the baby was a girl, even though boys were common in his family. So why was he the exception?
But he didn't have time to dwell on that, leaning against the headrest and kneeling as much as he could in the cramped space, he began pushing. "Ah, c-come on baby. You can do it!" He wasn't sure if it was the baby he was speaking to or mostly to himself. As he gritted his teeth and strained more, he suddenly felt a sudden splash! He hadn't realized his water hadn't broke yet. "Oh, god- NGHH, Ah!" He cried out in a broken moan, holding his stomach in a protective manner. "Oo-oh, it's alright. We're gonna get through this." He stuttered.
Over the next few agonizing minutes, almost a full hour. The broken sobs and screaming were all but concealed within the forest, with some help from the car's radio. Egon panted heavily, his hands trembling and his forehead slick with sweat and he let out one finale groan and pushed.
He felt something fall, a slight weight lifted from his stomach. Lost in the moment of relief, he almost didn't hear the small crying from below. The baby was so small, covered in amniotic fluids. He slowly turned on his back, sitting against the backseat. Focusing his eyes down on the infant, he was okay. He- She was a girl
It must have been such a shock to her, one minute she was nestled safe and warm inside her father's womb. Now, she was somewhere unfamiliar. Cold, dark, surrounded by material she never felt before. It was understandable why she'd be crying, her tiny but strong lungs taking in the air, and she had no idea what was going on. "Oh god-" He leaned down, grabbing the small infant from the floor, wrapping her securely in the blankets. She was here, she was here in his arms. She was real. "Shh, I-it's okay. I got you, everything's alright. Daddy's here... My sweet baby girl." He spoke softly, holding the baby close to his chest despite his own shakiness, and the feeling of being terrified. It practically went away completely when he held his daughter close, as his heart seemed to flood with the type of love he'd never felt before.
"I will 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 be here for you... My greatest invention." He wasn't sure how he was gonna navigate the next few years, but one thing was certain.
He would always make sure the baby in his arms would be cared for and loved. No matter what.
