Work Text:
Castorice and Mydei were close for as long as they could remember, always trying to find that extra bit of time they could spend together. Whether that was Mydei taking Castorice to see a movie on the weekend, or Castorice inviting Mydei over for a night of watching videos while she crocheted.
They were inseparable, and even when they couldn't be together in person, they would call each other on the phone. Castorice had plenty of hobbies that she loved to share with Mydei, starting with just lending him a romance novel to read through, and, to her surprise, he came back the next day with a glowing review and asked her for more recommendations. That day, they browsed through her book shelves and picked out a few more for him to read, ending with them practically having their own book club for two.
The next hobby she would share with him ended up being the type of games she enjoyed most, those being relaxing farming simulators like Stardew Valley and Story of Seasons. It started with her streaming the games for him over discord, but when Mydei's birthday came around she gifted him a copy of Stardew Valley on Steam, the two of them starting a farm together soon after.
Then came her hobby of baking, which Mydei had already come to appreciate each time he would arrive at her place and be met with something fresh from the oven. When Castorice offered to teach him he eagerly accepted, starting off making a loaf of sourdough bread together, but as time went on and Mydei baked more, him and Castorice would end up sampling the other's recipes each time they would spend time together.
Castorice had wanted to share her hobby of building Lego sets with him as well, but that unfortunately was a bit too expensive for him, so she decided to start teaching him how to sew instead, so at the very least he could patch up any tears in his clothes. It was challenging for him at first, and he poked his finger with the needle more times than he wanted to admit, but when he made his first accessory for himself the sense of accomplishment made any pain the process held obsolete.
After that came Castorice's love of music, the two of them spending the whole afternoon in her room as she played songs for Mydei on her acoustic guitar, singing along with that adorably soft voice of hers. She ended up giving Mydei lessons on how to play the guitar, and although Mydei would favor the electric guitar in his own time, when it was just the two of them he would play those same songs on his own acoustic guitar.
Even though Mydei was usually very secretive about his hobbies, he did have one that he wanted to share with Castorice, painting miniatures and using them for war games. It came naturally to him when he first started on his own, thanks in no small part to the treasure trove of tutorials and advice online, so by the time he introduced Castorice to the hobby he was able to make sure that she was set up for success. The army he played was a tide of silver, unending legions of immortal machines with technology the likes of which outclassed anything humanity could create. Castorice's army, on the other hand, was as graceful as she was, from the smallest infantry unit to the largest Wraithbone constructs. The colors she had picked were, unsurprisingly, white and purple, with Mydei even teaching her how to use modeling putty to sculpt flowers onto her models.
To Mydei's surprise, she was actually the first of them to start a second army, picking one that reminded her of him. She ended up deciding on the ninth legion, clad in red, black, and gold. Practically every weekend they would end up enjoying these hobbies together, frequently visiting game stores and book stores as well.
When the time came and Mydei knelt in front of her with a gorgeous ring, she immediately said yes, and just a few weeks later she said the most important words of her life.
"I do."
