Out of all the things to happen to Yangyang, sharing a meal with an internationally wanted criminal was beyond what she could’ve though of. Of course I wouldn’t have thought of this because the mere thought is worth dismissing based on its absurdity alone. And yet, sitting across the table, messily slurping away on some noodles, was Scar. Someone who, of course, fit that description to a tee.
“Why must my life be so…eventful?” She quietly huffs to herself, picking at her own noodles with detached interest. They were slightly burnt and crispy in the middle, a casualty of Scar’s disastrous attempt at cooking. Fortunately, she managed to save them before they were charred to a crisp. I’ve told that fool multiple times not to cook in my kitchen, and every time he ends up messing up and wasting my ingredients. Her chopsticks nearly crack in her ever tightening grasp. Scar’s eyes flit between her increasingly agitated expression and the chopsticks. With a curious expression, he drops his own set down before casually leaning back in his chair.
“Hm? Looks like the birdie’s feeling a bit…upset. Don’t tell me my masterful cooking didn’t bring you immense joy. It brought me immense joy.” His failed attempt at humor earns a withering glared from Yangyang. Scar merely rolls his eyes in response. “Don’t be like that. You should be grateful that I managed to grace your presence in Jinzhou all the way from-”
“Then why don’t you just go back to whatever Fractsidus lair you come from, and stop interrupting my life?” Yangyang’s sharp interruption stops Scar for a brief moment. His heterochromatic eyes widen slightly in shock before narrowing again. He lowly chuckles as he slowly shakes his head, the humorless sound sending a slightly shiver down her spine.
“Because”, he leans in all the way, “It’s my duty as an Overseer to find the strongest and bravest resonators out there for our goals. To, ascend, so to speak. And considering how you’ve oh so perfectly dealt with me, in more ways than one…” Scar trails off as he winks at her, causing her to deepen her already present scowl. At this, he simply stares at her again, his unreadable expression putting Yangyang on edge. Gently, almost hesitantly, Scar’s clawed hand reaches out to lazily twirl a part of her bangs.
“And what is that supposed to mean-” In an instant, Scar stands, pulling a startled Yangyang up as well. His hands grip her shoulders to yank her closer as he nestles his head atop hers.
“There, birdie. No need to be so upset all the time. It’ll cause you to sprout more gray hairs than you already have.” He softly coos in her hair as his grip around her waist tightens. Yangyang stiffens at first, agitated at the sudden closeness. Slowly, she relaxes into his ever warm embrace. It’s merely just a by-product of his forte. With a long suffered sigh, she reluctantly reciprocates the gesture, feeling Scar smirk into her hair as she does. “Much better~ Now then, I think we’re tuckered ourselves out with all this unnecessary fighting. Time for some proper R&R. With that, he scoops her up into his strong arms, and strolls out the kitchen.
