Work Header

Bitter but yet so sweet

Summary:

Sae is just a normal college student like any other.

As he was about to shop groceries he gets lost and on his way to find help, he meets a suspicious looking blonde with pink accents.

The next thing he knows is him laying in a wet and cold alley with little to no memory of what had happened. And a number in his pocket.

OR

Ryuusei is a vampire, who bites Sae. But he seemed to have other intentions than just drinking blood.

Notes:

Sorry for not posting much recently. Had a really busy week! Hope you enjoy it though! 🙏

Work Text:

Sae felt cold stone under his legs and behind him. It was freezing and very humid. His vision was blurry and he could only see the street lights from above.

He felt like he couldn’t move an inch and wasn’t able to form a thought. His mind was full of fog. Like someone tried to poison him.

What was going on? He heard people talking and cars driving. They were in some kind of alley but no one seemed to notice Sae almost laying on the ground.

His body felt weak and heavy. Like something was laying on top of him. Or… someone? Sae’s gaze fixated on a weird shadow, who was laying on top of him.

He didn’t recognize anything. Not the hair color or the kind of untypical clothing. He had no clue who was laying there.

But what he could tell was that this person definitely didn’t care for Sae to feel well. Rather it seemed like they wanted something else..

It was a normal friday for Sae. He had gone to college as normal, ate his meals as normal and went to his dorm as normal.

Luckily for him, he didn’t have a roommate or anything. So it was always really quiet. Sometimes, it was too quiet.

Sae never liked attention or going out. But occasionally he just needed to get fresh air. It was around 6pm as he left the dorm, thinking of grocery shopping.

He was currently studying chemistry. He was not the best but also not the worst. He put a lot of effort into being good and wanted to become a professional one day.

That’s atleast was what he thought he wanted. He stepped outside on the busy streets of Tokio.

Currently he was studying here. It was easier because of the language and the whole travel documents. But as soon as he graduated, he would leave Japan once and for all.

But there he was. Busy streets, many people and loud noises. It was currently kind of raining but not too much to bother Sae in some kind of way.

He tried breathing in and enjoying this moment, but for him, everything about this country just seemed awful.

He sighed as he stood on a street light, waiting for it to turn green. As he crossed the street and walked a few meters he realized that he got lost.

Well, that was new.

Sae wasn’t really familiar with this part of the city yet. That was now really clear. He looked around slowly to find out where he came from. There was no room for panic for someone like Sae.

He seemed to have gotten lost in some kind of park and there was a stranger sitting on a bench.

Sae would’ve, of course, solved his own problems. But why shouldn’t use help, if there was one right there?

He was an adult that could defend himself. He was very athletic after all. The stranger didn’t look too intimidating.

They just sat there. Hair had been dyed to some blonde with pink accents. He looked rather tanned, maybe someone who came from the east.

The clothing seemed rather explicit in Sae’s eyes. The shirt wasn’t really fitting for how cold it was, showing the shoulder on one side. They had baggy jeans who seemed to be worn almost every day.

Sae didn’t mind this kind of clothing. It was Tokio after all.

He went to the stranger in hope of a not too long conversation, so he could go back to his dorm without any more inconveniences.

„Excuse me.“

Good way to start. Nothing wrong with being polite.

The stranger looked up. Make-up really defining his eyes. They almost seemed like they were glowing.

It was winter right now so it turned dark really quick with the sun already setting.

The stranger just looked into Sae’s eyes before responding.

„Oh, hey! You can have my number, no problem.“

Sae raised an eyebrow. Who did he think he was?

„No. Can you tell me how to get back to Edogawa-Station?“

The blonde in front of him started to smile.

„I like you. Can I get your number?“

„Are you deaf? I‘m asking you where the station is.“

„Yeah, got that. But I have no clue.“

Sae sighed. Typical for his luck. Just one time he wanted to be nice to someone and this is how destiny is rewarding him. He turned around, there was no point in talking to this guy any longer.

„Hey wait! I was joking! Of course I know where it is, I‘ll even show you!“

Sae looked back at the stranger with a suspicious look. Anything about him just didn’t feel right. But to his defense, it was getting dark and he just wanted to go back.

But he was still suspicious. Should he really trust some random guy he met in the middle of Tokio?

„Come on now. I don’t bite. It’s only a 5 minute walk.“

Well, what other options did he have at this point.

„Lead the way, no funny business.“

The blonde started to grin widely.

„Yes, sir!“

And as that the two of them left the park. Sae paid attention not getting too close to the stranger. Never trust anyone you meet in Tokio. That city is big.

„What’s your name, cutie?“

And that was also a problem. The constant flirting. What had Sae gotten himself into on just a friday evening?

„Itoshi Sae.“

„Well, nice to meet you, Sae-chan! My name‘s Shidou Ryuusei.“

„Who allowed you calling me by my first name?“

„Got a problem with that?“

Sae rolled his eyes. It didn’t matter if some guy was unpolite for five minutes. Sae would survive that. So he just ignored the question.

The person in front of him seemed to know where he was going while Sae had no clue where they were. As long as he got where he wanted to be everything would-

„We‘re here.“

The blonde stopped immediately and turned around to look at Sae’s confused face, having a smile on his face.

Sae looked around, not really understanding the situation. They weren’t near the station, atleast he didn’t think they were. They seemed to be in some kind of alley? No soul around them.

„Very funny. But I said no funny business.“

Sae looked the blonde in his glowing eyes as his smile grew bigger.

„Oh, I‘m very serious, Sae-chan.“

He took a step closer.

„What do you mean by that?“

Sae backed up with his body hitting a wall. He looked around only to find trash cans and some cats surrounding them.

Sae sighed, looking up to the devilish blonde.

„What do you want? Money?“

„Oh, something of much more worth.“

He got closer and closer. Sae vision turned blurry all of the sudden. What was happening right now?

Sae felt a sting in his neck, looking down he saw Shidou doing something to him. It didn’t really hurt. It just felt strange.

Shidou immediately backed up with a surprised look on his face. Sae put his hand on his neck to it being wet. He looked down at his hand, which was full of blood. His blood.

„Blegh! Why is your blood so bitter?“

The words of Shidou kept ringing in Sae’s head. He felt how his legs felt weaker and his vision getting blurrier.

„What are you-“

Then Sae’s eyes closed. He could feel how he fell onto the wet ground with hearing cars in the distance.

He wasn’t able to open his eyes but still felt and heard Shidou’s presence.

„Don’t leave me alone now, Sae-chan! Can’t drink you like that, now, can I?“

Sae’s mind wasn’t able to comprehend what Shidou was saying so he instead just listened to the words without much understanding.

„Well, your blood is maybe the most bitter I have ever tasted. Kind of exotic. Your face makes up for it tho.“

Like that Sae felt warmth on his neck again. That same sting. But this time, no one backed away or anything. Sae laid there getting more dizzy and slowly losing consciousness.

Sae was woken up by a cat tapping on his cheek. His eyelids were heavy and opened only with a lot of strength. Every cell in his body hurt.

It was completely dark around him, so it still was night. The cat got scared as he moved and with supporting himself on the wall, he stood up.

There was no sign of the blonde he had met earlier. He then remembered the blood on his hand and looked down. It was.. gone?

He then checked his neck but wasn’t able to sense anything weird. Had he been drugged or something?

Sae remembered the alley and thought it was best for him to leave as quickly as possible. As he left, he could see the sign saying 'Edogawa station'.

He sighed out of relief. It didn’t matter panicking right now, when he got to his dorm he would check everything and would try to remember.

Luckily for him, the next train was coming in two minutes. He went in and was there in a short time.

While looking for his keys, Sae found something interesting in his pockets. It was some kind of letter with a number. Under the number was one sentence that caught Sae’s attention.

'Not only your personality is bitter. Call me!'

As he went inside he looked at the note. Who was that? And what did he mean with his personality being bitter?

That was nothing Sae was going to find out today. It was 1am after all. It had been a long day with some mysteries that Sae wasn’t able to put together right now.

But the new day came. It always came, after all. So Sae stood up, doing his skincare and eating breakfast. It had been a saturday after all, so he didn’t really know what to do.

He wouldn’t say he was scared of going outside now but you should never play with your luck.

The note was laying on his table in the living room. With Sae always keeping an eye on it. He decided it was for the better to finally just leave the events behind him once and for all.

That didn’t mean forgetting anything. That meant talking to the other person on the phone and being able to understand what had been going on.

He tapped the numbers into his phone and it started to ring. It ringed the first time. No answer yet. Sae relaxed on his sofa with his phone being in his hand.

Second ring. Still nothing. Sae sighed looking around for the remote for a plan b, if the person wouldn’t answer. Third ring. A lot of people said that Sae wasn’t really patient. Yeah, he wasn’t.

But at the fourth ring someone finally picked up.

„Hello, who is this?“

Sae’s eyes widened as he recognized the voice. Not sure from where tho. It wouldn’t take him long to guess it.

„The better question is who are you?“

„Oh, Sae-chan! I never would’ve guessed that you’d actually call me!“

It was the guy from yesterday. Of course it was the guy from yesterday. Who else could it be? Sae sighed in disbelief for even thinking it was anybody else than that flirt.

„Did you get home safely last night?“

Sae went silent. Right, he was with the guy. He slowly remembered them ending up in the alley where he woke up.

„More or less. Did I lose consciousness while I was with you?“

He heard chuckling on the other side of the phone. Was this funny?

„Of course you did! You lost a lot of blood after all!“

If Shidou saw Sae’s face right now he probably wouldn’t be able to stop laughing. Sae thought he understood but he definitely didn’t. He never had felt more slow in his life.

„Losing blood? Why would I lose blood?“

There was silence on the other line. And then a small chuckle.

„You don’t remember? Well, better for me.“

The chuckling continued.

„You were with me while I lost blood, right? Why didn’t you call an ambulance? You were also gone when I woke up!“

„Sae-chan. If you really want answers why don’t you meet with me? It’s easier than talking over the phone.“

„Definitely not. You crazy?“

„Maybe.“

With that the call ended. Sae became a message from an unknown number saying:

'Meet me next week at Shibuya-station. I‘ll wait for you, hot-shot ;D“

Sae definitely wouldn’t go there. He didn’t lose his mind now, did he? Something about Shidou just concerned him. He felt like Shidou wasn’t really… human.

The week went as normal as a week can go with him fainting in an alley on a friday evening. His mind was constantly distracted.

He remembered more than before tho. Him losing blood, Shidou being with him and him getting dizzy and fainting. There were no questions on how the events went. The question was what Shidou did.

Sae knew that Shidou had something to do with it and that he couldn’t trust him. But he still decided to meet him. It just was necessary for himself to clear everything once and for all.

So there he was. Waiting in the middle of Shibuya-station for someone he maybe knew for half an hour at max.

It didn’t take long for Shidou to step out of the crowd and going near Sae’s way.

„Sae-chan! Good to see you!“

Shidou took a step forward but was welcomed with a hand signalizing him to back off.

„Not so close, you demon.“

The blonde could only grin at that comment.

„Demon maybe isn’t the right word.“

He then winked with the response being a very loud sigh. Sae looked into Shidou’s eyes. They were still glowing like on the evening where they had met.

„It feels like you’re undressing me with your eyes, Sae-chan.“

„Wasn’t my intention.“

„Well, you wanna grab a bite or something?“

It was definitely better than standing in this crowd awkwardly. So they found a café they sat into. Not far from the station.

Shidou took a cherry cake while Sae just had a black coffee.

„Are you always buying black coffee to impress your date?“

„Date? No, I just like it this way.“

Shidou chuckled while grabbing his fork and starting to eat.

„On that evening.. You did something to me, right?“

Shidou looked up from his cake. He couldn’t hold back laughing.

„Of course I did! I thought you already figured that much.“

„Well, what did you do?“

„I drank your blood? Didn’t you notice?“

Sae couldn’t tell if the man in front of him was joking. Was that some kind of catch phrase? He was never good with the youngster talk.

„You don’t believe me, right?“

„Damn well I don’t.“

„Well how should I prove something like that? You gotta trust me a bit here.“

„If everything of this was true. Why would you tell me that?“

Shidou started to smile. Sae wasn’t dumb or naive or anything like that. It just didn’t really fit in his image of the world for a person drinking blood. They weren’t in some kind of horror movie now, were they?

„I just have the feeling you couldn’t tell anyone else. You’re alone, riiight?“

„So what? I‘m not dumb.“

„Exactly! That’s why you’re believing me.“

Shidou winked again. Sae really did believe him. His guts were telling him that Shidou told him the truth.

„What are you then? A vampire?“

„Yeah, maybe. I don’t know. Just drinking blood. I am not allergic to garlic tho and these weird wooden crosses don‘t do anything aswell. So don’t even try! They freak me out..“

„Okay.“

„Okay… what?“

Sae just shrugged. He couldn’t care less if some stranger drank blood in their free time. It wasn’t his problem now, was it? As long as he would be left alone.

„If you are some kind of supernatural creature, then you are. Not my problem.“

Shidou grinned.

„Aren’t you scared, I‘ll drink you blood?“

„Didn’t you say it was too bitter anyway?“

„Tastes can change.“

„Yeah, well that blood thing is your problem alone. I‘m leaving.“

„Wait Sae-chan! You can’t be serious!“

„Oh, I am.“

Sae grabbed his things and left. Just like that. Talking to this guy any longer would make it difficult in the long run.

It was better for him to just accept some kind of supernatural creature that on pure coincidence had the chance to drink Sae’s blood.

He didn’t know that guy and the guy didn’t know him. They would just cross paths once in a lifetime and now it was over. All questions were more or less answered.

As Sae laid in bed in the evening he couldn’t keep his mind from Shidou. It wasn’t because of his personality or his charm, it was because someone like him existed.

That would mean they are others. Is it possible to be turned into one? Hopefully not. It would be a hassle always finding people to drink blood from.

Evolution really disappoints here. Maybe they grew extinct. Could be possible if you asked Sae.

He decided then and there that he had nothing to do with Shidou. Let that guy do what he wants.

The next week began and Sae was on his way to his first class. Today there wasn’t really much. He had classes until 1pm and could go back to his dorm after that.

It was cold and snowing outside. The classes nearly flew and as soon as they began they already ended.

The snowing had stopped until then but it still laid on the ground. Sae decided on going grocery shopping. Hoping, that nothing would go wrong this time.

But he learned from his mistakes and went in noon with it still being bright outside. He took a step in a grocery store near his college and packed everything he needed.

It wasn’t really much, just vegetables, rice and noodles. Also some soup for bad times if he would go lazy. As he marked everything on his list he decided to pay.

He went to a cashier, waiting to pay. But as he looked up he saw a very familiar face.

„Sae-chan! What are you doing here? Visiting me?“

Sae’s eyes widened. Had this been his new curse? That guy wasn’t a vampire that was a demon send from hell for Sae personally.

„No. What are YOU doing here?“

„Can’t you see? I‘m working.“

Shidou started to scan every item. Sae just looked around confused. Shidou didn’t seem like the guy that would work in a grocery store out of all places.

„I switch workplaces a lot. They need a worker for two months, after that I‘m gonna switch again.“

„Isn’t that stressful?“

„Better this way anyway. You know I have this little secret..“

Sae immediately knew Shidou was making fun of the situation.

„But I can’t tell you that.“

Shidou winked. Very funny. Almost so funny that Sae forgot to laugh. He just wanted to leave as fast as possible at this point.

„That will be 2,530¥.“

„With card.“

Sae got out his card while Shidou packed his things in a bag.

„Thank you for shopping here.“

The customer now acquired his things and left without a word. He definitely had been cursed, he was sure of it now.

Weeks went by without his curse appearing again. Sae’s life completely returned to normal. Him studying and after some time he even wrote some exams.

As the exams were over, everyone was invited to a party. To celebrate them surviving.

It was a party by a classmate of Sae named Oliver Aiku. Sae didn’t really know him too well and decided already at the moment he was invited that he wouldn’t go there.

But there he was. On a saturday evening. Standing between drunk people, music being loud and it being so hot. Like really hot.

He was convinced by Oliver, who had said that someone really wanted to see him and that he only needed to stay a bit.

Sae didn’t have anything better to do after all. He got himself a drink and sat at a table. He wasn’t alone, but he felt like he was.

All theses people weren’t interesting to him in the slightest. So he waited. He waited for this mysterious person that wanted to meet Sae.

As he got more bored, Sae drank more. To a point where he already got some kind of headache and straight walking being more and more difficult. As he got his next drink, his thought process already had stopped.

There wasn’t a single thought going on. He just sat there, his mind being dull and his brain full of fog.

„Sae-chan! You? Here?“

Sae’s tired eyes turned around to see a familiar guy. Again. Were these hallucinations?

„Ryuusei? What are you-?“

Wait. What was he saying? He couldn’t really control what he did or what he said anymore. Oh how he hated being drunk.

„Are you drunk, Sae-chan?“

„No.“

Shidou just grinned wide. What was this luck? Well, it wasn’t luck. He knew Oliver from a lot of corners so he of course gave him some money to convince Sae on coming.

Sometimes you gotta make your luck yourself.

„You definitely are.“

„Why are you.. even here?“

Sae wanted to stand up, but Shidou got closer keeping him in his chair. Sae seemed to have completely lost it. He never would’ve thought Sae could even go this far.

„Just here to check if everything’s alright.“

„You wanna drink my blood?“

Short silence before Shidou spoke again.

„Definitely not. Especially not here.“

„Then let’s go somewhere else.“

Shidou checked if Sae was still with him. His words for sure didn’t sound like him. It made Shidou doubt Sae was even the person he pretended to be. But Shidou is just a man in the end.

„Do you want me to drink your blood?“

This question was for science only. Not any other intention behind these words.

„If you want to.“

„I‘m asking you if you want to.“

„Well, I had no problem with it.“

„Oh, really?“

And with that, Sae fell asleep. On Shidou. His arms laying on Shidou’s shoulders and his head almost seemed like he was falling off. He wasn’t really heavy, but not the lightest. He had some muscles after all.

„Sae-chan? You’re still with me?“

Shidou just heard some mhms and decided that that’s a no. Now he had this human who was currently sleeping on his shoulders, completely drunk.

The blonde never would’ve thought Sae is the guy to get drunk at a party like this. He still wanted to talk to him. Without this.. filter. But, he decided not to and just take him home.

With one problem there was the next. Where did Sae live? Well, he didn’t have any friends so Shidou couldn’t really ask anyone. But he could not just leave Sae there. What if, somehow, someone drank his blood or something?

So Shidou decided to do the only right thing. Taking Sae home to his apartment.

It wasn’t really much and also was quite cheap. Shidou didn’t really have the money to live in luxury.

He laid Sae on the sofa. The guy was still fast asleep.

Now, Shidou had acquired a human he knew all to well. As he was brushing his teeth he thought about drinking some blood. It had been some time after all.

But he decided not to. It would be wrong. Wait… It… would be wrong?

Normally Shidou had no problem with drinking blood from unconscious people. Saying it differently, he never drank blood of someone conscious!

He figured that it wouldn’t be as good for his relationship with Sae to just abuse this power over him.

As he was about to go to sleep he heard Sae mumbling so he decided on trying to talk to him again.

„Sae-chan? You awake? Sae?“

He shook him around a bit.

„Ryuusei? What’s wrong?“

Shidou chuckled at Sae being so comfortable talking to him with his first name.

„Do you know where you are?“

„No, does that matter?“

Shidou sighed. Sae didn’t seemed too pleased by this conversation with still being as drunk as ever.

„Well, you’re at my apartment.“

„That’s why this thing is so hard. Couldn’t have been mine.“

„Hey! That is luxury right there!“

„You lay on it. It’s hard as fuck.“

Woah Sae cursing. Shidou wished he could frame this moment.

„Then come lay on the bed. Can you stand?“

„Of course I can, you idiot.“

Infact Sae couldn’t. The second he tried he already fell over again. Shidou was also growing more tired so he just carried Sae to the bed and threw him in there.

„You’re a grown man. How can you get so drunk?“

„I was waiting for someone.“

Shidou laid beside Sae and put the blanked over both of them. It was a picture Shidou would never forget.

„For who?“

„I don’t know. Oliver told me there-“

Silence.

„Sae? Hey! Sae-chan?“

Sae had been asleep, again. Shidou sighed and just decided on going to sleep aswell. There was no fighting in it.

Sae woke up with a feeling all too well. Dizzy and a headache. But this time it wasn’t because of some vampire, it was because he was drunk.

He felt embarrassed to the bone thinking about it. His body felt heavy like he couldn’t move an inch.

As he slowly opened his eyes he was startled by a familiar blonde.

„What are you doing here?“

Shidou blinked once or twice before looking at Sae, who had been in complete shock. He couldn’t hold back on smiling.

„This is my apartment.“

„Your… what?!“

Sae looked around. Well, he knew that he had been drunk but this… took it to another level.

„What am I doing here then?“

„You were so drunk you fell asleep right on top of me.“

Sae couldn’t hear no more. This was just way too embarrassing.

„Good then. Thank you.“

„You’re embarrassed aren’t you?“

„Am not.“

„If I were you, I would be suuuper embarrassed right now.“

Sae just avoided Shidou’s gaze looking around the apartment. He just decided on ignoring that creature he had shared a bed with.

He still had his clothes from yesterday that smelled like smoke and sweat. He didn’t even really know where he was. Shidou’s apartment could be anywhere after all.

Just as he was about to stand up, he realized that Shidou started breathing more heavily.

„Is everything alright?“

„Yeah. Just getting thirsty in the morning.“

Sae raised an eyebrow but just decided on ignoring that aswell. He needed to get out of this as soon as possible. Shidou stood up, his movements being hard and looking heavy.

„I‘m gonna go to the bathroom.“

Sae nodded. Maybe in the meanwhile he could steal some clothes of this guy.

As soon as Shidou was gone, Sae opened the closet. And it had been the most messy Sae ever had seen. It was full to the limit with everything stacked on top of each other. How was this guy even finding his clothes?

Sae looked through the clothes hoping to find something as he heard a loud noise coming from the bathroom.

It sounded like Shidou fell. Sae sighed. Without Shidou he would now probably god knows where so he owed him something.

„Shidou, is everything alright?“

No answer. Sae knocked but that didn’t help.

„I‘ll open the door now.“

As Sae opened the door he was greeted by a shirtless vampire currently shaving his face.

„Oh Sae-chan. You wanna use the bathroom?“

Sae was startled by this sight. Even though they were both men it just felt so embarrassing walking in on him.

„Sorry, I thought I heard you fall.“

Shidou just grinned.

„Still a bit drunk, are we?“

Sae closed the door. What was going on? He was sure he heard him fall. Maybe he was drugged. Wouldn’t be the first time he suspected that.

He cancelled the idea of finding clothes. With that closet there was no way he would find something that nearly fitted his taste.

Instead he just sat on the couch, which was rock hard. He scrolled through his phone that had 23% left. Great.

Shidou came out the bathroom, still shirtless. Sae thought maybe Shidou felt a bit too comfortable around him even though they didn’t really know each other.

„Ugh I‘m really thirsty. My mouth feels all dry and stuff.“

Shidou stuck out his tongue and as Sae looked up he could even see the fangs. That guy really was a vampire. Sae was kind of expecting it not looking this stereotypical.

„Do you wanna drink something?“

Sae motioned his head to the side. He attempted to make a joke here. Get it? Since Sae’s blood is so bitter Shidou would refuse immediately.

„You for real? You also offered it yesterday…“

„When I was drunk? Well, I‘m sober now.“

Sae expected Shidou to say something like no thank you but instead the vampire also sat on the couch ready to go.

„Wait, you’re serious? You’re not gonna bite me, are you?“

And with that the familiar sting came back to Sae’s neck. That day he knew making jokes just didn’t work for him. Well, he never thought they would work.

It felt kind of… erotic. Maybe that wasn’t the right word. Sae felt hot. The parts where Shidou touched him seemed like they were on fire.

Maybe it was some kind of side effect of him getting his blood sucked but he wouldn’t say that it felt bad. It was maybe unknown, but definitely not a feeling he would refuse.

He felt getting hotter and his mind slowly going blank. That was probably of the blood loss. At least he hoped that was it.

„Ryuusei.. Don’t you think that’s enough?“

With that the sting disappeared and a guy with his mouth all smeared with blood looked at Sae.

„Are you alright?“

„Yeah. Just see it as a thank you for letting me stay here.“

Shidou nodded, now smiling. Sae’s wound closed already. It was one nice side effect of vampires to be able to close wounds made with fangs immediately.

Now everything that he owed Shidou had been cleared. Sae was a free man.

He sighed as remembered the failed attempts at leaving Shidou once and for all. It seemed like he couldn’t escape this guy for whatever reason.

„Something on your mind?“

Shidou was currently cleaning his mouth. What a sight that was.

„None of your business.“

„Come on, Sae-chan! Yesterday you were so nice to me!“

Sae raised an eyebrow.

„Really?“

He never had guessed that he could be 'nice' to Shidou. The question was really what he meant by that.

„Nicer than normal. That’s for sure, you icequeen.“

Sae ignored that comment. It wasn’t his fault Shidou and him kept meeting again. He was just as innocent as every other person. If Shidou didn’t like him, that was his problem alone.

Sae stood up with the intention of taking his stuff and leaving. There was no reason to stay any more after all.

„I‘m leaving.“

Shidou nodded and then started to frown.

„I‘ll text you!“

„Don’t.“

Well, Sae’s words didn’t really have an impact on Shidou’s actions. He knew that by now.

The vampire texted him constantly. Always with messages super irrelevant to Sae.

'How are you?'

'Bet you look hot today ;)'

'Can we meet again?'

Sae didn’t have the time nor the patience answering that guy. Half of the messages weren’t even serious.

But Sae slowly realized that Shidou already had a place in his mind. He would catch himself thinking about him a lot. Not only his species and theories on it. Also how he had treated Sae up to this point.

No one normally had the patience to talk to him. It wasn’t a bad thing necessarily for Sae. But it felt like Shidou just treated him differently.

He couldn’t understand why. Maybe he also didn’t want to understand why. He didn’t know.

But as the 51‘s text message of the day was something like 'I wanna see you again!! <3', Sae decided on replying:

'Okay. Meet me tomorrow at _____'

It was the address of his dorm. Seconds later his phone started exploding with messages. Sae thought about reporting Shidou for spam because this was really too much.

He didn’t bother reading all that. It didn’t matter anyway. He didn’t know what was going on inside him but he felt kind of happy to see Shidou again. Someone protect him from whatever’s going on right now.

The next day came faster than expected. On eight in the morning he could hear crazy knocking in front of his door. It was way too early for a sunday.

He opened the door to be greeted by Shidou.

„What are you doing here this early in the morning?“

„You invited me.“

Sae sighed.

„Well, yeah. But it’s 8am right now!“

„You didn’t tell me a time.“

Sae just moved the way, signalizing Shidou to come in. That was his mistake. He could’ve known better.

„You want breakfast?“

Shidou sat down on Sae’s bed and then looked up to him with his eyes sparkling. Sae decided that this was a yes.

He made some scrambled eggs with rice while Shidou’s just looked around the dorm.

It only had one room in which was Sae’s bed and the kitchen. It got really hot in the summer. There was a door which leaded to the bathroom. It also wasn’t the biggest. But it was enough for a person to survive.

As Sae set the table Shidou stood up and sat down.

„Was there anything you wanted to talk about?“

Sae grabbed the chopsticks and then looked at Shidou.

„You said you wanted to meet.“

Shidou smiled.

„Yeah, but you didn’t answer the other hundred times when I said that.“

„Touché.“

Sae sat down as well and started eating. He felt like he was getting stared at by the other. He decided on giving an answer.

„I don’t know. Just felt like it.“

„You felt like it? Didn’t know that was possible.“

Moment of silence. Awkward silence.

„Oh I know now.“

Sae looked up. What did Shidou now conclude?

„You like me, right?“

Sae nearly choked on his food. What was this even about? He heard Shidou chuckling, who was as guessed amused by Sae’s reaction.

„You don’t have to say anything. Your face can speak more than 1000 words.“

Shidou winked.

„It’s not like that.“

„Then tell me, what is it like?“

Silence again. Maybe Sae did like Shidou. That felt new. He wasn’t prepared for this at all.

Shidou just sat there with his sparkling eyes looking at Sae. His face was really handsome, Sae could admit that. And his physice seemed very athletic which was- Okay stop. What was going on here?

Sae didn’t know what was happening. He felt like he saw everything through pink sunglasses. Like he wasn’t in his right mind. But he was.

He had slept enough. Wasn’t too much on his phone aswell. Sae laughed to himself. How pathetic. He decided to just give Shidou a glare.

Like he had to do anything with it. It was Sae’s fault alone and he realized that. Following another sigh he started speaking again.

„You like me.“

Reverse psychology right there. If he had a crisis about liking and not liking Shidou should have one aswell.

„Yeah, I do.“

Okay plan b. Why didn’t anything ever work out for him.

„Maybe I like you too.“

„Maybe?“

„Maybe.“

„Wanna find out?“

What did that even mean? Sae didn’t know if he wanted to find that out. Should he know that?

They were finished up to this point with Sae putting away the plates. Shidou laid on the bed just staring at the ceiling while smiling.

Sae decided to sit on it aswell so Shidou made some room for him.

„What do you mean by finding out?“

„You exactly know what I mean.“

Shidou looked directly into Sae’s eyes. He felt like his eyes were being opened. That was it. He wanted to kiss Sae. Sae maybe was still sleepy because that conclusion took way too long.

Shidou looked down and then up again. Waiting for Sae to say something. But instead of saying, Sae did something.

He pulled Shidou by his face pressing their lips together.

Shidou was definitely surprised, but not in a bad way. Slowly he laid his arms around Sae’s shoulders, who in response grabbed the other by the hair.

Shidou quickly opened his mouth for them to take it to a deeper level. Sae could sense Shidou’s teeth through his tongue. Checking every individual tooth.

They were so sharp that Sae could feel him cutting himself. That didn’t hold the two of them back tho. Sae also saw it more like a treat for Shidou.

They went deeper and deeper with them exploring the inside of the other‘s mouth. But after some time they both parted lips.

„Do you have your answer?“

Sae nodded.

„I like you, Ryuusei.“

Shidou smiled.

„You taste awfully sweet now.“
