Chapter Text
"It's MEE-ple not NIPPLE."
You look up at the person in front of you- or robot to be more accurate. Their face was outright unhappy with the horrible misspelling of their name, you could've sworn you heard Nipple and despite how absurd it would be for anyone to be named Nipple; you wrote it down anyways. Whatever, the customer was already upset.
"I'm so sorry about that . . . . . meeple.." you hesited on what name to call them for a second, wondering how angry they would be if you started leaning into sarcasm."
" My name sounds NOTHING like nipple, I can't BEELIEEEVE you could get confused over an EASY spelling name. " They said with a rudeness in their voice, you almost wanted to fight back- but no, you needed to keep this job, even if it meant having to deal with wacky customers like this one.
"I apologize again Meeple, should I remake your order with the correct name or would you like a discount voucher for your next purchase?" ((Please take the voucher))....you pray to whoever would hear you in your head. They had taught you this in your paid training as a barista: the best way to deal with an "inconvenient" customer is to offer them a discount voucher, they had these coupons stocked to the brim at the back of the store.
Despite your completely reasonable solutions, the audacious customer completely refused any kind of bargain for your simple mistake.
"I don't want any kind of PITY.... You TEMPT me with discounted coffee!"
You sigh with slight distain spilling in your tone of voice, "Look meeple, what is it that I can do to satisfy your experience?" You really didn't want to ask this question, but your job trained you to do whatever the customer wanted.
Hearing your retort, a dubious grin sprouted on Meeples face as they couldn't hide the snickers that escaped their throat.
Meeple slowly backed away from the counter where they had just been complaining on- not paying and leaving like a normal person. They raised their hand up and shouted, "For your INSENSITIVE offense, I challenge YOU to a DUEL!!!"
You instinctly look around the cafe for faces full of cringe incase anyone overheard Meeples obnoxious bickering. To your dismay, the cafe seemed to have cleared during your "conversation." There were but a few people scattered in the corners of the cafe with their laptops out, seemingly in a trance.
You sigh in both relief and annoyance as you concentrate back to the obnoxious bot in front of you. Meeples hand was still directly pointing at you, but on a level headed observation you could see their expression was one full of fake, mocked up confidence.
you would most definitely see some kind of sweat coming off of their forehead if they weren't made of.......whatever they are....
Seeing them like this, paused with their hand in the air pointing towards you- the reality of the situation finally clicked in as a small devilish grin landed on your face. "And, what if I say no?"
You weren't too paranoid about anyone calling you out for leaving the sweet costumer service voice behind, not when you were sure this person in front of you wouldn't dare to tell anyone.
"I- I UH- UH UH- ITS A BOARD GAME DUEL!!!WE PLAY UNTIL SOMONE LOSES?!? WHY WOULD YOU SAY NO!" they stuttered on their words- obviously trying their best to convince you to go a long with their plan but you weren't having any of it.
" So? I don't HAVE to play with you." You coutinuted countering them with a relaxed expression.
" OH C'MON! It'll just be like! IT'LL BE 10 MINUTES! FIGHT ME!"
You only grinned at them with a hint of mischief in your eyes.
"... please?"
Oh that was unexpected, you really weren't prepared for the guy (gender neutral) to start begging you.
"Well, alright I guess, but just for a few minutes- I can't leave the counter unattended."
