Chapter Text
"You dizzy yet?" Jess approached with a teasing smile, watching Lupe hang upside down from the top of the bars at the playground, her ankles hooked to keep her in place.
"Nope." Lupe answered with her arms crossed in front of her, clearly ready to deny that she was starting to feel sick from all the blood rushing to her head.
"C’mon, Lou, we both know you can’t beat me at this. Just quit it already," said Jess as he finally reached her. He raised his hand to poke at Lupe’s belly, now almost completely exposed as gravity tugged her shirt down — which was already driving him crazy when only a few buttons had held it in place before she started her little performance.
"Hey, stop, I’ll fall off if you keep doing that." Lupe laughed and tried to squirm away from Jess’s fingers, which were now in full force, attacking her exposed skin with the softest tickles.
"I’ll stop on one condition," Jess said, staring into Lupe’s slightly frantic eyes upside down. "You stop this little race of yours and just admit that I’m better at this than you."
Lupe poked her tongue out and shook her head.
"No way. I’m not leaving until you admit your record hanging upside down is totally beatable," she said, her voice full of determination.
Jess sighed. He knew that tone — nothing good ever came from it. And he cared too much about Lupe’s safety to pick another fight with her stubborn ass. Her face had gone from tomato red to slightly pale after nearly ten minutes.
"Okay, fine," he said, pulling his hand away and taking a step back, looking her up and down (or maybe down and up?).
"No, no, no." Lupe shook her head at Jess, who was now sulking and kicking some pebbles on the concrete.
"You have to admit it," she said, a huge grin spreading across her face.
Jess looked up, biting his bottom lip to hide the smile forming on his face.
"Admit what?" he asked, stepping closer again and staring straight into Lupe’s eyes, raising his brows.
"Admit that I’m better than you, dickhead," said Lupe, her eyes sparkling as she stared back. Slowly, she began to lift herself up, grabbing the bars beside her ankles and carefully removing her legs.
Just as her feet touched the ground, still holding onto the bars, she felt Jess come up behind her. He pressed a kiss to the back of her neck and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Mmmdhhhd," Jess mumbled into her neck.
Lupe finally let go of the bars and turned around with a fond smile on her face.
"I’m afraid I didn't quite catch that," she whispered against Jess’s lips, lifting her hands over his to caress his hip bones, which were completely exposed in his low-hanging, washed-out jeans.
"Shut up and kiss me already, you tease. We both know you won this," Jess murmured, pulling Lupe in for a kiss. She went willingly, smiling as she tugged playfully at his lips.
