Chapter Text
The boiling heat outside seemed hot enough to melt the soles of your boots off. The grass outside on your property was green and lush, the acres of giant oak and willow swayed in the slight breeze. Bright sunlight bore down on your little farm, but you trudged through your garden towards the barn anyway. It was the dead of summer and your least favorite time of the year, mostly because caring for all your animals alone was harder. Trying to ward off bugs, keeping water troughs filled, making sure the new ducklings and chickens were faring well... it was a lot of work for one person. When you acquired your property, it was mainly to get away from the city and the hustle and bustle of your corporate lifestyle. The city was lovely, but you made enough money to work from home and the temptation to be out in nature was far too good to pass up. As time wore on, you came into possession of a few animals which was mostly by accident. A few former dairy cows who needed a place to retire here, a few old racehorses there, chickens and ducks, a handful of goats from a distant neighbor, two stray dogs, and a few litters of rabbits. You had the land to house them all, so you threw caution to the wind and offered to help the animals in need. Now working your land was a full time job all on its own, and you cursed yourself for biting off more than you could chew some days.
You took off your sun hat and wiped the sweat off your brow, finishing up the morning chores for the day in the barn. You checked on all the animals before making your way back towards your quaint home to log online to work for the day.
It was a routine that every Sunday you went to your neighbor's home for dinner. He was a retired, but albeit decorated, detective with the Detroit police. Hank Anderson and yourself became good friends as time went on, and you partially cared for the cranky man as well. Made sure he had his meals, driving him into town occasionally, gifting him some of the baked goods you liked to make. In return, he would do maintenance on your house and car, helping maintain your property whenever you were gone. It was a good relationship, enough so that you found yourself at his dinner table complaining about your workload.
"Hank, I just can't handle all these animals by myself but I have no clue what to do about it. I can't pawn my babies off to some stranger," you poked at the food the older man had made for you that night. He grumbled and rubbed his graying beard, his long shaggy hair pulled back. His blue eyes closed as he thought for a moment, swinging the glass of whiskey he sipped on in his other hand as if it would help his brain think better.
"Well, I hate CyberLife as much as the next guy... but my old boss Jeffrey from the precinct just bought one of those new worker androids. He's been callin' me and complaining about how much he doesn't need it but he can't return it," Hank explained, quite sharp for being in his mid fifties and an occasional alcoholic. Your ears perked up at his suggestion, already knowing what his idea was.
"So you're saying I should take in an android that no one wants to help me? Like I took in all my animals?" You raised a brow, almost smirking at the irony of the idea. You would much prefer not to own an android, it just never felt right in your soul. You believed they were every bit as human as Hank and yourself, but the idea was tempting. Hank, seeing how you hesitated at the idea, simply sat back in his chair with a smile.
"I think it's a damn good idea you should consider. I don't want you bringin' in some stranger to your place, and it'll get Jeffrey off my fuckin' ass," the older man took a sip of his whiskey. Your heart melted just a bit at how much Hank worried over you like you were a daughter, he really was soft on the inside.
"I'll think about it. Thanks for dinner, Hank," you stood up and cleaned your plate, giving the older man a quick hug before going back home. That night you tossed and turned in bed, ruminating over how tempting Hank's offer was. The moon was high in the sky, shining dim light through your lace curtains. There was no way you were going to get an ounce of sleep until you decided, and decided you did.
The next week, Hank's old 1988 Cutlass pulled up into your long driveway. There was someone else in the car with him, and the two of them seemed to be shooting the shit effortlessly. You were sat on your porch sporting just a tank top and shorts with how hot it was, sipping some tea as you read your current book. You watched as Hank got out of the car, chuckling at something. The other person emerged from the passenger's seat, and you swore your heart stopped. It was a taller man, maybe as tall as Hank. He was wearing a cowboy hat, a flannel button up with the sleeves rolled to his elbows, a nice fitting pair of jeans, and some boots. Hе looked as if he had been working a little already, his jeans were dusty and you could see a pair of gloves stuffed into one of his pockets. You tore your gaze away as Hank led the mystery man towards your porch, waving to you. You waved back and sat up out of your chair, straightening out your tank top a little. You cursed a little at how messy you probably looked, no shoes, hair pulled up in a ponytail off your neck, and barely a tinge of makeup on. You didn't think Hank would be coming over today anyway, let alone with someone else. You walked to the edge of your porch, staying in the shade as the two men approached you.
"Hey sweetheart, didn't mean to catch you at a bad time," Hank spoke as they both stopped in front of you.
"I was paying Jeffrey a visit earlier today and I know you said you were interested in some help around here..." Hank trailed off, looking to the man at his side. Only then did you notice he had a spinning blue LED on his temple. This was the android Hank had told you about? There was no way, he seemed so human. Your mouth went dry, not expecting the android to be handsome and hot as all hell. The android's brown puppy dog eyes were fixated on you for just a moment before he took off his hat and extended his hand for you to shake.
"My name is Connor, I'm an RK800 model android made for manual labor and farm work. You're the nice woman Hank has been telling me about I assume," he spoke politely, his tone sweet and respectful. You broke yourself out of your thoughts and shook his hand firmly, noting the way how your smaller hand fit together in his own like puzzle pieces.
"Hi there Connor, it's nice to meet you," you replied with an award winning smile, introducing yourself by name. He smiled softly back, and it nearly made your brain short circuit. Hank watched the interaction, a knowing smile on his lips.
"Connor here will be helping you out from now on. I figured it'll be better for him to bum it with me at my place so he can help me fix up my cars, but I'll send him over to your place every morning," Hank explained, stuffing his hands in his jeans. You mentally rolled your eyes, of course he was going to force this attractive young man to stay at his home and not your own. Very father-like of him to do. You nodded and smiled, quite happy about Hank's deal anyway. It took pressure off you to feel guilty for "owning" an android while getting all the help you needed.
"I'll be here bright and early at five if that's alright with you, Miss," Connor put his hat back on, seemingly just as eager to be put to work and be around you as you were with him. You were so endeared by how polite and respectful he was and god was it going to be hard to ignore the bubbling feelings in your chest. You nodded and bid the two men goodbye, watching Hank drive them both back towards his home. It warmed your heart in an odd way to see Hank actually like the presence of another person, let alone an android. Part of you believed it was because Connor looked a bit like Hank's late son Cole, but you decided to not think on that too much. The day winded down and you did your best to tidy around your home, prepping for Connor to help you out the next morning.
The sun had barely creeped up on the horizon as you woke up and got dressed for the day. Your favorite denim shorts, an oversized hoodie, and your work boots. You made sure to look a bit more presentable than you were the day prior, butterflies in your stomach at the thought of seeing Connor again and getting him familiar with your land. Him helping out every morning would do you a lot of good and save you so much stress, you were grateful to yourself for accepting Hank's deal. You started to nibble on a homemade scone you made when you heard a polite knock on your door. Your two dogs barking at the unfamiliar noise, you shushed them and set down your light breakfast before opening the door to see Connor standing politely on your porch. His hands were at his sides awkwardly, eyeing the few flowers you had outside.
"Good morning, Connor. Sleep well with Hank's snoring?" You greeted him with a chuckle, standing aside to gesture him into your home. Connor seemed to visibly relax, walking inside.
"Good morning. Hank's snoring is quite the nuisance, good thing I can turn my audio processors off," he answered with a soft chuckle as his eyes scanned every nook and cranny of your house. Your dogs immediately swarmed him, sniffing at his hands and jeans. The animals immediately warmed up to him. Connor smiled and started to pet the dogs, not afraid to handle them and show them some attention.
"They’re my home defense. They keep me company in the house," You joked with a smile, walking back towards your kitchen to finish up your breakfast. Connor effortlessly picked up your great Pyrenees, letting the dog lick his face happily. Your eyes widened at Connor's strength, almost bewildered. You nearly forgot he was an android and that picking up a hundred pound dog was probably no issue for him. Connor set the beast down, chuckling.
"They're both very sweet. I like dogs," he stated simply, the nature of his statement sort of endearing to you.
"Well I hope you like a lot of other animals, because I have quite the bunch," you giggled as you finished up your breakfast and led him outside to start teaching him your schedule and show him the daily chores. Passing your garden and little pond with all the new ducklings, you showed him your barn and introduced him to all your animals. Connor soaked up the information like a sponge, and you knew that you wouldn't have to explain anything twice to him. You both chatted politely, getting to know each other as you walked around the property together. As the sky turned shades of orange, pink, and purple, you got a little excited. The morning sunrise was beautiful, and every morning you took a moment to appreciate it. It was simply part of your routine to take the time to sit and think about things. You decided to lead Connor to one of your favorite spots, a little hill near the barn where you liked to sit. The two of you sat in the soft grass, as you held one of your little rabbits in your hoodie. It was the runt of the new litter and you took extra care of it just by principal. Your fingers pet the little creature as you watched the sun peek over the trees, smiling softly.
Connor tried his best not to stare at you too much, but it was difficult. He found you beyond kind and gorgeous to boot, which was a stark contrast to the gruff older men he was used to. Jeffrey was demanding but fair, and he was grateful that the man gave him a good start to life. Hank was pretty similar although a bit messy and less put together, but they got along quite well. Yet never in his short life had he encountered someone likе you. Your soft features looked so lovely, your kind eyes never judged him for a minute even though he wasn't human like you. You treated him as if he was one though, which he appreciated. He thanked ra9 that he had deviated early on before he met you and that he was able to feel all his emotions because the way your presence made his thirium pump beat faster felt divine. Connor hadn't known you for long, but he was damn sure he'd do his best to help you out with your land and make you proud. In that moment he made that promise to himself, and he was hellbent on keeping it.
The weeks turned into a few months, and the seasons finally changed. Mountains of leaves piled up high as the trees laid bare, swinging in the soft breeze. The air was filled with condensation, the gentle blanket of fog dusting your property was still and peaceful. You sat on your porch with a nice cup of hot chocolate, your socked feet tucked up underneath you. The slightly scratchy fibers of your knitted sweater tickled the soft skin of your cheeks as you cuddled into it with a soft sigh. The morning dew dripped softly off all the flowers and plants tucked around your little spot on the porch. You watched onwards with a smile hearing your dogs bark and chase each other around the yard. The brunette android was out there with them, throwing a tennis ball out for them to chase. After a while, Connor made it a habit to hang out with you after the morning chores were finished. Sometimes the twoof you would eat breakfast together, or go into town if you had errands to run. Sometimes you'd make him sit down in your living room and watch movies he had never seen, just to enlighten him a bit to your references and pop culture. There was even a few times you'd let him bake with you or join you on the porch to paint. Safe to say, the two of you had gotten pretty close. You told yourself that Connor was simply becoming a good companion, you spent all this time with him outside of your work hours just because he was there and you didn't have many friends except Hank. Connor chose to spend as much of his time with you as possible without being rude and intruding, often acting like a kicked puppy if you were busy or had to leave your home to visit family and such. You could never say no to Connor, so a lot of times even if you were busy you'd find a way to let him hang around the house.
"Connor, could you fix this for me?"
"Connor, would you check the drip system in the garden?"
"Connor, be a dear and exercise the horses?”
At a certain point, Connor was on top of every little thing concerning the maintenance of your home and the land. He knew you'd busy him with bullshit just so he had an excuse to stick around longer. If he wasn't at your place he spent his time working on Hank's vehicles, taking on his own projects like fixing up old motorcycles Hank would find at scrap yards. It was a peaceful life, he got to work with his skilled hands and make the lives of his two good friends easier. Though he knew from the beginning that you were more than just a friend in his artificial heart.
As he threw another tennis ball for the dogs to chase, he leaned against the wooden fence that encompassed your impressive front lawn and took in a few deep breaths to cool his systems. He enjoyed playing around with your dogs, hell he enjoyed playing around with all your animals at this point. He swore the cows knew him by voice alone and the rabbit's ears always perked up at the sound of his boots. He took a moment to look around the yard, making a mental note to offer to clean up all the dead leaves before turning his thoughtful gaze to you on the porch. You were watching the dogs chase after the ball he'd thrown, but Connor always liked to watch you when you weren't aware of it. Just made him feel less creepy about how much he admired you. Your hair whipped around your face a little and you looked so ridiculously cute buried in that sweater. Не wanted nothing more than to scoop you up in his arms and join you, but he pushed those thoughts aside knowing how inappropriate it was. Connor was a gentleman through and through, no matter how much he desired to kiss you all over your supple skin. A message popped up in his vision that he was slowly overheating, and he shook his head before pushing the notification aside. You really were the death of him without even knowing it. The dogs came running back towards him, the ball in one of their mouths. Connor praised them and gave them some pets before heading back up to the house, the dogs on his heels. You gave Connor a warm smile once he started walking back to the house. His brown hair was perfectly tousled, the old bomber jacket Hank gifted him fit his body deliciously.
"Tire them out good?" You asked him as he came up on the porch and sat down in the chair next to you, the dogs nuzzling against his hands as if begging for more attention.
"I think they're sufficiently tired. Hopefully you'll have a quiet night," Connor affirmed, knowing your dogs had a terrible habit of barking in the night at the crows and bats. You hummed in satisfaction, sipping your drink.
"Hank need any help today? Or are you wanting to come inside and watch another movie? It's almost Halloween and I have loads of things you need to see," you offered, secretly hoping to spend a little more time with him. Connor frowned softly, wishing more than anything to take you up on your tantalizing offer. He loved to sit on your couch amongst all your comfortable blankets and analyze why you liked the certain movies you showed him. It was his favorite way to learn about you.
"Unfortunately, I can't stay today. Hank needs help on his car, he wants it fixed so he can down to the bar tonight," he explained, running a hand through his locks. Connor was no stranger to Hank's alcoholic habits, but it was very rare for the older man to go out on the town.
"Hank said they're installing a new mechanical bull at the bar, he wanted to 'check it out' and possibly 'see all the cocky assholes get thrown off'," Connor air quoted Hank, making you giggle. The android barely swore, it was actually quite funny to hear him say such a naughty word like "assholes".
"A new mechanical bull, hm? That sounds like quite the fun time, sure the bar will be busy," you finished off your hot chocolate, eyes wandering over Connor's facial features. He was so handsome sometimes you found yourself looking at him for a little longer than appropriate, a little more soft and admiring than you'd like. Connor caught your gaze and smiled boyishly. He could tell that your heartbeat elevated slightly every time you were around him, how your pupils slightly dilated when you looked at him. It filled him with a sense of... pride? Almost like he couldn't believe someone as lovely as you found him interesting enough to spend so much time with. An idea crossed his mind, and he calculated there was at least an eighty three percent chance you'd agree, but he couldn't help but feel a little nervous.
"Would you like to come with Hank and I? Тo the bar tonight, that is," Connor asked, just a hint of nervousness in his tone. Your stomach fluttered just a little at the invitation. Typically the three of you would hang out at Hank's during Sunday dinners. Or sometimes you all would go into town occasionally. But the thought of being in a bar with Connor made you all the more interested. You had never seen him in such a social setting, and you couldn't deny that a night on the town could be fun.
"Sure. Just swing by and pick me up whenever you guys want to leave," you agreed, already mentally thinking about what outfit you'd wear. Connor smiled and stood up, bidding you a polite goodbye as he started his short walk back to Hank's house. He nearly felt like he'd combust at how excited he was for tonight, ever eager to spend more time with you.
You never had much of an excuse to doll up often, but it made you excited to dress a little more cute tonight. You did your makeup a bit more dramatic, did your hair nicely, and put on an outfit that hugged you in all the right places. Your favorite perfume dusted on your skin before you heard a familiar car honk outside. You rushed downstairs, grabbing your purse and such, before exiting your home and to Hank's awaiting car. Though Hank wasn't driving, Connor leaned over the center console to open the passenger's side door for you. His brown eyes did a quick once over of how short your skirt was and how lovely your legs looked before he greeted you warmly. Hank slurred a greeting from the back seat, you figured he must've pregamed a little too hard. You smiled and hopped right in before the three of you drove off to the bar.
The local bar wasn't too shabby for the area. Most patrons were older men like Hank who would sit and run their tabs up or hard working farm hands who needed a break after a long day. The bustle of people and cars in the parking lot sparked a bit of nervousness into your chest, but also one of pride. You knew a few of the bartenders there, and it was evident they'd be getting loads of tips tonight. The three of you walked in, Hank immediately spotting one of his drinking buddies and bumbling off to god knows where. You spotted the new mechanical bull which was installed in its own little area by the dance floor. There was a crowd of people surrounding it, more people than you had ever seen in the bar before. Cheers and whoops echoed throughout the walls of the building, which could be heard over the loud music. You excitedly tugged on Connor's arm and led him to the crowd to watch as an older man got thrown off the bull and into the soft padding underneath. Connor chuckled at the sight, his processors working overtime to take in all the stimuli. He technically was built for manual labor and farm duties but he was also programmed to handle all kinds of animals, even bulls. He was aware of quite a few other RK models that won awards in championship bull riding, but he decided against even trying to ride the machine anyway. There was a line of people already, and he much preferred to watch instead. You, on the other hand, were itching to get in line and try your best at it. You had never done it before, but it couldn't be that hard right? It seemed like fun and you knew you'd need a few more drinks in you before that became an option. So that's what the two of you did, sipping on a few drinks and watching people wipe out on the bull as the night went on. The time came where the drinks had finally made you loosen up enough to get in line, pulling Connor to stand with you as you waited.
"I think I could do it," You declared with a smile, looking up at the android as if trying to prove a point.
"I don't doubt you for a second. But might I add that you're slightly intoxicated and will probably fall off much easier than you think," he pointed out with a chuckle. Before either of you could say much else, it was your turn already. You had a bit of trouble walking on the padding in your heels, thankfully Connor was there to hold your hand and help you. The crowd whooped and hollered upon seeing a young woman like you take a stab at it, knowing you were in for a ride whether you got thrown off or if you stayed on. Struggling to get on the bull due to your height, Connor placed his hands on your waist and lifted you effortlessly on top. Your skirt rode up just a little as you settled on top of the machine, noticing how the crowd was urging Connor to join you. Connor blushed just a little, but realized it was probably best for him to get on and hold you. Mostly because he didn't want to see you get thrown off and to make sure you didn't get hurt in your current state. But a little part of him liked the idea of having to hold you against him, any excuse to touch your soft and warm skin.
Connor folded and hopped on the bull behind you, your cheeks dusted with pink as you turned around to look at him. Your ass was pressed right into his lap, it was a tight fit. All he did was give you a wink and a smirk before the operator let the bull roar to life, starting off slow to be merciful. Problem was, you were able to grip onto the handle at the neck of the bull and Connor had nothing. But the android, perfect as ever, was able to roll himself in time with the bull and didn't really need to hold onto anything. He spotted you slipping just in the slightest and placed a firm hand on your hip, holding you against him so you wouldn't fly off. You felt like there was steam coming out of your ears when you felt his hand grip you, the tilting of the bull was basically making you both grind against each other. Suddenly the bull tipped its nose downward and you let out a pitiful squeak as your body lurched forward. Your chest was flush against the bull as you held on for dear life, feeling Connor fall against your back slightly. His free hand came to secure your other hip, the operator feeling a little mischievous as the bull practically vibrated and forced your ass to jiggle tantalizingly. Your face was tomato red at this point from feeling Connor press up into you, but you felt like your head was going to pop off your shoulders when you felt your skirt riding up off your butt. You made the mistake of letting go of the handle with one hand to pull your skirt down, which then drew in Connor's attention. The sight of you bent over in front of him with your ass bouncing against his lap was enough for him to bite the inside of his cheek hard enough he tasted thirium. It was all so ridiculous, you couldn't help but giggle nervously as you tried your best to sit up so you weren't in such a compromising position. Connor noticed and immediately grabbed the crook of your elbow to pull your back closer towards his chest, and while at first you were grateful to not have your tits pressed against the uncomfortable metal, you realized how naughty it really felt. You tried your best to hold on for dear life, Connor expertly trying to keep your balance by holding onto your hips and pulling you back against his sturdy body. In his point of view, he was getting the best show of his life. Your ass pressed right against him perfectly, your little giggles and noises of surprise, the way your hair flipped. He was a gentleman at heart, but something mischievous in his brain made him buck his hips against you a few times when he didn't really need to. The thought of being underneath you while you rode him all night or pounding into you from behind didn't leave his mind until the bull finally stopped and the crowd cheering tore him out of his dirty fantasies. You thanked everything that the bull had ceased its movements and you kept a bit of dignity by staying on thanks to Connor. Hank wasn't around to see you two act like this and you mentally cheered, there would be no way the old man wouldn't tease you about it forever and ever. You felt Connor get off the bull and he reached up to carefully lift you off as well, the feeling of his hands on you was fucking addicting. It gave you more of an adrenaline rush than being on the mechanical bull itself. Your face was flushed, and you tried your best to tame your hair as Connor helped you off the mats and back towards the bar. Random people in the crowd were patting him on the shoulder and shaking his hand while they praised you for not getting thrown off so quickly. A few patrons commented how much of a show the both of you put on, which made the both of you blush a little harder. You had never seen Connor so flushed with blue until now. It suited him, made him look all the more innocent even though he had literally been grinding against you in front of the whole establishment to see. You both made your way over to a table away from the crowd, a server handing you both some water before scurrying away.
"That was quite fun," Connor spoke up first, running a hand through his messy hair. Something you always found interesting was that he did sweat a little like a human, not nearly as much, but enough for you to notice a sheen to his perfect skin. He was huffing to catch his breath just a little to cool down his internal systems. You couldn't help but burst out laughing at his little comment.
"Yeah that was a lot more fun than I expected. Thank you for keeping me from falling, I think I would've been thrown off the first minute," you said between chuckles, having the hardest time making eye contact with him. Your heart was racing, not because of the leftover adrenaline but because you were hanging onto every shred of self control you possessed not to pounce on him and kiss him silly. Connor laughed lightly along with you, leaning over you and talking right by your ear so you could hear him better.
"I'm sorry if I was a little inappropriate touching you like that. I should've asked for permission," he spoke lowly, but his lips were curled up in a bit of a mischievous smile. You swore you felt a shiver run down your spine at his tone, sweet like honey. It was almost like you could still feel his grip on your hips, and it made you a bit lightheaded.
"I didn't mind... in fact I really liked it," you shot back, your voice just a little more sultry than you intended but you didn't care. Connor pulled back away from your ear and gave you a surprised smile, like he couldn't believe you had even said such a thing. Your eyes met in a bit of a stare, trying to figure out how the both of you felt. It only took a moment before you could see the desire in his eyes mirroring your own, and all your self restraint was thrown out the window. The music was bumping and people were loudly cheering and dancing, but all of it turned to background noise when you stood on your tippy toes and smashed your lips to his. You closed your eyes and brought a gentle hand up to rest on his cheek, melting into him. Connor saw it coming but was still surprised when he felt you kiss him, his eyes widening before fluttering closed and relaxing. He brought a polite hand to the small of your back, pressing your body against his even more. His other hand buried itself in the locks on the back of your head, cradling you like you were worth more than anything in the world. The two of you fit together perfectly, and you couldn't help but think back to the first time you met him those months ago. How your hand just felt right in his when you shook it. The kiss was sweet but filled with all the unspoken desire and feelings you both had harboring for a while. You had to pull back for air, the two of you looking at each other so closely like no one else in the world mattered. His thirium pump was working overtime and you could feel the gentle thumping against your chest, making you smile. Before either of you could say anything, a familiar voice piped up.
"Hey kids, we gotta fuckin' go," Hank slurred as he approached you both, clearly wasted. For a functioning alcoholic, that was definitely a good sign to take him home. You and Connor pulled away reluctantly, as if Hank cared at all, and the two of you helped the older man stand properly to walk him out of the bar. As you helped Hank to the car, the two of you flashed a look to one another. Connor smiled brilliantly at you, making your heart leap in your chest. You smiled back at him, more than excited to see how your relationship would blossom over time.
