Bereaved

Summary:

Sad Lucien thoughts, i dunno man.

Notes:

I'm not a writer, matter of fact, i need a writer that can articulate my thoughts and make it readable.

Work Text:

Vanserra's do not show what they feel.
They deceive.

The one thing that Eris had told him maybe out of kindness.

It was the only way to survive in the Autumn Court.
In his family.
Beron.

Eris had told him this from when he was 8, maybe he got sick of seeing me getting beaten by Beron over and over again. Unlike the others, I couldn't quite figure out what Beron exactly wanted from me when he would lock me up in that tiny room.

Dungeon if I'm being honest.

There was never any light, sound, food or water.
It was horrible.
Every time Beron would threaten to lock me up there, I would start shaking.

And that was my mistake.
I showed weakness.
I showed him how that made me feel. And he used it against me.

Vanserra's do not show what they feel.
They deceive.

We're all liars.
We continuously lie about everything.
Our loyalty to the court.
Our loyalty to each other.
Our loyalty to anyone else.

Everything we say is a carefully crafted lie that always works in our favor.

That's what I've been doing ever since.

So what if we're called schemers?
At least we're safe.

Our weaknesses won't be known and so they won't be used against us.

But oh...

The night I met Jesminda changed everything.

I wish I hadn't.

It would've been so much easier if I never met her.

She tore down those walls I'd built up, saw through every lie I told, every tale I spun.

I couldn't lie to her.

And slowly she made me open up to her, I mean, how could you say no to her?

Her warmth, a bright glow that lures you in with empty promises of safety.

She was my one and only happiness.

She was my weakness.

And it showed.

And so, like all things I've ever held dear.

I lost her.

Vanserra's do not show what they feel.
They deceive.
