Chapter Text
⁛BEEEEP, a long and loud alarm hollows through the plantation Grace Field House. A group of children on the unreachable wall, covering their ears, seem to continue running. The view on the mother: Isabella, a young woman with black hair clothed in her white sleeping gown, is currently running into the forest while communicating with the headquarters. Her step is fast and hard as she kneels down to await further instructions.
After split seconds, the woman knows where to go and what to do. Her hands reach into her sleep gown's pockets as she pulls out a pocketknife with her right hand, running towards the wall. Just like in the past, she swings up with one of the ropes the kids must have used and starts running for her dear life; meanwhile, the 15 children, the main focus on the smart Norman, and a shocked Ray, Don, Gilda, Nat, and Anna are all strapped to the plan Norman had constructed. In everyone's mind, just one person: Emma. The young, cheerful girl who gave her life to make this day possible.
Norman, leading the children along to the cliff as they start to fulfill their escape plan, ropes and hangers in hand, the children began passing down the huge cliff that builds up in front of them, and a panting mother is now standing across from her dear son, Ray. The one she had carried in her for 9 full months, the one she was not able to love as her own. Reaching her hand out, the boy stares at her, impressed by the situation. He swings his hanger on the rope upon him. Isabella, crying for her children, brought out a "Ray, don't go," as tears marked her cheeks.
But the boy did not listen, as he now swung off and left the cliff and his mother behind and the childhood he had wished had never gotten so painful. All the 15 escapees run away deep into the forest that lies beyond the cliff. Left behind is the burning house of Plantation Three of Grace Field House and a broken mother who now wipes off her tears and cuts off the flying ropes.
Ready for her punishment and having accepted that she had failed, she headed back to the house. There, a ton of children waited for their dear mother, including a young boy named Phil. The kids who had been left behind for safety reasons were at maximum four years old and were surely going to be saved before they could be harvested. Phil stared up at his mother, swinging in for a warm and safe hug. The boy could not help but cry out of happiness.
Isabella, the mother who had failed to report to headquarters and was not able to keep her children in place, now settles down under a tree with all the young children lying around her. Covered in blankets, they peacefully sleep, the four-year-old Phil on her lap. She thinks about her childhood, and then a picture of Emma fades in: The 12-year-old girl in her shipment uniform, hugging her siblings as she leaves the house. Prepared to give her life for her siblings.
Isabella remembers how she walked her daughter to the gate, humming as Emma held her hand. She seemingly has given up all hope: the outside has no place for humans. Accepting? No, she had never accepted that. Isabella knew that, and she knew Emma would never give up. She hoped deeply Emma could find aid and break all these children free one day. Emma's glimpse of hope was passed on to those 15 children who are now free from the cruel farm life.
... But the system is too strong to be brought down by just some children. Grace Field was only one of four premium-producing cattle farms. The night passed as the young woman woke up in a cell, her young children vanished from the grass they all fell asleep in. Death awaits her, but then, a light: her own grandmother, who trained Isabella all those years, held responsible for her actions: Hope. She had hope now.
Gladly, Isabella accepted the position of grandmother from Peter Ratri himself. From that day on, Isabella became the Grandmother of Grace Fields training facility, aiming to thrive in her new role for as long as she may have.
