Chapter Text
14 year-old Iruma Suzuki and Kusuo Sa- Suzuki, are both kind to a fault. (Well, it's more like one is exceptionally kind and innocent and the other just goes along with him.)
These two brothers barely look alike at all, and their personalities are almost the opposite of each other. However, that doesn't change the fact that they have been together for most of their lives, surviving through every ridiculous situation their parents make them go through.
Iruma can't say no to anyone, even though he's tired of it himself.
Kusuo just tags alongside Iruma, protecting both him and himself, and helping him whenever necessary.
He knows Iruma is quite capable of being on his own- probably. But ever since he had stumbled upon this world, he's been feeling a weird sense of responsibility to take care of him.
His powers had also been a bit unstable in this world, but luckily he was able to train his control bit by bit— thanks to the said 'ridiculous situations' that their so-called parents somehow manage to put them through.
In short, their parents have always been scumbags.
They've always lacked common sense.
"Oh! Honey, look! They both stood up at the same time!" Their mother happily exclaimed, as Iruma waddled around and Kusuo stood awkwardly, following his brother slowly.
"Wow! Good job!" Their father cheerfully spoke,
"I guess you're ready to be independent now!"
"Alright, let's go tuna fishing, boys!"
As ridiculous as it sounds, at the age of 1, the two brothers were forced to face the world. Starting with tuna-fishing.
Since then, they both spent 14 years being dragged into trouble by their good-for-nothing parents. Just because of their strong desire for money.
'As a result of enduring all that hardship, I've developed a habit of accepting anything I'm asked to do. And my brother always went along with it as well..' Iruma silently sobbed internally.
'But this.. this is too much..!'
Currently, the two brothers had the same thought.
'They definitely went too far!!'
They definitely went too far.
"Out of curiosity, we tried to summon a demon but then it actually worked! He told us he'd give us money in exchange for the both of you, and we just couldn't resist!" Said our so-called parents through whatever speaking device the demon had held out in front of them.
To think I'd experience being sold to a demon. Actually, maybe living with an actual demon is better than living with those two people that may be worse than demons.
"You both know that even if we're seperated, we'll still be watching over you two, right? Ah- have some donperi!"
Wow, how considerate our parents are. Still watching over us as we are sold to a demon- how caring.
Kusuo's blank expression showed a bit of annoyance, or maybe an expression one would give whenever someone tells them the most dumbest thing they have ever heard in their life to the point it makes them speechless and question their existence.
"Yes, I'm a demon." The demon in front of them confirmed his identity, making Iruma tremble and sob quietly in fear for their life, and Kusuo held back a sigh from escaping his lips.
'I can't believe this..!' Iruma continued to sob, both inside and outside.
"I believe you two should be angrier at your parents for their behavior." The demon in front of them said, he sat with one leg over the other, his arms crossed and his expression quite intimidating, though even if it wasn't, the fact that he was a demon still made him scary.
"We are angry!" Iruma shouted, "That's why, the next time I see them.. I'll.. I'll..!" Iruma stuttered, trying to find the words.
"Tell them how mad we are!" He yelled as loud as he could.
"..What he said." Kusuo held back from breaking through the ropes tying them up and slamming his forehead right at his palm.
"Well.. I guess you're not used to being angry.." the demon commented.
"Well, I never thought that this would be easy, and I don't intend to let this chance go." The demon stood up, his foot stomped on the floor and the atmosphere around him seemed to turn just as intimidating as his expression was currently becoming.
"Now, I think we're ready."
Iruma couldn't help but scream for his life, and Kusuo probably would have been screaming as well if he didn't know the demon's true intentions.
And so, the two brothers are now unexpectedly being pampered by a demon.
Well, on the plus side, turns out being with a demon IS better.
"Uh.. what is this?" Iruma hesitantly asked. They were both on their own individual couches, a fruit basket filled with all types of weird looking fruits neatly placed on small circular tables besides them, and a frilly bib around their necks. All Kusuo could put his focus on were the fruits- which reminded him of how hungry he is.
Are these fruits really edible? I don't even know how to eat them.
"This is my ultimate super deluxe pampering set!" The demon hummed cheerfully as he poured tea in a teacup, his earlier intimidating aura disappeared without a trace.
"You see, I'm actually a bachelor.. But I've aaaaalways dreamt of having a grandchild!" The demon took both Iruma and Kusuo's hands in his, then kneeled down.
He's quite tall. I wonder if that's normal for demons.. and he obviously looks powerful. Better not mess with him.
"So.. Iruma-kun, Kusuo-kun.." the demon spoke as gently as possible, "Won't you two be my grandsons?" He stared at the two expectantly.
"HUH!?"
"Hm.."
The two had completely opposite reactions, but the two had always made the same decisions. (Mostly because Kusuo always goes with whatever Iruma chooses to do, he doesn't care that much.)
"It's just-! I'm so jealous of my friends when they brag about their grandchildren!!"
"Please!! I'll buy you both anything!"
"I'll spoil you as much as you want, so please!"
Anything..
Kusuo wandered off to dreamland, imagining all sorts of types of sweets the demon world could offer.
"Wha- what do you mean..?" Iruma only felt flustered by the demon's continuous ranting.
"Do we really have a say in this?" Kusuo felt the need to speak out, knowing that he probably won't have any lines if the author only focused on giving Iruma all the dialogue at this point.
The demon let go of their hands and replied, "Of course! I'll respect your wishes. You can refuse if you really want to!" The demon said considerately, he has been more caring than their so-called parents had ever been in their life.
As Kusuo heard that answer, he had already agreed in his heart, however, he still chose to go along with whatever Iruma would choose.
Well, with how Iruma is like, I doubt he'll refuse.
After all, he also already knew in his heart that Iruma most likely can't refuse this.
So in the end.. before Iruma could refuse, the demon begged which led to Iruma unable to continue.
TOP 3 PHRASES TO CONVINCE IRUMA!
1. Please
2. Help
3. I'm begging you
And all three phrases had been used by the crying old demon in front of them, which the author chose to skip writing.
"Ku, are you alright with this.. too?" Iruma reluctantly asked his brother, who he knew, as always, would always go along with what he chose no matter what.
"You already know my answer." Iruma only laughed awkwardly at his answer.
"Yeah, that's true.."
The two brothers signed and stamped the contracts of adoption.
'I couldn't refuse..! I can't believe I blew my chance.. Why can't I say no.. So pathetic. And I dragged Ku in too..' Iruma continued to cry silently as he sat on the floor in despair, his brother patting his back for comfort- not that it helped very much.
Isn't it too late for regrets now, Iruma? And besides, this might actually not be that bad.
'How could I say no to a crying old man..?"
"I'm sorry, Ku.."
"I don't think there's anything you should be sorry about."
Iruma looked at his brother with twinkling eyes.
'Even in this situation, Ku can still stay so calm..! I need to calm down, too.'
I think we've been in too many weird situations at this point.
"Well, now that it's decided.."
All of a sudden, their clothes literally.. poofed as the changed into similar uniforms just from one snap of the demon's hand.
"Wh--what is this??" Startled, Iruma tried his best to process what just happened.
"Uniforms..?" Kusuo was also quite startled, luckily he wasn't too surprised. Too much shock could make him blow up something random nearby- due to his still unstable powers.
But he was more curious about the ability the demon used..
"Surprise!!"
"For my first grandchildren, everything must be perfect! Your clothes, food, accomodations, and.."
I have to admit, I'm not sure I like where this is going.
"Education! I'll be enrolling you both in a demon school!"
Two humans going to a demon school- great.
"Because of your parents, you both weren't able to attend school, right!?"
"Don't worry, I already finished all the paperwork! You don't have to worry about anything else, after all, I'm your grandpa!"
"Ahhh, that has a nice ring to it. "Grandpa~". let's take a photo by the school gate on the first day, okay?"
"Wait, hold on.." Iruma tried to get a word in, still baffled by everything their now demon grandfather was saying.
"It's the first time humans have ever enrolled in a demon school.."
"It's okay! If they don't figure it out, you won't be eaten!" their demon grandfather- that I will now be calling Sullivan cause I can't take it anymore- put up a thumbs up gesture as if proud of himself for getting his two human grandchildren to a demon school where they could possible be eaten.
And I really don't like the sound of that.
Kusuo's fantasy of just peacefully exploring the variations of snacks that they have to offer in the demon world had just been thrown out the window.
'This is bad, I didn't expect it to be like this..'
Well it's not as if I didn't expect it either, but..
Kusuo suddenly felt a bit gloomy.
"Uh, um.."
"But, you know, I'm glad that you both are such good kids!" Sullivan continued to speak, making Iruma still unable to get any word in, and Kusuo just gave up entirely.
"If you both had refused to be my grandsons, I would have had no choice but to have you two for dinner.."
"..."
"..."
Right, a demon is still a demon. With how unstable my powers must be now, I wonder if we would've still had the chance to escape..
"Huh? Did you two say something?"
"N-no, sir."
"No, sir.."
Thus, preparations for the school entrance ceremony went on...
They were now at the pathway to the school, and both Iruma and Kusuo were quite awestruck at the sight.
"It's huge! Right, Ku?" Iruma pointed out, glancing at his brother's face which was as neutral as usual, though even he couldn't hide his obvious curiousity. He only nodded at Iruma's comment.
"Do you think we'll survive here..?" Iruma's expression instantly turned gloomy when he remembered this was a demon school, "I'm sure we'll be fine." Kusuo replied.
He felt a bit excited too, something he doesn't usually feel. The fact that he might actually be able to use his abilities for things other than just escaping ridiculous situations back in earth.
Now, he wouldn't be the only person in the world with powers, he would be lying if he said he wasn't at least a little bit thrilled.. and curious.
"Iruma-kun, Kusuo-kun, let's take a photo!" Sullivan called them over to take a photo at a sign with the words "Entrance Ceremony" written on it.
Iruma awkwardly smiled as Kusuo stood with his usual blank expression during their little photoshoot with Sullivan in the middle smiling like a real proud grandfather.
Sullivan soon quickly left them, and now they were sitting between a bunch of demons.
The ones sitting next to them were two giant demons- well, atleast, compared to their size.
Well, this is honestly very terrifying.
"I smell something delicious.." spoke the demon next to Iruma spoke up, both Iruma and Kusuo flinched, Iruma shivered in fear as Kusuo tried his best to keep his composure.
'Grandpa said that the special perfume would mask our human scent.. why would he even go that far to enroll me into this demon school anyway...'
Good grief, it's so loud.
Kusuo's fear was overlapped by his growing headaches from all the thoughts going around and overwhelming his own.
"Ku, are you alright?" Iruma gently placed his hand on Kusuo's shoulder, noticing his discomfort.
"Don't worry about it."
You'd think, after all they had been through together Iruma would know about Kusuo's psychic powers at this point, but the said pinkette chose to be stubborn.
Iruma continued to look around after confirming Kusuo was fine.
'I thought it'd be scarier, but I guess it's still a proper school, huh.'
Kusuo only silently agreed to him, it still somewhat did seem like a proper school. But then again, their standards are much more different to what a 'proper school' would be. Humans are humans, and demons are demons.
"For our school anthem!"
Everyone stood up and the two did the same, and the anthem started.
"Fleshy humans art our food. We shalt feast on their blood, souls, and meat till nought is left."
'Right, we definitely should not stand out.'
Even in their school anthem they're out for human blood..
Both Kusuo and Iruma were unable to follow along with the singing.
