Chapter Text
For as long as May can remember, every time Thane would buy her a gift, she'd hear the same sentence every single time.
"For you, moja ljubavi."
And then, a small, yet affectionate kiss on her cheek.
Not that she's complaining. Far from it, indeed. But a man like Thane is never the type to follow a certain pattern.
Are they opposites attract? Of course. May loves a schedule, a plan and a nice dedicated journal. Thane? Quite the opposite. Indecisive, can't stick to one thing, all that stuff.
It was Thursday. And after countless disapproving stares and glares from May when Thane forgot about their date, he had finally gotten used to it. He's definitely not the richest, but he can always afford to get her at least a small gift every week.
And now, he stands outside her house, leaning against his car, holding a beautiful bouquet with her favorite colors.
May is a firm believer of being exactly on time. If Thane has to wait three petty minutes because he got there a bit early, not her problem, why would it be?
Thane doesn't mind. After all, it's all worth it to him when he gets to see his lady dolled up every time.
The second it turns exactly 6:00pm, May is out the door, with a gentle smile.
God, that smile.
"Thane, is that a new suit-?" May inquired, considering the fact that Thane usually wore the same old black suit he owned. Seeing him in a blue tux is something May would've accepted as a birthday gift at this point.
"Mhm. Here.. For you, moja ljubavi." He said as he handed the bouquet of flowers to her right hand, holding the left with his own.
"It's gorgeous...Thank you, darling." To know that he remembers all her favorite colors, despite the fact that she only ever said them once, means more to her than he could ever imagine.
Thane nodded in acknowledgment, smiling. He opened the car's passenger door and let her settle first before he got in the driver's seat.
"So, ljubavi, where do you want to go?" Thane looked at May, waiting for her response.
Their dates were usually a surprise location, so he usually let May choose their destination.
"I've already booked reservations at that fancy restaurant you've been eyeing." She says, not expecting him to pale.
"...'Scuse me..? Why on earth would you do that?! I definitely can't afford that...The water there is like 5 bucks, and it's literally tap water!" He starts rambling, the panic in his voice evident.
"Thane." She tries to intervene, but has no avail.
All it took was a pinch from those 'sharp claws', as Thane refers to them, for him to snap out of his panicked trance.
"What?" He asked.
"Thane, I'm going to pay for it." The sentence May just uttered earns a fit of laughter from Thane.
"Hah! That's funny, doll. That's also not happening." Thane retorts. He's never liked the idea of May paying for him.
"Why not?! I have money too! You never let me pay for you. How ruude."
"It's not about money, ljubavi. Y'know I love paying for you, dontcha? Let me have this," He discreetly pleads.
May lets out an exasperated sigh and finally gives in, nodding in resignation.
