The sun shone warmly, and bird chirps echoed in the sky, peaceful morning, and yet… the sound of a microwave could be heard.
PING!
Kaelix groaned as the sunlight peeked through the curtained window, hitting him on the face. He shifted a little bit and patted the empty space on the bed beside him.“Zeal’s already up,” he muttered to himself along with a sad sigh. “So early in the morning..”
Since they had gotten together and somewhere along the line, got married, this has become their usual morning routine. Zeal would wake up before Kaelix, who loves to sleep in and prepare the microwaved coffee that he loves then tea for Kaelix.
Despite Kaelix saying he was fine with the coffee, Zeal would refuse and say “I refuse to let you destroy your taste buds with my microwaved coffee” along with a chuckle that always melts Kaelix’s heart. Then get ready for the day, visit their friends, do their jobs, and return to each other’s arms at the end of the day.
Thinking about it makes Kaelix even more sleepy and sappy, which he will never admit to anyone. (I think they already know..)
Just as Kaelix was about to drift back to sleep, He felt something move beside his side underneath the covers. Kaelix forgot something in the usual morning routine.
His baby.
“Gah!”
Kaelix lifted the sheets to reveal a cute, chubby baby laying next to him. “Woah, how’d you get in here little one?” Kaelix whispered, smiling as he scooped up the baby.
The baby in return, cooed even more in the arms of his mama and curled against his mama’s chest. “Sleep more please” Kaelix kissed the top of the baby’s head with much love and gentleness.
Kaelix remembered the day he surprised Zeal that they were going to be parents.
“I’m so darn happy, kaelix. I love you.” Zeal said under his breath as tears were forming when he was hugging Kaelix that day.
Then told the rest of By The Beat.
“Kae-chan! I’m so happy for you, uwuahh!” Seible pulled the bouncer into a tight hug.
“Congratulations to the both of you!” Freodore nodded with a smile to both Zeal and Kaelix, not noticing that his eyes were getting a bit glossy.
By The Beat supported him during all that time.
“Kae-chan! You are hereby suspended as By The Beat’s bouncer for uhh!!” Seible looked at Freodore in which he replied to the promoter with 9 fingers up. “You are suspended for 9 months!!”
“WWHATT?!”
“And maybe a couple of weeks too, yeah?” Zeal intruded in with a plate of sliced apples and placed it down on the coffee table.
“This time, we’ll be the one protecting you.. and your baby, Kae-chan!”
He was grateful that Zeal wasn’t angry at him during all of his emotional tantrums as he called them. He just couldn’t keep his emotions in check that time and would apologize to Zeal a thousand times if he ever realizes amidst tantrums.
“Kaelix, stop apologizing and get in bed”
“I- hic I’m so sorry!! Zeal!!”
When he felt insecure sometimes.
“Kaelix, you are carrying our beloved baby”
“yeah..”
“There’s no need to be ashamed of this bump at all” Zeal caressed the intruding bump “Infact, I think it fits you perfectly.”
“Someone said I looked like I ate a balloon!!” (ngl he 8)
“Nonsense, they were just joking which is terrible” Zeal kissed the back of Kaelix’s neck.
“I love seeing you so full of me…This is my child. Ours.” Zeal pressed more kisses to his husband’s neck
“Zeal! Jii-sann!” Kaelix yelped
Or when his cravings get too much.
“Bananas seem so good right now”
“Darling, you are allergic to bananas.”
Or
“Zeal, could you call up Freodore so he could cook me some mac and cheese”
“I’m right here?? Why Freodore??”
“‘Cause i want to see him cook” Zeal sighed as he took his phone from the bedside table….
Overall, his past self never thought he’d be able to have a child considering his clumsy and fearful nature back then. But now, holding his baby, he realized he had been wrong. The baby let out a soft gurgle and shifted in Kaelix’s hold.
“Guess I was so wrong, huh?” Kaelix whispered and gently brushed a thumb across the back of the baby’s soft head. “I love you so much, thank you for sparkling our world.”
