Neither of them could say it. They left this thing between them unacknowledged in the hopes that it would fade. Everyone they once loved, everyone they had both allowed themselves to love, had either died by or because of them.
But they would never hurt each other, and they would never allow the other to be hurt. Boba knew that he would die for Vader in a heartbeat.
They couldn’t say ‘I love you’, but they found other ways to express it.
“You know you’re always welcome on my ship, right?” Boba said.
Vader’s helmet tilted, almost affectionately. “I know.”
