Work Text:
minho is a very polite and sweet cat hybrid. he’s spoiled, but for good reason. he follows directions, shows respect, and is just overall good. he lives with seven other men, all of which love him very much, so he’s more than happy with his life. there’s only one thing that minho dislikes, that he deeply despises . that one thing is…having his sleep interrupted.
as a cat, minho sleeps a lot. when he was first brought home, he slept so often that the rest of his new family would think he wasn’t even breathing sometimes. so, chan, his eldest and wisest owner, decided to put minho on a schedule. he’ll have his daily nap, but the naps can’t exceed three hours. minho must be woken up at the three hour mark, lest he ruin his perfectly curated schedule.
for minho, this was the worst part of his day. if it was up to him, he would sleep for days on end, but no! his loving, beautiful owners have to ruin his sleep every day. for the others, they wouldn’t mind the rules if minho was easy to wake. but, minho was probably the most difficult person to wake up in the world. if one of them tried to wake him, they risked getting hissed at or having pillows thrown at them. minho even cried once because he was so against the idea of waking up from his sleep.
only one method of waking the stubborn hybrid has worked: han jisung. for some reason, minho was like putty when it came to jisung. the rest of the group claimed without a doubt that jisung was minho’s favorite owner. the man was able to sweet talk minho into doing just about anything, and one of the things he used his privilege for was waking minho from his naps.
——
it was about time for minho to wake up, he’d been sleeping for close to three hours and fifteen minutes . jisung let him rest for a little longer, since the first time he entered the room to wake the cat ended in him taking a good twenty photos of the sleeping hybrid. minho was an adorable sleeper, his usually sharp facial features were beautifully soft while he was asleep. his lips always remained in a cute pout, and his eyebrows were always drawn together just a little bit. while asleep, minho looked like a very serious but endearing cat, and jisung was nothing but weak for him.
jisung stood from his position on the couch, sliding his slippers on and walking down the hall towards the room that he and minho shared. minho would end up asleep in jisung’s bed more often than his own, so jisung just decided to buy a huge bed for the both of them.
jisung made it to his bedroom, turning the handle of the door as quietly as possible to avoid startling the sleeping beast that lay inside. he toed off his slippers and walked his socked feet across the carpeted floor to stop in front of the bed. he struggled to make out the lump of blanket that was present before him. it wasn’t until he saw a piece of the blanket twitch that he knew minho was somewhere in the middle of the bed.
“minho…?” jisung calls. he got no response, so he tried something else. he grabbed the edge of the blanket closest to the head of the bed and began to tug at it gently, hoping to reveal at least a piece of minho. jisung pulled, and suddenly a pair of black velvety ears appeared from underneath the blanket.
“ah, there you are.” he said to himself. minho hasn’t budged yet, the blanket tugging doing close to nothing to rouse him from his slumber.
“minho, nap time’s over, kitty.” jisung spoke a little louder, putting some bass into his voice to try and get to minho. the blankets shuffled, but again nothing indicated that minho was awake.
jisung dug his hands under the blanket, moving them around until he felt minho’s stomach. minho was a big fan of belly rubs, so jisung used this to his advantage. he left one hand on the hybrid’s stomach, rubbing gently circles into the skin, while his other hand made its way into minho’s hair. minho was also quite appreciative of head scratches, particularly scratches between and behind his ears. jisung scratched in all minho’s sweet spots until minho abruptly jerked away from his touch.
jisung moved his hands out of the blankets and stood still, waiting for his sign.
“ mmmph..” there it was . minho had let out his key indicator that he was awake: a long, raspy whine.
“oh, good morning , minho.” jisung cooed. he watched as minho stretched and rolled around in bed before sitting up. minho was still tangled in the blankets, his face scrunched and hair a mess. jisung chuckled but stopped when minho sent him a threatening glare.
“sorry, kitty. you ready to get up?” jisung’s asked even though he already knew the answer. minho shakes his head, bringing jisung’s attention back to the hybrid’s messy hair. he was blinking heavily, clearly struggling to keep his eyes open.
“you look so cute, you big baby.”
“hmph.” minho was not a man of many words when he was fresh out of sleep. he was silent, save for the few whines he would produce. luckily for minho, jisung happened to be fluent in post-nap minho whines.
“did you sleep well?” jisung asks. minho nods. the hybrid tilts his head in jisung’s direction, whining again. ah, the scratch me please whine. jisung chuckled, walking over to stand in front of minho. he buried his hands in the cat’s soft black hair, taming his wild bed head.
“your hair’s gettin’ so long , baby.” jisung commented. he brushed the long locks away from minho’s eyes and left a gentle kiss on his forehead, continuing to run his fingers through the rest of minho’s hair. he scratched right behind minho’s ears, getting the cat to let out a deep purr.
“ oh, does that feel nice? i bet it does, sleepy kitty.” jisung cooed. minho pushed his head into jisung’s hands, prompting him to scratch a little harder. jisung complied, using all of his acquired minho knowledge to get at all his favorite spots. minho rubbed his eyes with a closed fist, sighing.
jisung looked down, finding that minho’s eyes had closed again. he couldn’t have minho falling back to sleep, so he stepped away from the bed, removing his hands from the other man’s hair in the process.
“you gotta get up, minho. i already let you sleep for longer, no more.” jisung spoke. minho looked at him with a pitiful pout, sighing again.
“c’mon, clock is ticking.“ jisung joked. minho merely shivered, whining again. jisung squinted, noticing that minho’s short sleeved shirt left his arms exposed. there were tiny goosebumps littered down his arms.
“are you cold, baby?” jisung asked. he got a nod of approval.
“okay, i’ll warm you up. don’t worry.” jisung pulled his own black hoodie off, walking back to minho to place it onto his lap. minho didn’t budge, he looked down at his lap and then back up at jisung before intensifying his pout
“i have to do it? you really are a baby, huh.” he smiled. jisung picked up the hoodie and helped minho fit his arms and head through the correct holes, fixing the hoodie around his neck and making sure everything was comfortable for his kitty.
minho finally moves to climb out of bed. he holds a hand out, to which jisung grabs, and steadies himself once he’s fully off the bed. he doesn’t have to worry about his feet being cold, since he went to sleep with thick socks on.
“all good?” jisung asks.
“mhhhmm.” minho responds. he’s getting vocal, it seems. jisung counts that as a win, he’s succeeded in waking minho up at least enough to get him to audibly respond to questions.
jisung leads them out of the bedroom, holding minho's hand along the way. minho’s sleek black tail peeks out from the hole in his sweatpants, jisung’s sweatpants, and it sways behind him. minho had complained that none of his owner’s clothes were compatible with his hybrid features, mainly his tail. so, eager to satisfy their house cat, they all promptly cut tail-sized holes in their lounge pants. minho was elated since he was now able to steal clothes from his favorite people without facing any discomfort.
“oh, look who’s awake!” hyunjin spoke when he spotted minho and jisung. hyunjin was banned from waking minho up from his naps. minho had a small grudge against hyunjin for who knows what reason, and whenever hyunjin tried waking him it ended in disaster. the final straw for everyone was when hyunjin sprinted from the bedroom shouting “ he hissed at me!” for the whole house to hear. hyunjin had decided for himself and “his own safety” that he wouldn’t try to wake minho up again.
jisung waved to hyunjin, prompting minho to do the same.
“say hello to jinnie.” he directed. minho wiggled his hand in hyunjin’s direction, and hyunjin waved back with a small smile.
minho took the lead, dragging jisung over to the couch and pushing him onto it. he climbed onto jisung’s lap, getting comfortable with his head pillowed on jisung’s chest.
“wha- minho! you just woke up, you’re going to fall asleep again if we cuddle so soon.” jisung warned.
“just for a little, please sungie?” minho pleaded. he lifted his head from jisung’s chest to look up at him with the most convincing kitty eyes he could muster.
“i guess. but only for a little. five minutes, and you’re getting up. i have chores to do.” jisung caved. he left his chores for after minho’s nap on purpose. minho was similar to a shadow in the way he would follow jisung around the house. so, if jisung was constantly moving and getting his chores done after minho woke up, he’d be waking minho up even more from the constant movement.
minho grumbled, but accepted the deal and laid his head back down. jisung ran his hands up and down minho’s back, giving gentle squeezes on his arms to keep him awake. it felt like jisung had a car engine strapped to his chest with the way minho was purring so loudly.
——
much to minho’s dismay, the five minutes were up. jisung’s phone rang with the alarm that he had set to ensure minho didn’t overstay his position on the couch.
“oh!” he gasped, “time’s up, minho.” jisung didn’t give minho the chance to protest before he gently pushed him onto the couch and off of his chest, standing up and stretching. he bent down to leave another kiss on minho’s head between his ears before walking away to begin his chores.
“where’re you going?” minho asks.
“i have to vacuum my room, well- our room.” jisung says over his shoulder. minho stands and scurries over to follow jisung.
as jisung is vacuuming the bedroom, minho is literally following his every step. he’s so close to jisung he may as well be glued to his back. jisung doesn’t mind, he loves the sound of minho’s pleased purrs and hums.
next, jisung decides that the throw blankets in the living room need to be washed. he makes his way from the living room to the laundry room many times, gathering the blankets one by one instead of just taking them all in one trip. if he wants to wake minho up, he must stretch these chores as long as possible and make minho move as much as possible. minho falls right into the trap, following jisung up and down the hallway, pausing to wait for him to grab a blanket and for him to shove the blanket into the washing machine.
after all the blankets are in the wash, jisung walks into the kitchen and grabs a glass of water for himself. he offers minho a sip, to which he accepts. as jisung is rolling up his sleeves, minho speaks from beside him.
“are you almost done? i wanna watch a movie.” minho whines.
“you can watch your movie, i still have to wash the dishes.” jisung registers minho’s whine as another indicator: minho’s getting bored. when he’s bored, it means he’s woken up enough to realize that he’s not doing anything but making useless laps around the house. usually after this whine, minho will break away from jisung and go on about his day, fully awake.
“hmph. okay.” minho’s tail flicks behind him as he thinks. he wants to watch his movie with jisung, but jisung is busy. but he really wants to watch the movie, and if he waits any longer he’s going to get upset.
“i’ll be finished soon, then i’ll join you. okay? go watch your movie, kitty.” jisung speaks up, clearing the fog in minho’s brain. minho nods, but moves closer to jisung to rub his face into jisung’s neck. jisung giggles from the tickle of minho’s ears against his sensitive neck. he leaves one final kiss on minho’s cheek and scratches under his chin before letting minho leave.
minho settles onto the couch and starts up his movie. he decides to groom himself, licking the back of one of his hands with his rough tongue before dragging it across his cheek. he continues the action, completely immersed in the glowing tv screen in front of him. jisung looks away once he sees minho settled and begins washing the dishes.
jisung is drying his hands after finishing his final chore when hyunjin storms over to him with an accusatory finger pointed in his direction.
“ you! what’s your trick, huh?” hyunjin pokes jisung in the chest, begging for an answer.
“what trick? what are you talking about?” jisung asks. he wasn’t doing anything fancy, he was just washing the dishes.
“with minho! he only lets you wake him up, nobody else! what are you bribing him with, how come he doesn’t let anyone else wake him?” hyunjin asks. he drops his finger from jisung’s chest, settling his hand under his chin and resting his arm on the kitchen counter.
“oh, that. i don’t do anything special , jinnie. i just wake him up. i rub him a little and scratch his head and it seems to work pretty well.” jisung speaks casually. “he likes kisses too, maybe you can try that?” jisung is fully aware that he’s one of minho’s favorite owners, but he won’t brag.
“ugh, i do that! well- i try to . he won’t even let me touch his blanket.” hyunjin whines, “i wanna see sleepy minho, too! it’s no fair.” he sulks.
“i’m sorry, hyunjinnie. maybe he’ll get bored of me and warm up to you? he likes it when you eat with him, maybe you can win him over with food!” jisung suggests. it’s true, minho loves when hyunjin decides to eat his meals with him. he always offers hyunjin a portion of his own food, but he doesn’t do that to anyone else, not even jisung. in fact, he’s very protective of his food.
“i guess.. but it’s still not fair!” hyunjin shouts.
“yeah. i guess i just have sleepy kitty privilege, then.” jisung shrugs with a smirk on his face. hyunjin is about to shout another complaint when minho’s voice is heard from the couch,
“ sungie! are you done yet?” minho shouts. for such a quiet person, his voice can get loud when he wants it to.
“i’m coming, minho! be patient, please.” jisung exclaims. he finishes drying his hands before giving hyunjin a pat on the shoulder and walking into the living room. he flops onto the couch next to minho, who immediately pushes himself into jisung’s personal space.
“ finally , i was getting lonely.” minho sulks.
“oh please, it hasn’t even been that long.” jisung replies, but pulls minho into his chest anyway. the purrs resume immediately and jisung smiles. he’ll cherish this superiority and vulnerability for as long as he can, no jealousy from anyone else is going to change that jisung clearly has some heavy minho privilege.
