RPG

Summary:

Jihoon's role-playing partner Soonyoung is having computer problems, and because Jihoon is helping him so they can continue playing, they see each other for the first time. Their video call is affecting their RPG.

Notes:

Snapshots Bingo Round 2~
Since I won't be able to fill the entire card in the next two weeks, I'll try the special pattern, so hopefully there will be six more Oneshots.

This is the fill for "Online Friends". I struggled with the 1,500-word limit here again. Otherwise there would be another fill.

I miss writing RPGs. I don't know if it was more something VK/anime-related and not Kpop, a generation thing or me not finding the right places, but I really miss it. That's why the characters from Jihoon and Soonyoung's RPG are from the anime Weiß Kreuz - one of my first RPGs :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

...Nagi stopped. Breathing heavily, he looked at Omi, who stood next to him, wet and out of breath. His hands on his knees, as if he had to hold on to keep from falling over.

“We did it, right?”

Jihoon sent the message and waited. But there was no reply. His RPG partner was always pretty quick. He opened the other chat he had with Soonyoung. The one they didn’t write their roleplay.

Jihoon: Are you okay?

Here, too, it took forever for Soonyoung to reply.

Soonyoung: Yes

Soonyoung: No

Soonyoung: I’m having trouble =( I can’t get in anymore

Oh no. Not now. Their characters were about to finally kiss! They’d been working towards this for weeks. Jihoon was having so much fun with their new slow-burn roleplay. Soonyoung couldn’t let him down now. Jihoon was desperate for some love between them!

Jihoon: Can I help you?

Jihoon didn’t think anything of it. Not even when Soonyoung agreed and called him via video call a short time later. Only when Jihoon accepted the invitation and saw the other man did he realize what they were doing.

They didn’t know each other personally. A few weeks ago Jihoon was looking for a new role-playing partner. And Soonyoung had gotten in touch. They’d never seen each other. To Jihoon, he imagined Soonyoung looking like Omi. Short, blond, blue eyes.

But now a damn handsome man was staring at him. With black hair and brown eyes. Fuck, had Jihoon already mentioned that he looked good? Like, incredibly good. In a white shirt with an open red-black-brown checked shirt over it.

Jihoon lowered his gaze to his own image. Shit, what did he look like? He hadn’t left his room today. His hair (the roots of which desperately needed to be redyed) was just tied back in a messy bun. And he was wearing very comfortable, old clothes. In contrast to Soonyoung, he looked...shabby.

“You’re blonde?” Soonyoung’s surprised voice sounded. He leaned closer to the screen.

Jihoon couldn’t help but feel his cheeks warming. He should have left his camera off! He ran his hand over his hair, careful not to make it any messier.

“I know, I should dye it again.”

“Oh, come on. It looks good. I’m just surprised. We should have swapped characters.”

“Ph, like you could play someone like Nagi,” Jihoon replied. He’d finally recovered. Still, he stared at the picture of Soonyoung. Soonyoung grinned at the camera and leaned back.

“You’re right. So look, I have this problem...”

It wasn’t difficult for Jihoon to help Soonyoung with his problem. Soonyoung shared his screen and Jihoon was free to do whatever he wanted. He felt Soonyoung’s gaze on him but Jihoon ignored it.

“Phew, thanks. I would have been in trouble without you,” Soonyoung thanked him as he rejoined their role-playing chat.

“Hmm,” Jihoon said. He noticed that Soonyoung’s attention was no longer on him. He became serious. Was he reading Jihoon’s post?

“Ohhhh,” Soonyoung chimed, looking at Jihoon again. “Are things finally getting serious between them? You keep stalling me for days!” A pout formed on his lips.

“What?” Jihoon asked, unfazed by Soonyoung’s pout. “There wasn’t a good moment. They were never alone.”

Soonyoung shrugged. He leaned back again and looked at Jihoon with a small grin. “What do you think about leaving the camera on? Now that we’ve seen each other? It could be fun.”

Fun? Jihoon enjoyed writing. He could let himself go. But only when no one was watching. If he even thought about anyone other than his role-playing partner reading the things he wrote. No, thanks.

“I don’t know,” he protested. But Soonyoung persisted.

“We’ll try a few posts, okay? It would be a shame to hang up now. Unless you want to jerk off when things get serious.” Soonyoung wiggled his eyebrows and grinned.

Now he was leaving Jihoon no choice but to go along with this!

“Are you alone, or is your roommate barging in again?” That would be a way out. If Soonyoung’s roommate was at home, he definitely wouldn’t do that.

“Ah, good point.” Soonyoung stood up and walked away. Jihoon could see his shelf behind him. There were magazines in it. He couldn’t tell what kind. Below them were two pictures. Both showed Soonyoung and some women. Were they his family?

Soonyoung came back and covered the pictures. He rested his head on his hands, put his elbows on the table, and looked into the camera.

“Ready for some passionate sex between them?”

Jihoon closed his eyes. Absolutely not.

“Are you imagining it?” Soonyoung teased.

“Start writing! How long do I have to wait?”

With a laugh, Soonyoung sat up. He raised his hands and stretched. “Okay, then watch the master at work. If Omi hits on Nagi now, he won’t be able to turn him away.”

“Omi listened. But didn’t hear anyone else. They had finally shaken off their pursuers-”

Soonyoung read along, staring and typing intently at his keyboard.

“Nagi looked into the other’s brown eyes. They seemed so warm. He raised his hand and gently touched Omi’s cheek. He didn’t want to hurt him. Not with his powers. But the urge to touch Omi was stronger. He wanted to be close to him. He wanted-”

“Brown eyes? Jihoon, have you forgotten that Omi has blue eyes?” Soonyoung interrupted his writing.

Jihoon stopped and looked up. “What?”

“You wrote that Nagi looks into Omi’s brown eyes. But Omi has blue ones. That you make such a mistake. I’m usually the one who forgets things.”

Damn, he was distracted. It wasn’t a good idea to be on a video call while they were writing their role play. Even if they didn’t say much.

Soonyoung was such an excellent storyteller. The way he emphasized his sentences made the whole thing even more real. More intense. His voice was pleasant to listen to. And his appearance!

Yes, Jihoon no longer imagined it was Nagi and Omi. But he definitely wasn’t going to tell him that!

“Sorry, I’m changing it,” he apologized without much discussion. He hurried to finish his post without reading it aloud.

When he was finished, he looked up. Soonyoung leaned back in his chair again. He seemed thoughtful. Then he sat up and typed. He didn’t read it aloud this time either. It wasn’t a long paragraph. Unusual. That was one of the things Jihoon appreciated about Soonyoung.

Soonyoung approaches Jihoon. “Do I make you nervous?”

He places his hands on either side of Jihoon’s computer chair and leans down toward him.

“Jihoon,” Soonyoung whispers. He studies the other man. He was so beautiful. He couldn’t get enough of Jihoon. “I’m about to kiss you. Push me away.”

What the...?

Jihoon stared at the text. It wasn’t their role-play anymore. It was...something else. Had Soonyoung noticed that Jihoon had stopped thinking about Omi and was describing him instead?

“Should I read it aloud?” Soonyoung asked.

Jihoon swallowed. He read the text again. Only then did he turn his attention to Soonyoung.

“Or would you rather have a different setting?”

Jihoon had never done anything like this before. Whatever this was. He enlarged the window showing the video call and made their role-play disappear. Then he leaned back as well. Nervously, he licked his lips. Soonyoung’s mouth opened slightly.

“You wrote my name, Jihoon. Once. Let’s try it once. We can stop anytime.”

It would change everything between them.

“Why do you live so far away?” Jihoon whispered quietly, more to himself. They would never be able to see each other. This was...dangerous. Jihoon could become addicted to this. Addicted to a man he could never see.

Once.

Jihoon took a deep breath and began to tell his part:

When you come to me, I look up at you. I...feel a little shabby in your presence. You look so handsome. As if you’ve made yourself beautiful for me. I like the thought.

I place my hands on your collar and pull you close. “I’m not going to push you away, Soonyoung. Kiss me already,” I whisper against your lips.

Before he could continue, Soonyoung answered:

Feeling your lips, even if it’s just light, drives me crazy. I place a hand on your delicate cheek and kiss you. Fuck Jihoon. Your lips are so soft. So incredibly soft. I never want to leave you again. I want to close my eyes and surrender to this wonderful feeling, but instead, I reach into your hair and gently untie your hair tie.

Jihoon raised his hand. He didn’t take his eyes off Soonyoung, and when Soonyoung nodded, he reached for his hair tie and untied it. He ran his hands through his hair several times, while Soonyoung watched him intently and said, “I’m running my hands through your hair as our kiss becomes more passionate.”
