Someone Will Remember Us

Summary:

"Gardenview, a museum and education centre for children, has recently been shut down for reasons not disclosed. The founder, Delilah Keen, wishes not to share why her work has been abandoned. Miss Keen has refused to elaborate on what will happen to the museum; and to the creations inside. Children and families everywhere are devastated, as the popular cartoon 'Dandy's World' from Gardenview's line has also been abruptly stopped. No other previous Gardenview staff have come forward, and it seems it will stay that way."

Chapter 1: See, We're Normal!

Chapter Text

“This place looks like a crime scene.”

Scraps let out an amused huff, “It does, huh?”

Vee crossed her arms, looking around the room. “I refuse to believe all of this mess was necessary.”

Scraps shrugged, her casual smile not wavering. “Maybe, but I’m not upset. I kind of like it.”

“The mess?”

"No, the art. The mess was kind of just a sacrifice.”

Vee glanced at Scraps, her expression puzzled for a moment. “What does it mean? The painting—what’s the meaning behind it?”

“Meaning?” Scraps met Vee’s gaze. “Well… I don’t know.”

“What do you mean, you ‘don’t know?’” Vee implored. Art was supposed to mean things, right? Especially such intricate paintings.

Scraps sighed, tilting her head at the painting, covered in black paint. “I sorta just… painted what I was feeling, but I don’t know what I was feeling at the time.”

“Huh. Odd.” Vee spoke. “You intrigue me, Scraps. Your incredibly annoying luck, your meaningful yet meaningless art, your care for those around you—especially Goob, and your personality.”

"My personality? Whaddya think of it?” Scraps replied as she turned to face Vee, stepping in a small pool of half-dry paint.

Vee thought for a moment, putting it into words. “You’re pessimistic and anxious about things, yet are incredibly cocky when you inevitably win, for example.”

“Of course that’s your first example,” Scraps huffed, an easy smile tugging at her lips.

Vee huffed. “Zip it, craft. Anyway, as I was saying, you also are extremely cautious with things concerning others, but reckless as all Hell when it’s about you.”

“Can’t help it. I got a little brother and a buttload of adventure in me, it’s hard not to be both!” Scraps kicked at the ground. "Oh, did ya know a butt is actually an actual measurement thingie for barrels back in the day? I heard that somewhere!"

"Scraps, tell me what my last sentence was."

"...You're not gonna believe this."

"I definitely can. To jog your memory, I was saying that you're pessimistic and cautious, but reckless and cocky at the same time. It's interesting to me." Vee pondered.

Scraps shifted her weight from one foot to another. "In a good way, or...?"

"Both."

"Oh. Good enough!"
