“Don't crowd them. Are you two okay?” Eda said as Luz and Hunter appeared in the middle of the floor after escaping the emperor's mind.
“He knows. He... he knows we were in there. I can't... I can't go back!”
Hunter starts panicking and hyperventilating, what would he do now?
“Kid, breathe.” Eda said, offering Hunter a hand,
But he couldn't trust them, they were enemies after all. He stood up, and threw his cloak off, horrified at himself for not realising anything sooner. He quickly ran out the door, he didn't know what else to do, he couldn't stay with them, but he also couldn't go back, Belos would kill him if he did. He heard Luz call his name but he didn't turn back, he just kept running, he had to keep running.
“Have to keep running, I have to get away, I can't stay here. I don’t want to die, I don't want to be replaced, I can’t go back, I can’t, I can’t, I can’t-”
Suddenly a hand grabbed his arm, it was a cloaked figure.
“No, no, no, please, he’s going to kill me, no, please, no-”
“Hunter, calm down. It’s ok.”
The hooded figure pulled down his hood, revealing himself to be Darius. Hunter immediately felt more safe, Darius cared about him, but maybe not enough to not turn him in to Belos.
“Please, Darius, he’s going to kill me, I can’t go back, please don’t make me go back…”
“I won’t. Don’t worry, I’m not going to let him hurt you. Now please tell me what happened.”
“We were in the emperor's mind and-”
“Sorry about that, by the way.” One of the other cloaked figures said, taking their hood off and revealing themself to be Raine.
“Maybe it was a good thing… I found out a lot of stuff, most of which I wish I didn't.”
“What did you see, Hunter?” Darius asked.
“I- …”
Could he really tell them he was a grimwalker? Would they still care about him when they found out he was just a clone?
“He wanted to kill me, that's what I saw.” Hunter eventually said.
“Don't worry, I- we won't let him.” and as much as Hunter wanted to believe Darius, he wasn't sure he could.
