Chapter Text
Being the Duke of Meropide, I have met plenty of different characters. Petty thieves, gang members, mass murderers- you name it.. But never have I met anyone like him before…
It was back when I killed my parents that I first met him. His lilac eyes- the window to the soul- showed a sense of pity within him whilst those reptilian slits displayed nothing but judgement. I suppose that was the most reasonable thing he could do in that situation- he was in a role where he wasn’t allowed to pick anyone's side other than the law. Looking back on it, he must’ve been quite lonely- we’re quite similar in that aspect.
The trial went smoothly thanks to my admittance to my crime. I was sentenced to Meropide for 23 years for murdering my step parents with my newly acquired cryo vision. I never regretted what I did even to this day- horrible people deserve a horrible death. Anyways, thanks to my good behaviour and strong sense of strength and leadership, I was able to rise up to the rank of Duke of Meropide. I’ve never had a boring day being the Duke; there’s new criminals every week to fight in the panktration ring, there’s our lovely head nurse to speak to and best of all, I get to see him every week to update him on the status of the fortress.
Archons, that has to be my favourite part of my job. My admiration for that man has no bounds. The way he talks, the way he dresses, the way he composes himself is all so elegant and regal. I think if you were to rank him against everyone else in Fontaine, he would have to have his own category miles above anybody else. Slowly, but surely over the years, this admiration of mine has turned into a heavy crush on him. If I’m being honest, I think it would be weird for someone to not find the Chief Justice attractive even if they had been sentenced to the fortress by him.
All I need to do now is to find a way to make him attracted to me. I mean, I don’t even know if he likes guys or not for starters. The best way I can start is by making sure my appearance is presentable before I see him for our weekly meeting up at the Palais Mermonia. I fix up my tie and sling my wolfskin coat around my shoulders before making my way over to the elevator. As much as I do enjoy going to the surface, the journey sure is tedious.
After what seemed to be an eternity, I finally found myself out at the back of the Opera Epiclese. My steady stroll to the aquabus takes me past the Fountain of Lucine where workers were setting up decorations for the upcoming Love Day event. Ah, why don’t I see if the Chief Justice wants to go with me. I mean the worst he can say is no right?
Carrying on my stroll, I finally arrive at the aquabus and take in the breathtaking scenery of the newly rebuilt Fontaine. Everyone has been busy since the flood but at least the majority of the population are at peace now knowing that the prophecy has been fulfilled. The aquabus ride only took around 5 minutes leaving me plenty of time to spare before my meeting with the Chief Justice. I walk up to the large double doors of the Palais Mermonia and push one of them open. All I could see was gestionnaires running around all over the place trying to get all sorts of documents signed and sorted into different archives and categories. Straight through the chaos was a calm and collected Sedene.
“Good morning Sedene. Is the Chief Justice ready for me yet?”
“Ah, good morning to you too, Duke Wriothesley. Yes he is, you can go on in.”
I turn to my right and gently knock before opening the doors to his office. The first thing I was treat to was his gentle smile and a Good morning from him..
Archons, I think I’m in love.
