Work Text:
Geto, as he does every night, brushed his hair off of the back of his neck and laid down on his back, feeling the cold pillow cover against his neck with a quiet, low yawn. Beside him Gojo dropped onto the bed, the mattress nudging Geto closer ever so slightly.
"You're far too energetic for this time of night." Geto mumbled, already about to turn over to face away.
"I thought of something." Gojo started, ignoring the comment. "I have a question."
"Of course you do." The other sighed, looking over to Gojo's bright eyes.
"Would you still love me if I was a mosquito?" He asked, causing Geto's brows to furrow and his face to scrunch with disgust.
"Excuse me?"
"Okay... I guess that's fair. But then, what if we were both mosquitos? Would you still love me?" Gojo continued, "I'd still love you."
Geto stared at him for a moment. "Are mosquitos capable of love? I thought they just mated and then fucked off somewhere."
"Uh... dunno." The taller shrugged and shuffled closer under the covers. "But that doesn't answer my question anyway." He huffed as Geto turned to lay on his side away from him.
"If mosquitos are able to feel love, then yes." Geto decided to indulge him for once.
Gojo smiled wide, satisfied with the response and leaning over to turn off the bedside lamp. "I'd love you even if normal mosquitos couldn't. Just so you know." He then pressed a kiss to Geto's cheek, hand around his waist and curled right up against him.
"Night." Geto mumbled.

The morning arrived and Gojo woke up with an ache in all of his joints.
"What the fuck?" He wanted to say, but he heard his own voice buzz instead.
He looked around, realising he was on a wall and a horrifyingly large mosquito was right beside him. What the fuck. He stepped back quickly only to realise that he was tiny, not that the mosquito was huge.
"Bzzvrzzz" it buzzed at him. And somehow he understood perfectly.
"Sit still or the human will get that damn fly swatter."
Gojo's eyes darted around as he processed that Geto had just spoken to him via buzzing through a mosquito's body. He can only say it so many times before it gets old, but... what the fuck?
It took some time but eventually he realised what happened. It must have been some kind of curse. Some kind of demon did this to him, surely. But that wasn't necessarily important. He needed to figure out how to survive and then how to return to humanity. Preferably with Geto.
"Hey!" He called out as Geto flew off towards the human, hoping to drink their blood while they were occupied at their desk. It was so risky. They were too unfamiliar.
Gojo watched with bated breath as Geto landed. Things seemed fine... he did it. He succeeded.

The human swatted Geto's mosquito body, sending him flying against the leg of the desk.
"Geto?" Gojo called out, his voice would've cracked if it wasn't a monotone buzz. He flew down only to barely miss the human's hand as it flailed right by him. "Shit!" He cursed under his breath, flying away. He watched in horror as the human grabbed a tissue and wiped Geto's frail remains off of the floor.
Mosquitos are capable of love. The world around them is simply far too cruel to allow them it.
