Work Text:
She wasn’t feeling very motivated to leave the house today.
Small setbacks turned into bigger setbacks that made her feel like life itself was mauling her to the ground.
Yet here she was, in her spot in the park.
The metaphorical boulders keeping her from moving felt lighter and she could finally take a breath to ground herself.
What little composure she had managed to exert was quickly lost to what was in front of her.
What was in front of her you ask?
God’s gift to sapphics.
What had initially caught her eye was striking red hair styled in a way she wouldn’t immediately call attractive. As her eyes wandered further she noticed the color of a rainy afternoon framed by her favorite thing in the world, after women of course, freckles.
The stranger she had been staring at seemed to have caught wind of her actions as she flashed a dashing smile, stretching a scar adorning her upper lip.
Her gaze rested on those lips a second too long as she found herself frowning slightly when those pretty lips suddenly disappeared from view.
It took her a moment to realize what had gone down. It was her stunning stranger that has seemingly tumbled to the ground. Pretty badly at that telling by the splatter of red coloring a small area of the graveled pathway.
Signals in her brain shot her into action and before she could even grasp her own bravery, she was on her knees in front of the woman.
”Oh gods, are you alright? Let me help you up.”
Before she knew it, the most precious calloused hands she’d ever had the privilege of holding was in her grasp. Barely for stability though seeing as the hand on the other side didn’t squeeze harder than a light handshake. As if it was holding fragile porcelain instead of human flesh.
She took it as a sign that the stranger didn’t need much help at all, they were simply too kind to decline. Some wishful thinking told her that maybe the pretty stranger wanted to hold her hand.
Such thoughts only multiplied as that literal shit eating grin graced her presence once more. This time however it had trails of blood lining them.
She knew she was a freak but getting turned on by a bloody nose was a new low for her.
”Thanks cupcake, what would I do without you?”
Was it getting hotter by the minute or was she actually being flirted with right now?
Frozen in place as all her previous adrenaline turned bravery seeped out. Thankfully her new favorite mouth spoke again.
”Can I take you out as means for repaying you for your troubles?”
She could barely process what was being said before her mouth moved on it’s own.
”Troubles?”
She had barely lifted a finger in the grand scheme of things.
”Yeah for helping me out and stuff.”
She was in utter disbelief and a bit of shock.
”I… barely did anything.” A slight pause. ”Why would you take me out over nothing??”
You could see a flicker of uncertainty in those gorgeous grey eyes staring into hers.
After some uneasy shifting she spit out ”You’re hot, cupcake. I’m trying to ask you out on a date here. So what do you say?”
You could practically hear the seconds passing and the cogs turning in her head. Hot, cupcake and date were words that floated past her as each one found it’s place and her realizing what had just been said.
She was being asked out on a date. No amount of doubt in her mind could tell her otherwise.
There she stood, shocked and in awe over how she had scored a date with the most beautiful woman who had ever grazed this earth. By doing absolutely nothing to boot.
”Yes.”
”Yes?”
A small giggle escaped her beloved stranger and even more to come once she noticed she had been standing in silence for far too long before eagerly accepting.
”Let me help you with that” She reached forward, sleeve in hand, only to be swatted away by a much larger arm.
”No need, cupcake. It’ll take more than a tumble to take me down.” Instead the arm that swatted her away mere seconds ago was now wiping away said blood. Not with any great success however so she goes for a second try.
This time triumphant in her action but quickly met by a strong glance of defiance from the stunning woman.
”It’s a date then. Are you free Saturday? I have a great plan for us if you don’t mind me taking the wheel?” A mischievous look and a killer grin was all she needed to comply.
”I’m Vi by the way.”
The blush that crept up her neck spread like wildfire across her face but she forced out reply, refusing to be beaten by so little yet so much.
”Caitlyn.”
The mention of her name clearly brought a smile on Vi’s lips which made her blush reappear.
”Here.”
Vi pulls out a phone from god knows where as she offers it to her.
Caught staring once again her thoughts get interrupted by that beautiful voice.
”Put you number in and I’ll text you the details.”
The phone is practically thrown in her direction but she manages to catch it without fumbling too hard. Score.
As she types in her number, an intrusive thought pops in her head. She wanted to take a photo for her contact. But not just any photo. One that leaves an… impression so to speak.
In a moment of weakness and some good luck, Vi looks around for a second while waiting for her to finish. She has to act quick. With a slight pull of her bra and a bite of her lip she snaps a picture before quickly reverting back to normal as if she didn’t just take a thirst trap out in the open.
”Here. I’ll look forward to seeing you again.”
”See you, cupcake.”
And with a wink, she’s gone. As fast as she had entered Caitlyn’s life, she has turned it upside down and left it just as fast.
