Chapter Text
He woke up, but not to the familiar white of his bedroom ceiling. Instead, it was looking up at metal, the interior of a ship, but he wouldn't learn that until later.
His heart thumped incessantly against his temple, lightheadedness hit him instantly as he sat up (and it had taken immense effort for him to do so).
The disorientation alone made it difficult to stay upright and the strange devices connected to him didn't make it any easier.
It was like being in a hospital, all the wires and strange things attached to your body that hook you up to the machines.
Except this wasn't a machine, what he was sat in didn't look like anything on Earth.
It was a pod of some sort, one which he had no idea how he'd come to even be sleeping in.
That didn't matter now, what did, was getting the hell out of here.
He pulled the wires off one by one more aggressively each time as he regained more of his strength.
He had a feeling he shouldn't be wasting any time; there was a terrible sense of dread in the pit of his stomach, as if something terrible was coming.
With the coordination of a newborn, he hauled himself out of the pod.
His feet touched down and he wobbled; he gripped the edge of the pod and managed to catch himself before gravity took him.
Using the edge to keep himself upright, he waited until the numbness in his legs started to subside.
How long had he been sleeping to end up in this state?
When he finally felt stable enough, he pushed away from the pod and stumbled over to one of the metal walls.
The wall looked the same the whole way around the room, except, there was a panel embedded into the metal on the far side.
Using the wall as support, he shuffled closer to the panel.
The symbols on it looked alien, he brought his hand up to it and touched one of the symbols.
