Note: This kinda combines a variety of Wonder Woman comic runs/other media, but there are definitely some it strays from.

K-9 Agent (Steve Trevor) – Rewrite

Chapter One

Diana had always given herself to wanting to protect those who could not stand up for themselves. She wanted to help every human and animal that was being oppressed. She wanted to stop Ares from the numerous wars which he had started and which man had started in his name.

In fact, it wasn’t until one conversation with Lois that she allowed herself to think differently, to feel differently.

She had been dating Steve for a while now, over three years since her coming to the United States and she still thought of him as her survivor and he thought of her as his angel. That had been how they had worked. And he had sometimes gone away on military leave while she fought against more complicated threats towards humanity.

He had stopped that about a year ago now when she had told him that she was pregnant. She had been scared to at first. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to have a child, she adored children and had always wanted to see more of them on Themyscira, but she knew that her life was complicated and she understood the risks of bringing a baby into this world.

She had given birth to a son, a complete shock to herself because everyone she had grown up around had been women, only women could live on Paradise Island and yet, her little boy, Leon Apollo Trevor, had become such a magnificent source of light in her life.

While carrying him, she had worried about protecting him, but with Lois as someone who let her call her, Lois was patient and gave Diana confidence and three months ago, their son was married and six months before that she had finally wed Steve, which was something she had honestly wanted to do for a long, long time.

As she came back to the small house they owned, she first noticed an aura of destruction behind those walls. Something had gone wrong here. Something had happened and she didn’t know of what. “Steve?” she called out as he was supposed to have been watching Leon and Steve would never have abandoned their child. Maybe he ran out with him. Protected him. Just as he would for her, Steve would give his life for their son.

As Diana saw the chaos within the home she called again hoping that there would be some type of answer, any type of answer. “Steve!!” she called before hearing her son wailing from the nursery. She ran in there, positioning herself to take down a threat but there was just Leon lying down in the middle of the floor, blankets around him and the crib pushed to the side. Diana bent down to scoop him up in her arms.

“Where’s your father, little one?” she asked with a kiss to the top of his soft head. She pulled him close and rocked him before seeing the signs of a fight. There was blood, so much blood. It was then that Diana saw it marked on her wall but like a calling card instead of something she could use as a portal.

The sign of Circe.

“Steve!!” Diana called again before hearing an animal whimpering near to where she had just scooped her son up. She looked around and saw a German Shepherd she had never seen before staring right at her. Its body had numerous wounds as if it had been in a fight but it seemed kind and obedient and non threatening. It attempted to walk towards her but was limping, giving a little painful whine as it struggled to use its front left paw.

“Hey,” Diana said as she sat on her knees before the German Shepherd, Leon lying on her lap. “Easy, okay?” she told him gently before placing a hand on the side of his face and letting her thumb rub behind his ears. She saw the look in his eyes and she knew. “Hey, Stephen,” she whispered, “I’ve got you. I’ve got you.”

The German Shepherd gave a small whine and Diana looked at him concerned. “Can you…understand me?” she asks, “It’s okay if you don’t. It’s okay.”

He nodded and then looked to the mark and Diana kept her hand on him.

“Beastiamophosis,” Diana whispered under her breath.

She saw Steve painfully limp over to her and nudge Leon with his nose, Leon was calmed by this and Steve looked up at Diana with his ears flattened. He put a paw on her knee and she looked to him, petting his head.

“You’re okay. He’s okay, see?” Diana said as she turned Leon so that Steve could look at him, “You protected him, Steve. You did really well,” she told him as his tail batted and Diana didn’t know if it was instinct or he knew it was happening. She pulled him closer. “I still love my boys and what’s most important is my boys, both of them are alive.”

Diana looked up at the symbol. She was going to find Circe and fix this. She just had to work out what her next move was going to be.

I want to start updating fics (for therapeutic reasons) more often, but some of the fics I didn’t touch for a long time and so they felt a bit “stale” to me, writing these rewrites really helps my motivation and I’m grateful that you chose to check it out.
