Chapter Text
Hirano doesn’t even get the chance to finish putting his key in the door when it’s unceremoniously wrenched open with so much force, the hinges make an awful squealing sound. The next thing he knows, he’s being hauled inside and past the threshold by both of his wrists.
Before he can complain about Akira’s aggressive treatment or yell at him for coming home early without any warning, Akira kicks the door closed, grabs him bodily by waist, and carries him to the island dividing their kitchen and living room. Hirano instinctively locks his ankles around his thighs with a swear, dropping his phone, keys, and wallet on the floor to latch onto his shoulders for safety. Akira sets him down on the island very gently (and thankfully a lot more considerate than how he handled the door) before he’s cradling his cheeks in both of his big hands and kissing him square on the mouth.
Head spinning, Hirano briefly contemplates scolding him for displaying such barbaric behavior, but then Akira is sucking gently on his bottom lip and he thinks fuck it, burying his hands into Akira’s hair to kiss him enthusiastically back.
“I missed you,” Akira mumbles between kisses, rubbing circles into Hirano’s jaw with his thumb. Hirano smiles against his mouth, then tugs sharply at the hair on the nape of his neck when Akira starts mouthing down his jaw.
“I can tell,” he mutters, tilting his head back to give Akira easier access to where he wants. “You—ow, Jesus, not so hard,” he grunts, when Akira sets his teeth to the tender ball of his throat. “This is like, the third time in the last minute you’ve almost killed me.”
“Taiga-sannnn,” Akira whines, smearing soft, apologetic kisses all over where he just bit down. “I’m sorry, I just missed you so much, I got excited.”
God, Hirano missed that petulant voice so much. He grins and tugs Akira back into another happy kiss, laughing against his mouth when their teeth clink together from smiling too much.
They pull back just enough to grin at each other like idiots; Akira cradles his cheek in one big hand and stares at him with moony cow eyes, looking at him like he’s seeing the sun for the first time after a long and freezing winter.
Hirano flushes and shoves his palm into Akira’s face, blushing all the way up to his ears in embarrassment from the scrutiny. Akira just kisses the center of his hand, and then all of his fingers individually. Hirano yanks his hand away and huffs, lightly swinging his foot forward to kick him in the thigh.
“You’re so corny,” Hirano says. “Ugh.”
Akira just shrugs and crowds back into his space, this time resting his hands on his waist. Then, he nuzzles their noses together like an overgrown bunny rabbit, surprisingly ticklish.
He squirms away, laughing helplessly when Akira brushes fluttery kisses all over his face: the bridge of his nose, both cheeks, the lids of his eyes, his chin; Hirano’s heart feels so full he’s sick with it.
“You’re too much,” Hirano complains, embarrassed from all the attention. “You didn’t go to war, it’s only been like, a week.”
“Way too long,” Akira says, with feeling. He beams when Hirano snorts in reply, his eyes scanning intently all over his face. Somehow, his expression grows even more tender; he gathers him close to give him a slow, thorough kiss, squeezing possessively at his hips.
They only stop making out at the sound of a long and very pitiful meow. Akira looks down and beams, his eyes lighting up as he abandons Hirano on the island to scoop up their ornery, needy shelter cat to shower her with his attention. The staff at the clinic they got her from lovingly named her Tuna, and Akira liked it enough not to change it.
“My baby,” Akira coos, peppering kisses all over Tuna’s furry gray head. She purrs and nuzzles aggressively against his cheek, her body vibrating all over from the force of it. Hirano rolls his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest to watch them. Tuna has always preferred Akira to him, from the day they met. If Akira’s home, she acts like Hirano doesn’t exist.
“You guys are gross,” Hirano says, wincing when she swipes her sandpaper-rough tongue lovingly across Akira’s cheek.
“Are you jealous? I can call you baby, too, if you want,” Akira offers teasingly, staring at him with soft eyes while Tuna rubs her cheek against his in between sporadic bursts of grooming.
“That’s okay,” Hirano says, amused. “I think Tuna would have it out for me.”
If the shoe were on the other foot and Hirano had been the one to stop kissing Akira to dote on their cat, Akira would absolutely be sulking about it and making it everybody’s problem. He considers pointing that out, but then Akira’s shuffling over to him, cat cradled to his chest, and he forgets what he was thinking about altogether to watch him curiously.
Akira just leans over Tuna’s head to give him another peck, drawn to him like a moth to a flame. “I really missed you; it feels like forever since we’ve both been home.”
Hirano bites his lip, reaching out to pat him on the head. “I missed you, too, you dork.”
Tuna squirms in Akira’s arms and digs her claws into his shoulders for more attention, nosing against his jaw with a demanding little mew.
“Okay, sweetheart,” Akira croons, saccharine sweet and eerily reminiscent of how Sasaki speaks to Miyano. “My needy girl, my sweet baby kitty, were you good for daddy? Huh? Were you nice to him?”
The baby talk makes Hirano groan. “You know she isn’t a human baby, right?”
“We already talked about this on the phone, remember? I carried her in my womb.”
“Right, your infamous womb,” Hirano laughs. “How could I forget that?”
After 5 minutes of watching Akira dutifully love on their cat, Hirano got bored and admittedly a little sick of hearing Akira’s obnoxious baby noises and went to read a book on the couch. He yelps in surprise when Akira appears without a sound, smacking the book out of his hands to sit on his lap and kiss him again. When Akira pulls back to laugh at him, Hirano is flushed all over, breathless from having a 6-foot and-some-change athlete sitting on his thighs.
“Hiii,” Akira greets him, giggling when Hirano looks between him and his fallen book, unimpressed. Akira gives him one, two more pecks on the mouth before planting a sloppy-wet smooch to his cheek, likely just to see Hirano make an annoyed face. Sure enough, when Hirano scrunches his nose up Akira smirks, looking entirely too pleased with himself. He says again, “I missed you so much!!”
“Goofball,” Hirano mutters, tweaking him affectionately on the nose and not at all charmed by the resulting pout it earns him. “So you’ve said. And I’m not Tuna, you know that, right?”
Akira squeezes him into a hug, nestling his nose into the curve of his shoulder. He presses his lips there, too. “I know, I just love you so so so so so so so so so much, I don’t know what to do about it.”
Hirano ruffles his hair, lips twitching up and into a wide grin when Akira makes a pleased sound and hugs him tighter, happily soaking up all of Hirano’s attention he can get.
When Akira sits back up and their eyes meet, Hirano’s stomach bottoms out at the look on his face. He bats his infuriatingly pretty green eyes at Hirano like he’s some kind of princess, the kind of look that always and without fail makes Hirano want to give him whatever he wants. He folds, ridiculously charmed, and pinches Akira’s chin with his thumb and index finger to coax him forward, bringing their mouths back together again for the umpteenth time that night. “So spoiled,” he mutters against his lips, ignoring the tingling numbness zipping up and down his thighs from Akira’s shifting weight.
Akira makes a happy, surprised sound and smooths his palms up and down Hirano’s back, reciprocating the kiss with the eagerness of a puppy being gifted a bone. They kiss for so long Hirano’s mouth feels raw and sensitive, and his thighs feel uncomfortable enough to where he’s finally motivated enough to wrestle Akira off of him, shoving him by the shoulders to the cushion next to him.
“If I can’t find my spot in my book, you’re sleeping here tonight,” Hirano informs him as he bends down to pick it up, snickering when Akira starts predictably whining.
“What’s more important, your book or my comfort?”
“Hmm,” Hirano pretends to think about it, flipping through the pages without actually looking at the words. “I wonder.”
“Taiga-san!!”
Hirano levels him with a flat look, resting his cheek on his knuckles. “You’re so loud. Maybe my next flight out should be in Europe...”
“Taiga-sannnn, that’s way too mean!” He leans back into the couch, pushing the button on the side to make it recline so he can stretch his legs out. He grumbles, “Tuna wouldn’t treat me like this.”
Hirano smothers a laugh into his hand. “Well, she is a cat, so probably not.” Akira crosses his arms over his chest, staring sullenly at his lap.
Hirano watches him with a fond look on his face, reaching out to kick at his ankle after a good 20 seconds of silence.
“What,” Akira mutters, refusing to dignify him with even a glance.
Hirano kicks at him again and Akira scowls, intercepting it and holding his foot firmly in his lap.
“Aki-kun.”
When Akira ignores him, he grins.
“Akira, are you seriously giving me the cold shoulder right now?”
“I thought you were going to Europe,” Akira grumbles. “Since I’m too loud.”
“You’re seriously too cute,” Hirano laughs. He abandons his book and crawls over the arm of the couch that separates them and presses a loud, smacking kiss to his cheek, chuckling when the tips of Akira’s ears turn pink.
He feels particularly needy and attention-starved himself, after 6 nights of sleeping alone. As much as all their friends needle Akira for being so clingy, Hirano isn’t much better himself.
“You have me to yourself for four whole days, so stop pouting, okay?”
Akira miraculously pouts even harder, mulishly sinking himself deeper into the couch cushion and refusing to look at his face. Hirano is very well-versed in this particular song-and-dance: Hirano will tease Akira about something, Akira will act dramatic and sulk about it to see how much Hirano is willing to do to earn his forgiveness, and then they usually end up making out about it. Hirano knows Akira’s not really mad, and that he doesn’t actually have to pamper him this much to get him to talk to him, but it is a silly little routine Hirano has grown rather fond of.
This time, Hirano settles down in Akira’s lap and only almost laughs when Akira habitually rests his hands on his waist. He pinches Akira’s cheek and squeezes it, giving it a firm shake until Akira starts squirming.
“Noooooo,” he moans. “Taiga-sannn, that hurts.”
“Aki-kun,” Hirano says seriously, letting go of his cheek to grin stupidly in his face when Akira finally looks at him, green eyes narrowed in suspicion. He really is too fucking cute. Hirano wants to carry him around in his pocket to look at on a rainy day. “Hey, did you know?”
Akira lilts his head to one side, eyebrows drawing low in confusion. “Huh?”
“I love you,” Hirano tells him, matter of fact. He watches Akira turn an unflattering shade of red, splotchy and trailing all the way down his neck and disappearing into his shirt. Akira says he loves him way more often; He’s the sort of guy that can dish out affection but can’t take what’s given back to him. Helplessly endeared and emboldened by his reaction, Hirano continues. “You’re my favorite person in the whole world, even when you’re really loud and make me lose my spot in my books and almost break down the door.”
Akira groans and squeezes him against his chest, his grumpy façade effectively shattered. “That’s cheating!”
“You’re such a baby, honestly, Akira.” Hirano strokes his hair away from his forehead to get his bangs out of his eyes, melting just a little when their eyes meet, the tips of his fingers lingering on his cheek.
He’s not quite sure who kisses who this time, but it’s a lot more comfortable compared to their other ones from today. He rests his palm over Akira’s chest, smiling at how fast his heart beats through his shirt. Hirano’s other hand is cupped around his warm cheek, thumb stroking patterns into the curve of his jaw. He sneaks his eyes open to look at Akira’s face, stomach doing cartwheels at the long length of his eyelashes kissing his cheeks, so beautiful it makes his chest ache.
Akira’s hand slides tantalizingly up and down the length of his spine, his other hand gripping his waist to keep him close. He lets out an undignified sound when Hirano flicks his tongue out over the seam of his lips, shivering all over when he licks inside his mouth for a quick taste.
When Hirano pulls away Akira chases after his mouth, looking ready to start pouting again when Hirano stops him with a hand on his chin. Amused, he pushes up Akira’s frown with his fingers, smushing his lips together to form a wobbly impression of a smile. He cracks up all over again when Akira hikes his hands up the front of his shirt in retaliation to wiggle his fingers over his belly, eyes sparkling with joy when Hirano fails to squirm away from him, his hand anchoring him down by one hip.
“Fuck, you’re such a brat,” Hirano hisses, knotting his fingers in the front of Akira’s shirt so he doesn’t accidentally punch him. “Fuck, you know tickling makes me violent—” He groans, agonized, when Akira just laughs and goes for his ribs, holding him down easily so Hirano can’t hurt him or get away while he tickles him with renewed vigor.
“I hate you so much,” Hirano chokes out, glaring at him when Akira finally stops torturing him. “You’re lucky I didn’t take your eye out.”
“I’m stronger than you,” Akira says easily, giving his hip another squeeze. Hirano determinedly pushes down any horny feelings he has about that for the sake of his pride. “I’m not scared of you.”
“I am much more likely to finish a fight,” Hirano argues. “You have the mental fortitude of a deer. I could totally kick your ass.”
“But you wouldn’t,” Akira says smugly. He rubs his thumb over his cheek, eyes warm and mushy and so disgustingly fond, Hirano wants to kiss him again almost as much as he wants to keep arguing.
“Says who?”
“We have a baby,” Akira says, like that makes any sense. “You can’t fight me after putting a baby in me.”
Hirano groans and squeezes Akira’s nose. “Don’t say things like that.”
“But it’s true!” His voice sounds silly and full of nasal from his nose being pinched shut. Hirano breaks into laughter again and lets go so he can give him a firm pat on the cheek instead.
“I’m beginning to think this is like, a kink thing, from how often you talk about it.”
Akira’s jaw falls open and his face turns a vibrant shade of purple. Hirano squints at him, delight twisting viciously in his belly when Akira can’t even look at him.
“Oh my god, it is!” He digs an accusing finger into Akira’s chest, laughing uproariously when he slaps it away, scowling. “You so want me to get you pregnant!”
“I—I do not!” He looks entirely too guilty to be believable, the absolute worst liar Hirano has ever met. “It’s just a joke about our cat!”
“Look me in the eyes and say, ‘Taiga-san, I don’t want you to get me pregnant.’”
“No way!!”
“Because you do,” Hirano says delightedly. “You can’t even lie about it!”
“Maybe you just want me to want you to get me pregnant.”
“Hmm,” Hirano sits back on Akira’s thighs and reaches out to palm his stomach. “If you were pregnant, I think you’d be high maintenance.”
“Taiga-san,” Akira groans, covering his red face with his hands. “You’re thinking about this too much.”
“I’m thinking about this too much? This is your third time now bringing it up. Once is a mistake, twice is a coincidence, and third is a pattern.” He smirks at him. “You totally want me to impregnate you.”
“Stop saying it,” Akira whines. “You’re so mean to me.”
Hirano cuddles back up to him, reaching around him to grab the throw blanket off the back of the couch behind Akira’s head. “Alright, but this isn’t over.” He yawns into Akira’s neck, folding the blanket over them both. “You’re lucky I’m too tired to want to keep talking about this.”
“Somewhere, Miyano’s head is exploding,” Akira says solemnly.
Hirano groans. “I know you guys hang out a lot, but I will pulverize you if this conversation makes it to him.”
Akira shudders, hooking his chin over Hirano’s head to bundle him up even closer. “Absolutely not.”
Akira kisses his hair, and Hirano slips his eyes closed to revel in the fact that they’re finally together again.
