(Ada tries to sit up, having great difficulty.)
Ada: You don't understand, we need to move! Amanda's in grave danger, all because-
Entity: Ada...
Ada: What? We don't have time to-
Entity (firmly): Ada. Listen to me. (He sighs.) We've been in a coma for a month now.
(Ada's breath catches, and she sinks back down into her pillow.)
Ada: No.... I was just...
Entity: Ada, please. I've been awake this whole time. I.... I'm sorry.
(Ada takes a few seconds to breathe.)
Ada: Really?
Entity: Yes, I've sat through every second. Couldn't exactly move, either, without being suspicious.
Ada: O-Oh, I'm really sorry, that must've been terrible.
Entity: It was, but I managed. It also helped... put some things into perspective for me. Relating to us.
Ada: Yes...?
(The Entity sighs.)
Entity: Ada, I know we're not exactly... friends, but I really want you to realize how lucky I am to have met you. I can't imagine what it would've been like had you not opened my book, just... a fragment of a soul adrift in another world. While I still hope our situation isn't... permanent, I'm glad for the time we've had together. It's been eye-opening.
Ada (touched): You really....
Entity: Please, I know. I just needed to get that out.
Ada: Alright, alright. Then I suppose I better get up to speed. Where is everyone?
Entity: It's about 2 or 3 in the morning, so there's no one around right now. We're in a plain but nice hospital room.
(Ada grunts as she tries to push herself up on her hands.)
Ada: Okay, and what's been happening to us?
Entity (confused): Umm.... The staff have been treating your wounds and such? What else would have happened?
Ada: No, I mean.... Have any police officers come in? Connected us to Kellin, or god forbid Parker?
Entity: Oh no, no, nothing like that, they have no idea who you are. You've been Jane Doe since they brought you in.
Ada (relieved): Good, we don't need anything else to worry about.
Entity: It's just...
Ada: Hm?
(The Entity sighs. It's a few seconds before he speaks again.)
Entity: There's this uh, one nurse who comes in to check on you. She seemed very nice from what I could tell, and she'd always come in and say "good morning, Jane" and I... I kinda liked hearing it.
Ada (intrigued): Oh? You appreciated her taking the time to greet us, well, me every day? That's actually kinda sweet.
Entity: N-No, well, yes, but I more so meant... the name. Jane.
(Realization dawns on Ada.)
Ada: Ohh.... Do you want me to call you Jane? It could be your name.
Entity: What? No, don't be ridiculous, Jane is a woman's name. Even I know that.
Ada (amused): Why does that matter?
Entity: Wh... Because I'm not a woman?
Ada: So what? Jane is also a human name, and you're not that either. Besides, I think it's a lovely name. Better than awkwardly calling you "friend" every time, at least.
Entity: Well.... Then I suppose if you don't mind....
Ada: I don't. It's nice to finally properly get to know you, Jane.
Jane: .....You too, Ada.
