Chapter 1: Prologue

?????????
It was another late night at the Sweet N’ Spiced Restaurant, and Ginger couldn’t wait to go home. These past few days have been so crazy, making me stay at the restaurant for far longer than I should, she thought, wishing that she was making her way back to her apartment. But, I have to do a couple of things here first before I can leave, she thought with a sigh. Even though everyone else who worked at the restaurant had left, she was the only one left, having to clean up everything that was missed before everyone else went home.
“It’s high time that Chef Chris or Chef Marsha gave me a raise or extra pay for all of these nights I have to work late,” she grumbled to herself. Don’t get her wrong, she loved working here, she just wished that she didn’t have to stay so long and lock up the place. The dessert co-chef took a glance at the clock and sighed when she saw that half an hour had already passed then when she was supposed to leave. She let out another sigh before moving on to another part of the restaurant that she had to take care of.
“And I’m not even a waitress here! I’m just the dessert co-chef!” she stated, a little louder than her previous complaint. Since she was so engrossed in being angry at all of these things, she didn’t notice the door to the restaurant open and close, even though there’s a little bell that chimes when done so.
Eventually, at some point while she was cleaning, she complained in her normal volume, “I wish I could just leave this place already!”
What she didn’t expect though was a familiar voice behind her say, “You might get that chance sooner than you think Ginger.” She whipped around, a bit startled but instantly relaxed as she recognized one of the other people who works here at the Sweet N’ Spiced Restaurant.
“Oh, you startled me,” Ginger said, completely brushing off the unusual tone in her co-workers voice. “Did you forget something again?”
Her co-worker was silent for a couple of seconds before they said, “Yeah, something like that.” And then the unexpected happened and the person she thought was a friend pulled out a knife from their jacket and stepped closer to her.
“What-what’s gotten into you? Wh-Why do you have Russell’s special knife?” the dessert co-chef asked, her voice stammering from her fear.
“I was the one who was supposed to be a co-chef,” Ginger’s co-worker explained, walking closer with the special custom knife gleaming in the light. “But you and Russell were promoted to co-chefs instead of me, so using Russell’s knife to kill you is my perfect revenge plan.”
“W-Wait! I-I’m sure we can talk this out! I’m your friend after all!” she exclaimed.
Her co-worker let out a short, amused laugh before they said, “You really believed all this time that I was your friend? I was only gaining your trust so they have no reason to suspect me for the day when I finally enact my revenge plan. You poor, poor naive co-chef. Now, I believe it’s time you leave.” Then, before Ginger could react or say anything else, the person she thought to be her friend burst forward and stabbed her deep in the chest, and the world almost immediately went black.
Chapter 2: Chapter One: Investigation Day 1 - Part 1
Summary:
Things seems to go smoothly at first and the Ace Attorney lads meet three more of Lynne's friends but then, they find out a murder happened.
Notes:
And also, the names Bitter Sugar Café and Sweet N' Spiced Restaurant are completely made up by me so sorry if they kinda suck. I'm not good at thinking of names like those.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Bitter Sugar Café
Outdoor Patio
“Sooo,” Athena began, tapping her earring, “from what I understand, you, Sissel, and some of your guys' friends got mysteriously transported here and during that, you guys got separated from each other?”
Lynne nodded and said, “Yep. That’s about the gist of it.” That’s really weird, Phoenix thought. How can multiple people just get transported here without remembering anything about right before they got transported?
“Well if anyone can help you solve this mystery, it’s Nick! He’s a master at solving almost unsolvable mysteries! In fact, he’s solved multiple past incidents like DL-6, UR-1, and I think one more but I forgot the name,” Maya explained.
“It was the SL-9 Incident, Maya,” Phoenix stated, taking a sip of his coffee.
“Yeah, if you need something solved, Mr. Wright could do it,” Apollo said.
Lynne then seemed to think for a moment before she said, “I’ve told you guys a lot about me and Sissel but you guys have hardly said anything about yourselves.”
“Huh, yeah, I guess that’s true,” Trucy replied after having thought for a couple of seconds. She then turned to Phoenix and said, “Daddy, how about you start!”
He was a bit caught off guard by this but then let out a sigh before saying, “Alright, I will. So, as you obviously know, I’m a defense attorney and I first became one in 2016. Then in 2019, I got disbarred for presenting forged evidence but then when it was proven that I had been framed, I was able to get my badge back and so I did a couple of cases and here I am now. Oh, and shortly after I was disbarred, I adopted Trucy because her biological father had abandoned her.”
“I’ll go next!” Maya exclaimed. “I’m a spirit medium from Kurain Village in the mountains and I’m actually the Master of Kurain Village which basically means I’m the lead of the village! I’m Nick’s assistant and I’ve helped and continue to help him on his cases!” Apollo, Athena, and Trucy then talked about themselves a bit as well.
Once they were done, Lynne said, “Woah, that’s a lot. But, it’s great to get to know you all! And also thank you for trying to help me and Sissel find our friends!”
“It’s no problem Lynne! After all, all of us enjoy helping people!” Trucy said.
“Well, I’m still thanking you,” the detective responded. She then thought for a moment or two before saying, “Hey, maybe we could meet up again tomorrow and begin our search. And so, speaking of which, Mr. Wright, is it alright with you if me and Sissel stay with you guys again?”
“Yeah, that’s perfectly fine,” Phoenix responded. All of them then got up and went their separate ways with Lynne and Sissel, who seems to enjoy clinging onto Lynne’s shoulder, going with Phoenix, Maya, and Trucy.
March 27, 9:13 AM
Wright Anything Agency
“So, I’m guessing Athena and Apollo are going to be arriving soon?” Lynne asked to which the blue-clad defense attorney nodded.
“But while we wait for them,” Phoenix began, “Didn’t you say that one of your friends enjoys chicken just as much as you do?” After the young detective nodded, Phoenix said, “Well, I know that there’s a restaurant that has some pretty good chicken so maybe we can check there once Apollo and Athena come.” She nodded and they thankfully didn’t have to wait for long as soon after that, Athena and Apollo made their arrival.
After the two younger defense attorneys said their greetings, the older defense attorney said, “Alright, now that we’re all here, we are going to be going to the Sweet N’ Spiced Restaurant in hopes that we’ll find one of Lynne’s friends there.”
“Ooooo, that’s a really good restaurant! The food in general there is amazing!” Athena replied, her hands clasped together with a smile on her face.
Apollo let out a small laugh before saying, “I have to agree. The food there is delicious. Especially the chicken and swiss rolls.”
“Well, then,” Trucy said, “what are we waiting for! Let’s go to the restaurant!” Everyone else agreed as they made their way to the door of the Wright Anything Agency so they could leave.
March 27, 9:36 AM
Los Angeles ~ Streets
The Sweet N’ Spiced Restaurant was a bit far from the Wright Anything Agency but it was still close enough that they could walk there. As they walked through the streets of the city, all six of them were caught up in a conversation so much so, that when they were a little under three fourths away from the restaurant, they didn’t notice voices. But what did get their attention was the barking of a small dog. What is a dog doing, likely alone in the city? Phoenix thought.
They all stopped walking and talking so they could listen and after a minute or two Lynne whispered, but loud enough for them to hear her, “I think… I might recognize that bark.” Sissel, who had hopped down to stand by her feet, seemed to nod. Then, almost immediately right after the barking stopped and the blue-clad defense attorney knew all of them were probably hoping the dog was alright. Lynne crouched down as if she was going to creep up on where the sound was coming from but before any of them could do anything else, a blur of light brown and white whizzed past them and tackled Lynne.
“Lynne! Are you… alright…?” Maya asked but trailed off as they all realized that the “attacker” was just a very energetic Pomeranian who was enthusiastically licking Lynne’s face and the detective in question was laughing.
Once she managed to be able to speak she said, “Yes, I missed you too Missile! I’m really glad you're safe though.” Missile just let out a happy bark with his fluffy tail wagging so hard it seemed to be just a blur of fluff.
“Is he your dog?” Trucy asked and when Lynne nodded, she said, “He’s so cute! Can I pet him?”
“Of course you guys can pet him! He’s the friendliest dog you’ll ever know!” the young detective responded and the Pomeranian barked, almost as if he was agreeing with her. Trucy, Athena, and Maya then immediately began to pet Missile, who tried to shower all three of them with licks, making them laugh. That dog kinda looks familiar. But it could just be my imagination, Phoenix thought.
Apollo then seemed to notice something as he said with a slightly worried expression, “Uh, guys? Where did Sissel go?” Everyone immediately stopped, even Missile, and looked around.
“Yeah, where did your kitty go?” Trucy asked.
Lynne looked a bit surprised by this but then said, “I know you just assumed that Sissel was my cat but he actually isn’t. He’s just one of my friends. The only pet I have is Missile.” She then looked at Missile and asked, “Do you have an idea as to where Sissel went?” The small light brown and white dog then let out a bark as he began walking off and Lynne followed him, which made all of the rest follow them as well. That’s really strange. It’s almost as if Lynne knows what Missile’s saying. But I suppose everything about her is a little strange so I shouldn’t think too hard on it, Phoenix thought as the five of them followed the other two.
Eventually, they arrived at the edge of another park that Phoenix couldn’t quite recall the name of and there by the edge were two people. One of them was a young girl who had short light pink hair and a yellow bow on the back of her head. The other one was a man with tall blonde hair and a red and black outfit with sunglasses on his face. And also there, curled up around the man’s feet was Sissel. I assume this guy might be Sissel’s owner, the defense attorney thought.
Almost immediately as Lynne spotted them she exclaimed, “Oh, hi Kamila! Hi Yomiel! It’s good to see that I’ve finally been able to find you two! And Missile!” When Lynne had greeted them, the two of them looked towards them and the girl’s, who Phoenix assumes is Kamila, expression brightens at seeing Lynne.
“Lynne! You’re okay! I knew that when Missy ran off, you must’ve been around here somewhere!” she then paused as she looked at everyone else and asked, “Who’re they?” The young detective turned her head around to look at them before looking back.
“These are some kind people I met who are willing to help us find everyone else who got separated from us,” Lynne explained before moving on to introduce them, waving to each person respectfully, “They are Phoenix Wright, Maya Fey, Apollo Justice, Athena Cykes, and Trucy Wright. All of you, these are Kamila, who’s like a sister to me at this point, and Yomiel, who’s Sissel’s owner.” Kamila waved in greeting with a cheerful smile on her face while Yomiel just nodded, his expression staying the same. Honestly, if you asked Phoenix, Yomiel just seemed a little… sad and this theory seemed to be proven a little when Sissel looked up worriedly at him. I wonder what happened to this guy. But psychology and therapy is not my thing. That’s Athena’s job, Phoenix thought.
They all stood there in silence for a bit before Kamila asked, “So, what are you guys doing now?”
“Well, we were going to go to a restaurant called the Sweet N’ Spiced Restaurant to see if one of your guys’ friends is there,” Apollo answered.
“Oh, could we come with you guys?” Kamila asked hopefully and Phoenix said they could so they continued making their way down the road. Missile was happily padding along, switching between walking next to Lynne and next to Kamila. Sissel had perched himself on Yomiel’s shoulder and the blue-clad defense attorney noticed that when Sissel was close to him, he seemed to be a lot happier. Hopefully we’ll be able to find another person these guys know at the restaurant, Phoenix thought.

Sweet N’ Spiced Restaurant ~ Outside
The first thing everyone noticed was that police cars and police officers were walking around and going in and out of the restaurant. All of them were stunned to silence at the sight before them but eventually, Phoenix walked up to one of the officers and asked, “What happened here?”
“A murder happened sir. Sometime last night. We’re waiting to hear about when it happened,” the officer replied.
“I see… Is it alright if me and some of my friends,” he gestures to behind him, “investigate?” The officer studied them for a bit before shrugging and saying that they could.
But before they went inside, the defense attorney turned back to them and asked, “Kamila, I think it would be best if you didn’t join in on this investigation. Trucy, could you take her back to the Agency or something?”
“Sure! But are you alright with it Kamila?” Trucy asked and when the other girl nodded, the magician said, “Then come with me! I can show you some of my magic tricks!” Kamila seemed excited at the thought of magic tricks and followed Trucy who was then quickly followed by Missile, probably so the small dog could protect them.
But just before he was about to say anything else, Yomiel said, which was the first thing he had said since Phoenix, Athena, Apollo, and Maya had met him, “I think I might go with them. I’m… not good with crime scenes.” And then he left as well with Sissel still accompanying him.
“I’m kinda curious about that guy,” Athena stated. “After all, he seems kinda sad and just now before he left I’m pretty sure I detected some kind of… guilt?” This caused Lynne to wince slightly as if she knew exactly what Yomiel would’ve felt guilty about.
“Anyways, let’s go in and investigate and see if we can find out who the defendant is,” Phoenix said with a small sigh and then after, all five of them entered the restaurant, none of them quite knowing what exactly they might find.
Notes:
Can you guess who the detective and prosecutor are going to be?
Also, yes, I did make a slight reference to the Ace Attorney Anime with Phoenix feeling like he might've met Missile before.
Chapter 3: Chapter Two: Investigation Day 1 - Part 2

Sweet N’ Spiced Restaurant ~ Inside
The inside was surprisingly put together and you wouldn’t even suspect it was the scene of a crime if there wasn’t a bunch of police officers around. I wonder who the detective is. It’s probably either Detective Gumshoe or Ema, Phoenix thought, looking around to see if he could spot who could possibly be the detective.
“So, where do we start, Boss?” Athena asked, tapping her earring. Apollo, Maya, and Lynne looked at him expectantly as well.
“Well, I was thinking that we could possibly start with finding and talking to the detective so we can learn more about the case and get their permission to investigate as well,” the older defense attorney answered. Just then, a forensic officer ran past them but Phoenix managed to stop him before he could completely run off.
When the officer came back to them, Maya asked, “Do you know where the detective for this case is? And if so, could we talk to them?”
“Huh? Oh yeah, you can talk to her,” the officer stated. “Follow me, and I can take you to where she is. I have to deliver something to her anyways.” As they followed the forensic officer, Phoenix thought, So it’s a ‘she’? It could have a chance to be Ema then.
March 27, 10:23 AM
Sweet N’ Spiced Restaurant ~ Inside
Kitchen
The forensic officer brought them into the kitchen of the restaurant to which they stopped, indicating that they were at their destination in the restaurant. But I don’t see anyone else in here besides us, so where could the detective be? He thought, looking around at the empty kitchen.
Just then, the forensic officer shouted, “Detective Faraday! I got the things you wanted!” ‘Faraday’ huh? I don’t recognize the name but I’m fine with a detective we haven’t met before, as long as they’re cooperative, Phoenix thought.
There was a pause before a voice said, “Oh sweet! Be right there!” And the owner of the voice then proceeded to jump down from… somewhere, startling everyone except the officer who handed her the stuff he was holding to which she grabbed it before turning her back on them, not even noticing the five extra people as she looked over the report, muttering to herself.
“Alright, thank you, you can go now,” the detective said eventually, still having her back to them and the officer opened his mouth to say something, probably about them, before she spoke up, saying, “Don’t worry, I noticed them, and I’ll talk to them.” All of them were completely stunned by this as well because before this point, she hadn’t shown any hints that she had noticed them and that she knew he was going to speak before he said anything. The forensic officer closed his mouth and just saluted before walking away. The detective then turned around, her black hair and tan trench coat waving slightly as she did so including the… key in her hair?
“So, what do you lot need?” she asked with a slightly bored but also curious and cheerful expression.
“Well, first of all, let us introduce ourselves. My name is-” Phoenix began but was cut off by the detective.
“Oh, I know who you three defense attorneys are. After all, you three are probably the most famous defense attorneys in the city. I want to know the other two’s names if you are to introduce yourselves,” she stated.
“Oh, well, my name is Maya Fey,” Maya said and then gestured with her hand to Lynne while saying, “And this is Lynne. Could you please introduce yourself to us now?”
“Oh, yeah, of course!” the detective exclaimed, her more bored and annoyed expression quickly switching into a cheerful one. “I’m Detective Kay Faraday!”
“Well, nice to meet you Detective Faraday. Is it alright with you if we could ask you a few questions about the case?” the blue-clad defense attorney asked, a bit taken aback by how cheerful and energetic this woman is.
“Sure! I need something to do today besides investigate, so ask away!” Kay told them cheerfully.
Phoenix nodded before asking, “Well, starting off simple, could you possibly tell us about the victim?”
“Yeah, I can do that!” she replied before switching her facial expression to a more thoughtful expression as she crossed her arms and had her pointer finger on her cheek as she said, “The victim’s name was Ginger Brett. She was the dessert co-chef here and was killed due to a single and deep stab wound to her chest. The autopsy report states that the knife wasn’t long enough to have done anything fatal but it still killed her because it appeared to have been taken out, causing her to die of blood loss. Speaking of which,” the detective then brandished a manilla envelope before saying, “here’s a copy of the autopsy report.”
She then held up a hand next to her mouth and whispered, but loud enough for all of them to hear, “Don’t tell Mr. Edgeworth I gave you guys the autopsy report or any crucial information about the case or else I don’t think I’ll ever see the light of day again.”
“Wait, so is the prosecutor, Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth?” Apollo asks.
But, to their surprise, Kay shakes her head and says, “No, they’re not, even though I would’ve loved to work with him. Instead it’s the prosecutor I’m assigned to who also knows Mr. Edgeworth really well. But even though he is a lot less intimidating than Mr. Edgeworth is, he still won’t be happy if he learns that I gave you guys information and I’d prefer not having my salary cut, thank you very much.”
“Uh, alright. Have you guys arrested a suspect yet?” the blue-clad defense attorney asked.
“Yeah. His name is Russell Sprout and he’s the co-chef for the main courses. He was arrested because not only were recent prints of his found on the murder weapon, but the murder weapon actually belonged to him. We’re still trying to figure out a motive though,” the detective explained. Alright, now that we know for certain that they arrested a suspect, we also know their name so we can go talk to them once we’re done, he thought.
“I see,” Phoenix said with a small nod before thinking. Soon enough though, he decided to ask, “Is there anything else you could tell us about the crime scene Detective?”
Kay nodded before her expression changed to a thoughtful one as she said with crossed arms, her pointer finger on her cheek, and eyes closed, “Yeah, though it’s kinda strange. In the main dining room of the restaurant, the forensic guys were able to find some blood on the ground and then a lot more was found in the freezer along with the dead body so we don’t really know how long ago the victim died. But, I haven’t said this to anybody else yet, I suspect that the victim was killed in the main dining room because some things in this case are reminding me of a couple similarities from a case I worked on with Mr. Edgeworth back in 2019.”
“Wait, you worked with Mr. Edgeworth in 2019?” Athena said, surprised.
“Yeah! Those were some fun days. Let’s see, I rescued Mr. Edgeworth when he got kidnapped, caught the woman I’m never going to forgive, not going to expand on that one, solved a fake assassination on the fake Zheng Fa president, solved a murder in a prison, helped Mr. Edgeworth solve the last case his father did, got kidnapped, that part actually wasn’t fun, and then helped two other people who got kidnapped and helped solve another cold case incident! Though the one I’m being reminded of is the one where I helped Mr. Edgeworth solve the last case his father did,” she summarized cheerfully. Wow, that’s… a lot, Phoenix thought, shocked.
“Wait, how so is this case reminding you of that other case?” Lynne asked, looking off into the distance with a finger on her chin.
“Oh, just the fact that I’m pretty sure the victim was killed somewhere else and then their body was frozen by being in the freezer. Not everything is the same but one or two things are very similar,” the detective stated. She then let out a sigh as she said, “That’s why I haven’t told anybody else yet that I think the victim was actually killed in the dining room and that her time of death is different so honestly, I think the defendant is innocent. But… I think I might be able to convince the prosecutor tomorrow to let me add a statement in my testimony about how I think the victim was killed in the main dining room.”
The defense attorney gave a slight nod before asking, “Speaking of which, could you tell us a little more about the prosecutor?”
She just gave them a shrug as she said, “Sure, why not? The prosecutor is someone who has known Mr. Edgeworth and me since 2019 and was basically Mr. Edgeworth’s apprentice for a while. Though, like I said earlier, he’s a lot less intimidating than Mr. Edgeworth is, no matter what he thinks. But to be fair, I don’t get intimidated easily and if you don’t believe me, then I’m going to tell you that I’m not scared of and kinda best friends with Franziska von Karma and Prosecutor Blackquill doesn’t scare me either. I’ve only ever called one person scary and that was Manfred von Karma but I was like, ten.”
“But anyways, the last thing I can say about the prosecutor is that, if he makes a mistake with either mixing up a word or something else, correct him politely because he’s still a bit used to being corrected not nicely even though that was about ten years ago since the last time but I know from seeing Mr. Edgeworth that trauma doesn’t ever really go away so, be polite and kind when correcting him,” she finished.
“Alright, I’ll try to,” he responded and Kay gave a satisfied nod.
“Okay, I think that’s about all I can tell you for now. If you are to go and see the defendant, then do it first before coming back to investigate. I’ll most likely still be here in case you find anything,” Kay told them before walking off to another part of the restaurant.
“So,” Maya began, “I’m guessing we are going to be heading to the detention center to meet the defendant?”
The older defense attorney nodded before saying, “Yeah, we are. Come on, we’re going to be going right now. The more time, the better.” He then began walking towards the entrance door of the restaurant with Maya, Athena, Apollo, and Lynne following after him.
Notes:
I'm probably not going to be posting anymore chapters in the month of July because I'm in ArtFight so I'll be busy with that and not this story.
And where Kay jumped down from was either the fridge or a cupboard. After all, she investigated with Edgeworth so she would know to inspect every nook and cranny.
But can you still guess who the prosecutor's gonna be?
