Chapter Text
◻️◻️/◻️◻️/◻️◻️◻️◻️, 10:50 A.M., ToonTown Central, Wacky Way.
It's been a few months since Roxanne had first met William. Her scheming had been successful, having the Derrick Man send her a barrel of pure crude oil to her every month for 'inspections,' she had told him. She enjoyed the monthly treat that she *totally* fairly earned for herself and didn't trick him into giving her.
And now, she has another meeting with William, just to re-evaluate and update important paperwork and assets with him. She makes her way towards the Gagsoline Oil Refinery, bat strapped to her back and curly hair and tail flowing in the slight breeze. It's a perfectly warm day out today, she mentally notes to herself.
Slipping into the lobby of the building that William resides in, Roxy takes a seat in the same chair as previously, setting her arms on the armrests and crossing one leg over the other. She pulls out her work appointed cell phone, sending an e-mail to the cog she needed to see.
'Mr. Boar,
I am currently in the lobby of your still disgustingly oily building. I require you to come down to me so we can discuss the latest updates to your filed paperwork. If you do not come down immediately, this meeting will have to be rescheduled for one month from now.
Ms. Pina-Yatta'
It takes a few minutes, but finally Roxy can hear the slight grumble of his voice from above her and the heavy thud of footsteps. She hears the chatter of an unfamiliar girl's voice, challenging and playful, and his low brush-off for the other just before the elevator's mechanisms start to whir. She narrows her eyes, scowling as she looks at the ceiling, trying to pinpoint where the playful voice came from. There's no way that can be anything but a toon.
William steps into the lobby, looking at Roxanne as she looks down at William with a disgusted frown.
"Why in Cog's name is there a toon in your office with you?"
She shoots at him before he can say anything, and he takes a pause before moving to the seat across from her. He replies with a defensive,
"She's not meant to be in here. I kick her out, but she keeps finding ways to come back. I currently have her locked up in a cage away from my belongings with no way to get out."
"Hmph. Just so long as you get rid of that vermin in your office when we're finished here. And get a better security system for your lobby."
She demands sternly, crossing her arms. He grumbles a bit before responding with,
"Fine. I was planning on it anyways. Now, about those documents you needed to talk about?"
Nodding lightly, Roxy pulls up a copy of the documents on her work-appointed cell, and their meeting begins.
----------------------------------------
After a good few hours of painfully boring talking amongst the two, the meeting finally ends between the two cogs. William gets up from his seat, gently brushing his brown Bossbot suit off and straightening his tie on his chest.
"This meeting was very informative, Ms. Yatta. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be on my way."
"Right. If I come back here in the future and that toon is still in your office, I will not hesitate to report you to the higher-ups. You know very well that we're battling *against* those wretched little critters. Consider this your first and only formal warning."
"I know, I know. I'm going. Good day, Ms. Yatta."
Roxy gives no response to this, instead watching William as the elevator doors shut around him, lifting him up to his office and out of sight.
Seeing that this meeting was a great success, Roxy allows herself to crack a little smirk before getting up out of the chair she was sitting in. She squeezes herself out the door, finally making her way back to her own office down in Acorn Acres, letting the world pass her by as she goes.
--------------------------------------
Back in William's office, the little toon in the hanging cage playfully pipes up with,
"Hey there, big guy! Who was the new girl you were chatting it up with hm?"
"She's-... None of your concern. I'm not telling you anything, toon. And I wasn't 'chatting it up' with her. It was an important business meeting."
"Ohh, reeeeeally?"
She drawls out, grinning mischievously at him. He just scoffs and rolls his eyes, making his way over towards the cage and reaching up to undo the locked latch.
"Yes really. Now get out of my office before I decide to change my mind about turning you loose and green you, you annoying little pest."
"Hehe, well that's no way to treat a friend! Come on old pal, let me ask a few more questions."
"We're not friends, Rain. Not even close to it. Now get out."
"Boooooo! You're no fun. I'll be back, don't you doubt it!"
She makes her way over towards the elevator, purple tail swaying behind her. as the doors close she winks at William, the carrying her down to the lobby. He just grumbles in response, sitting back down at his desk to get back to his work again.
