Chapter Text
You hadn’t been to the coffee shop in awhile, I mean after all, you had spent the last few weeks following around celebrities because work had finally started back up again. You were too busy lost in your own world to realize it was your turn to order.
“What can I do for you?” the cashier said it a little louder “Uhm… can I get the white mocha latte” you squinted at the price, “Medium, please” the cashier punched in some numbers and the card reader lit up. You fumble with your wallet a bit and finally pull the card out, but when you tap it, it doesn’t accept.
“Fuck I’m sorry, just…” you continue to rummage through your wallet and pockets. searching for any spare change. “I got it” you hear a man behind you, you begin to thank him as you turn around, only to realize, he’s extremely attractive. He had curly brown hair styled into a mullet, with a mustache and the most gorgeous brown eyes you could think of. “Oh hi… uhm thank you so much!” you stumble over your words trying to figure out how to get this man to talk to you for even just an extra minute. “No problem” he smiles, “I’ll have the same thing” he says to the cashier.
He offers you a seat while you wait for your coffee as you two begin small talk. “So how long have you been in LA?” he asks “Oh quite a while, I’ve been a journalist for a few years” you sigh “What kinda stuff do you cover?” “Mainly celebrities, pop music icons…” you trail off. In all honesty you don’t really like your job, you feel like a creep sometimes. “That’s funny, I moved here about a year ago, tried to make it big.. didn’t quite work though” he chuckles.
“Two mocha lattes?” The employee yells, he got up and grabbed the coffees before walking back to the table. “So uh… I never got your name?” you said. “Ben, and I never got your number?”
You return to your apartment feeling a warm sensation in your chest. Ben was proving to be quite the man. He texted you as soon as you left, maybe it was just because you forgot your jacket but nonetheless he did it. You hadn’t had true romance in your life in a long time, and watching all these famous, rich people fall in love was starting to get to you.
The delusion wore off when you clocked in for work the next day, a file was waiting for you on your desk. You pick it up and begin to skim through it, Benson Boone, 22, upcoming pop star, famous for backflips and belting. It all seemed pretty normal until a piece of paper fell out, as you picked it up and flipped it over you realized you had definitely seen this face before.
You’d be lying if you said you didn’t recognize it immediately. You knew that it was Ben, and suddenly things were a lot more complicated.
