Work Text:
“Go to my apartment and feed my cat” doesn’t sound like that big of a task, but when it comes from your superior, a military commander… There's no room for even the tiniest mistake, even just being given a key and the permission to access his personal quarters is a big deal.
But Agent Worms isn’t doing this for Commander Walters himself, nor out of fear of reprimand for denying an order, no no. He’s doing it for the cat, a fluffy little thing with eyes so wide you can see your own reflection within them, who’s meows are so pitched and squeaky that human ears almost can’t detect them, that’s who Worms accepted this task for, and who he cannot risk failing.
Entering Walters’ apartment should feel daunting, wrong and unnatural, but none of those feelings even cross Agent Worms mind as he unlocks the door and enters, making sure it’s locked tight behind him. Olive, the commander's fluffy grey cat approaches immediately once the door is closed, letting out a squeaky meow demanding attention. Worms scoops them up immediately, planting soft kisses upon their fluffy head as they immediately start purring, he walks further into the apartment towards the kitchen, already having been given the exact location of the food and bowl.
Olive is small enough that she can be held in one arm, Worms shifts her over without any protest nor ceasing in her constant stream of purrs, and pops open the fridge grabbing the can of fancy wet food.
Worms carries both the can and the cat over to the where the food bowls lay, hearing excited purrs and chirps from a very content Olive, a kitty well aware she’s about to have a feast. Worms sets her down on the ground first, then pops the can open and dumps it into the bowl, chuckling as Olive instantly sticks her face in without hesitation. He then grabs the water bowl and fills it with fresh cold filtered water from the fridge’s water filter, as has been directly instructed by Walters himself.
Worms snaps a quick picture on his phone as proof of task completion and forwards it to Walters, before sitting on the floor and listening to the sounds of Olive eating, he had no other work for the day so he might as well spend some more time with the little kitty, and maybe get some pictures for the office group chat? The other agents probably would love to see more of Olive.
