This is just an exploration of what Heather might have been thinking during dodgebrawl and not quite famous.

Work Text:

It all started when Lindsay said she wanted to date Tyler while they were discussing the rules to the alliance. Obviously Heather couldn’t let that happen. She needed Lindsay to be loyal to her and her alone. So of course she shut that down.

That should have been the end of it, but then Lindsay wandered off from the dodgeball challenge with Tyler! And this was after he’d hit her in the face with a dodgeball. She had to get her back. Lindsay could get eliminated if she kept this up.

If took her a little while to find Lindsay and Tyler but eventually she found them under the dock. She was giggling with him. Heather felt something twist in her gut. It was a feeling she recognized. A feeling that she’d felt many times before. Jealousy.

It didn’t make much sense to her. What was there to be jealous about? Anger would make more sense, and she was also feeling a lot of that, so she decided to lean into it. “This is so against the rules!”

“I’m sorry!” Lindsay protested.

“Hey! Why don’t you just chill out?” Tyler yelled up to her.

Chill out?! Chill out?! Tyler should be the one chilling out! Chilling out and backing off of Lindsay!! Anger spiking and the underlying feeling of jealousy driving said anger, Heather picked up a canoe and held it over her head. “Why don’t you get bent?!” With that she threw the canoe at Tyler. It was so satisfying.

Then she took Lindsay back to the game where she belonged. Honestly Lindsay was just lucky that Noah ran his mouth the whole challenge otherwise she would definitely be out.

Once again Heather thought that she had taken care of the problem, but it quickly became clear to her that she hadn’t. She’d sent Lindsay off to spy on Gwen and when she called her back she ended up taking a bit to respond.

Which was bad enough but when she got back her hair was messed up and her clothing the slightest bit askew. Heather can recognize the signs of a make out and there’s only one person that she would be making out with.

She can feel that sensation of jealousy twisting in the pit of her stomach again. And she still didn’t understand why. Perhaps it was because Lindsay was supposed to be hers. Her ally, her peon, and Tyler was distracting Lindsay from that fact. To be honest Heather was never good at sharing.

Thankfully the blonde had managed to see something before going off to do traitorous acts with Tyler. Gwen had been writing in a diary. It was perfect. She could take the goth down a peg and make things awkward between her and Trent. After all, a relationship was basically an alliance. And the only alliance on the island was going to be hers.

She also had to admit as she rifled around in the girls side of the cabin that she was taking some spiteful glee in ruining Gwen’s chances at a relationship after all the trouble Tyler was causing her.

As bad of a guard as Lindsay was, At least she stayed put. Heather half expected Tyler to come out nowhere and distract her. Heather managed to get her hands on Gwen’s diary and stash it elsewhere for later use before the goth got into the cabin.

When the talent show started,Heather was feeling great about their chances. Justin’s act scored high, DJ choked, and Trent’s almost got the full points. Then came Bridgette’s act. She was standing on her hands, and then she started to puke all over people.

Heather had mixed feelings on it. On the one hand it would definitely score low and it was kind of fun to see the reactions of others. On the other hand though it was so gross and the smell was awful.

Her opinions on the act were settled when a stream of vomit hit Tyler. That was so funny, but of course her happiness didn’t last long, as Lindsay’s reaction ruined any joy she got out of it.

“Hey! Puke on your own boyfriend!” Lindsay yelled.

Boyfriend. Lindsay called him her boyfriend?! “On your own what, Lindsay?: She asked, a dangerous tone in her voice.

Lindsay immediately backpedaled. “I didn’t say boyfriend!”

Heather could feel her anger mounting and fortunately she had the perfect outlet for said anger. While Chef cleaned the stage she changed into her ballet tutu and retrieved Gwen’s diary. She knew her face was lit up with a depraved grin.

She made sure to school her face into something less obvious before she made her way on stage. Time to ruin weird goth girl’s life. Everything went according to plan, with Gwen even running away at the end. Perfect.

Of course they ended up losing thanks to Harold. For the second time in a row. But Heather doesn’t have time to dwell on that now. She has to gather the votes to get rid of someone besides her. It wasn’t hard. Beth and Lindsay were in her alliance, Izzy was insane, Owen was easily bribed with a piece of cake. That was five out of ten so at worst it would be a tie.

It wasn’t a tie. Heather doesn’t know which of the other five didn’t vote for her and she didn’t care. She was safe for another night. Not that she turned in right away. No she had to go to the confessional to work some things out.

She sat down and looked at the camera. Heather doesn’t know why, but the confessional really does make her want to talk. And it brought thoughts to the surface that she didn’t know she’d been thinking. As it turned out Lindsay’s earlier comment had gotten to her in some manner.

Boyfriend. Lindsay already considered Tyler her boyfriend. Even though she barely knew him. Even though she’s supposed to be committed to her. Her alliance that was. Yet somehow the word itself was the most disconcerting thing. It felt like Lindsay was taken. My Tyler of all people. Tyler doesn’t deserve someone like Lindsay.

She paused thinking about that. Why did she place Lindsay about Tyler? Was it because LIndsay was hot? And loyal? And naive enough to believe her no matter what? Not to mention she had an easily moldable mind.

With a start Heather realized that most of her previous boyfriends had a similar personality to Lindsay’s. It wasn’t that she was romantically interested in any of them, but they were perfect for her. She likes to be in charge. She likes to hold all the cards in a relationship. She likes to have someone with the utmost loyalty at her side. Again it wasn’t really romantic in nature. Though she did enjoy the physical aspects.

Heather shook her head. No. She wasn’t into girls. That couldn’t be it. Even if she was into girls. She was smart enough to keep her feelings out of the game. And even if she did get emotional it wouldn’t be out of jealousy. Especially of Tyler. Heather is above jealousy. There’s no need to be jealous of someone who is objectively worse than you.

One thing she could admit though, she was definitely possessive of Lindsay. Could you blame her? The girl was literally the perfect follower. She’s not going to lose her to some jock who isn’t even good at sports! Of course, that was another thing she’d felt whenever she dated…

She sighed. Whatever these feelings may be, it didn't matter. They were merely distractions. She is going to win this game. And nothing would stop her.

Notes:

And that's all for pride Month! Sorry if there wasn't a lot of romance. this was more about Heather coming to a realization.
