“You look beautiful, Ginny,” Hermione said, as she brushed Ginny’s copper locks and adjusted the tiara on her head. “You’re the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen.” Ginny blushed when their eyes met through the reflection of the ornate gold mirror. Hermione’s hand landed on Ginny’s bare shoulder, where she squeezed her lightly.
“I’m sure Daphne’s going to look way better than me,” Ginny said proudly.
Of course, Greengrass is going to look amazing. She always does. Hermione had to contain the scowl that threatened to form on her face.
When Ginny’s eyes stared out the window and down at the wedding reception in the Greengrass’ garden, Hermione knew that Ginny was too far gone. Hermione lost her only shot at getting the girl she loved— her only shot at being in love.
“I’m going to head down. I’ll see you out there,” Hermione said, backing away from the bride and turning to leave. Ginny simply hummed in response. She didn’t spare Hermione a glance.
When Hermione left the room, she looked at Ginny one last time, before leaving the manor and ditching the ceremony. She couldn’t watch as Ginny walked down the aisle and promised herself to another woman.
