The sun was shining brightly and there was not a single dark cloud in the sky! This made it the perfect weather for Bobby BearHug to enjoy another wonderful day. Bobby just got finished with her morning activities when she left her home to spread love and kindness to others.
Throughout the day, Bobby happily spent time with everyone in the village and comforted anyone who needed a hug. No matter how sad someone was, Bobby was always there to make them feel better.
After spreading happiness throughout the village all day, Bobby decided to take a relaxing walk through the park. As she made her way through the park, she suddenly came to a stop when she took notice of a familiar green rabbit.
“Hoppy?”
Here, Bobby took notice of her friend, Hoppy Hopscotch sitting on a nearby bench. As she took a closer look at her friend, Bobby noticed that Hoppy didn’t appear to be her usual energetic self. She couldn’t help but feel that Hoppy looked depressed about something. Determined to help her friend out, Bobby took a seat next to Hoppy on the bench.
“Hello, Hoppy!” Bobby cheerfully greeted.
Upon noticing Bobby, Hoppy greeted her with a small smile, despite how sad she was. “Oh, hey, Bobby. What’s up?”
“Is something wrong, Hoppy?” Bobby asked, seeing through Hoppy’s fake smile. “You seem to be upset about something.”
Just like that, Hoppy’s smile faded away, knowing she was unable to hide anything from her friend. “Don’t worry about it. It’s stupid anyway.”
It was at this point when Bobby knew that something was definitely wrong. With a look of determination, Bobby held on to Hoppy’s paws, much to Hoppy’s surprise.
“Hoppy, listen to me! Your feelings are anything but stupid! If you have anything at all that is bothering you, I promise I will be there to listen!” Bobby promised.
Bobby always has been a good listener to Hoppy whenever it came to her problems, so she supposed it couldn’t hurt to talk about her troubles.
“Alright. It’s really no big deal, but I just lost my 10th game in a row to Kickin and I guess I’m kind of letting it get to me.” Hoppy admitted. “I don’t know if I’m losing my touch or if I’m just tired.”
As she listened to Hoppy, Bobby understood why she would be so upset. Playing sports was her passion and she didn’t seem to be having fun with it anymore. She tried to think of a way to make Hoppy feel better before she came up with an idea.
“Hey, why don’t you take a break from sports for awhile? I think I know just the thing to help you relax!” Bobby said.
Hesitant, Hoppy pondered Bobby’s offer. She never was the type of critter to relax, especially after all the practice she had done lately.
“I don’t know. I kind of prefer to be energetic over being relaxed.”
“Don’t be silly! I promise you’ll have a fun time! Here, let me lead the way!” Bobby insisted, taking Hoppy’s paw.
It was at that moment when Bobby led Hoppy to a nearby lake. Here, Bobby sat down on the grass before taking out a loaf of bread. She soon handed a piece of bread to Hoppy, much to the green rabbit’s confusion.
“Uh, Bobby? What are we doing here, exactly?” Hoppy asked, confused.
“I’m so glad you asked, Hoppy! We’re here to feed the ducks!” Bobby exclaimed, pointing to a bunch of ducks swimming in the pond.
“Feeding the ducks?” Hoppy repeated. “Isn’t that kind of boring?”
Bobby shook her head. “Not at all. This would not only help you relax, but it would also make the ducks happy too. Here, let me show you!”
At that moment, Bobby took a few pieces from her loaf of bread before dropping the pieces into the lake. This caused the ducks to quack in joy as they swam over to the bread, eating the crumbs one by one.
“Now, it’s your turn!” Bobby told Hoppy.
Hoppy soon broke her piece into a couple of crumbs before she got ready to throw. However, she ended up throwing the bread a little too hard as the bread crumbs ended up flying over the lake and nowhere near the water.
“Um, maybe you should be a little more gentle next time. Here, let me help you.” Bobby took Hoppy’s paw that still had crumbs in it as Hoppy couldn’t help but feel nervous.
“Wh-What are you doing?”
“Just follow my lead.” Holding on to Hoppy’s arm, Bobby gently swung it back and forth. “Do you feel the gentle rhythm of your arm? Now just relax and do exactly what I showed you.”
With that, Hoppy took a deep breath before throwing the bread much gentler this time. The bread soon flew into the lake with the ducks happily nibbling on the crumbs.
“See? I knew you could do it, Hoppy!” Bobby smiled.
Hoppy giggled in response. “What can I say? You’re a great teacher!”
For the next couple of moments, Bobby and Hoppy sat in silence, both of them taking turns throwing crumbs in the lake. Once she was finished with her loaf of bread, Hoppy took a glance at Bobby, who was still feeding the ducks. The ducks quacked in joy as Bobby threw more crumbs.
“Oh, you ducks are so cute!” Bobby exclaimed.
Seeing this caused Hoppy to give a smile. Whenever anyone was having a bad day, Bobby was always there to make them feel better, thanks to her patience, kindness, and compassion. It was something that Hoppy had always admired about her friend. After a few moments of silence, Hoppy would soon realize that she was gazing at Bobby for a little too long as Bobby stared back with a puzzled expression.
“Hoppy? Are you feeling okay?” Bobby asked.
Once she realized what happened, Hoppy blushed before shyly looking away. “Uh, yeah! It’s nothing!”
To forget about this awkward moment, Hoppy reached for another loaf of bread to feed the ducks with. As she tossed more crumbs into the pond Hoppy began to think of a question that she has been wondering about for awhile.
“Hey, Bobby?” Hoppy got Bobby’s attention. “How come we barely hang out together?”
That was actually a question that Bobby hadn’t thought of. Sure, the two of them spend time together when they are on adventures with their friends, but they barely seemed to interact with just each other, as in just the two of them.
“I actually don’t know.” Bobby admitted. “I guess I didn’t think you would want to spend time with me since you usually like to hang out with Kickin. Besides, I’m not cool enough to hang out with someone like you.”
“Hey, don’t say that.” Hoppy took Bobby’s paw. “Sure, I’m good at sports and all that stuff, but you’re cool in your own way, Bobby! You always take care of us whenever we feel down. Even when I’m being reckless or impatient, you still find the patience and kindness to bring me back down to reality. You’re actually pretty amazing!”
This time, it was Bobby’s turn to be flustered. She never knew that Hoppy thought of her that way before. She couldn’t help but give a shy smile in response. It wasn’t long before Bobby took notice of something and suddenly began to laugh.
“What’s so funny?” Hoppy raised a confused eyebrow.
“It looks like you just made a friend!” Bobby pointed to the top of Hoppy’s head.
Looking up, Hoppy just noticed that one of the baby ducks just jumped on her head right between her long ears.
“Hey, what are you doing up there?” Hoppy asked with an amused smile as the duck sat down on her head.
“I think this one likes you, Hoppy!” Bobby laughed.
At that moment, Bobby gently took the duck in her paws before placing it back in the pond with its friends and family. With the rest of the bread now gone, Bobby and Hoppy decided to pack everything up as they said goodbye to the ducks. The two friends walked down a nearby path as they spoke to one another.
“So, how do you feel now, Hoppy?”
“I feel much better, thanks to you!” Hoppy smiled.
As the two friends continued their walk down the path, Hoppy suddenly stopped in her tracks when she took notice of a nearby sign.
“No way!” Hoppy excitedly ran towards the sign to get a better look. “They just built a new skating rink!”
“They did?” Bobby took a step forward to observe the sigh with Hoppy. “Wow! This seems like something that you would really enjoy!”
“You know it! Want to come with me, Bobby?” Hoppy asked.
Surprised by the offer, Bobby took a moment to think about it. She had never gone skating before, but felt that she should at least give it a try, especially after Hoppy was willing to feed the ducks with her.
“Oh, why not? It could actually be fun!” Bobby agreed to come along.
“Alright! Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go!”
With that, Hoppy took Bobby’s paw before leading her to the skating rink. Here, the two of them put on a couple of pairs of skates before making their way to the center of the rink. While Hoppy skated around the rink with ease, Bobby barely managed to get far as she was unable to stand up straight due to her lack of experience.
It wasn’t long before Hoppy took notice of Bobby struggling to keep her balance. The green bunny couldn’t help but give an amused grin at this sight. She knew that Bobby was doing her best, so she decided to help her friend out.
“Need some help?” Hoppy asked, skating towards Bobby.
“N-No, no! I’m doing just fine! I just need to find my balance and- Aaah!” Bobby yelped as she suddenly fell to the ground. “Okay, maybe I do need a little help.”
Hoppy giggled in response. “Don’t feel bad! I remember needing to practice a lot when I first started skating too! Let me help you out!”
At that moment, Hoppy helped Bobby back up while also helping her keep her balance. Knowing that Bobby was still feeling nervous, Hoppy decided to ease her in by skating slowly while keeping a firm grip on Bobby’s paw.
Every second that they skated together helped Bobby feel less and less nervous. The red bear soon stopped trembling as she happily skated with her friend.
“There you go! I knew you would get the hang of it!” Hoppy exclaimed.
In response, Bobby blushed slightly, happily enjoying her day with her friend. She had been so distracted from the wonderful time she had with Hoppy she didn’t see where she was going an ended up slipping.
“Whoa! I got you!” Hoppy reached out and grabbed Bobby with one arm before she fell to the floor.
Once Bobby was safe, she opened her eyes as she and Hoppy gazed at one another in silence. Bobby had never been more glad that she had red colored fur as it hid the fact that she was blushing from being held in Hoppy’s arm. As for Hoppy, she didn’t feel any less nervous. Just staring in Bobby’s eyes caused Hoppy’s heart to beat really fast. Well, faster than it usually beats, at least.
“A-Are you okay, Bobby? You didn’t hurt yourself, did you?” Hoppy asked.
It was at that moment when Bobby snapped out of her trance before she stuttered, “N-No, H-Hoppy. I’m fine. Thanks for catching me.”
After that awkward moment, Bobby and Hoppy decided that they have had enough skating for the day. They both returned their skates before deciding to head back to their homes.
The sun began to set by this point as Bobby and Hoppy walked down a dirt path together, neither of them saying a word. It wasn’t long before they reached a crossroad with both paths leading to their houses.
“Well, I guess this is where we say our goodbyes.” Bobby said. “Thank you for taking me to the skating rink! I had a lot of fun! I’ll see you later Hoppy!”
Bobby soon began to walk down the path to her house, but didn’t get far before Hoppy called out for her. “Hey, Bobby?”
At that moment, Bobby turned around to face Hoppy.
“Um, I just wanted to thank you for everything. I was feeling pretty down until you showed up. You really helped cheer me up.”
“I was happy to help, Hoppy! Maybe someday, we can spend time together again. I mean, if you want to.” Bobby looked away with a shy smile.
“Sure! I would love to!” Hoppy replied, wanting nothing more than to see Bobby again. “Want to meet up at your house tomorrow?”
Bobby nodded. “Of course! It’s a date!” Bobby paused the moment she realized what she just said. “I mean, not a date! Just a regular hang out! I don’t know why I just said that!” Bobby awkwardly looked away, embarrassed from what she said. “Should we just hug each other goodbye?”
“Why not? Just make sure you don’t hug too tight to the point where you squeeze the life out of me.” Hoppy joked, knowing how tight Bobby’s hugs can be.
With that, the two friends began to hug each other goodbye. As Bobby and Hoppy hugged each other, for some strange reason, neither of them wanted to let go.
All they could think of was how much of an amazing day they had together and how wonderful the other was. As much as they didn’t want to let go, Bobby and Hoppy knew that it was time for both of them to leave, so they broke from the hug to say goodbye.
Once she broke from the hug, Bobby gazed at Hoppy one more time. “So, I should get going now. I’ll see you tomorrow, Hoppy!”
“Right. See ya, Bobby.” Hoppy waved goodbye.
As the two friends said their goodbyes, they made their way back to their homes. Throughout their walks, Bobby and Hoppy couldn’t help but think of one another as they had both done some much for each other in a single day. While Bobby helped cheer Hoppy up through her love and kindness, Hoppy helped Bobby have a fun and exciting day. With the day coming to an end, Bobby and Hoppy looked forward to seeing each other again as they both felt that tomorrow could not come soon enough.
The End
