Work Text:

The novelist sits at his husband's desk, sheets of paper and an ink pen set resting on the mahogany table, the same one his husband bent him over just last week before the man was sent to war and left him alone with their four kids, the memory flashes fondly in his mind as he smiles and watches Yugo chase Alban down the hallway and Mysta chases after them as he tries to get his younger brothers ready for school. The memory of his husband's lips on his neck and his hands in Vox’s hair as he consummated their love by becoming one in flesh just like their wedding night almost 17 years ago. He smiles down at his wedding ring with a fond smile as he twirls around the room. He’s starting to sound like a lovesick housewife. He misses his husband daily and it's hard raising five kids while your beloved husband is off at war. So he phones his friend Uki with an ingenious idea that he never would’ve imagined doing in his life and they schedule a meeting for after the kids go to school.

He hears a knock and he looks up to see his oldest sons, Shu and Mysta, lean against the door, their backpacks slung over one shoulder and uniforms perfectly smooth and Mysta raises an eyebrow as he holds a stack of papers “writing Pops a letter again, mama?” and Ike smiles as his son drops a stack of drawings on the desk and Ike stands up and fixes Mysta’s tie as the brunette rolls his eyes and Shu laughs from his spot by the door. He walks over and lets Ike fix his hair and tie as Mysta huffs “Yugo, Albie and Rose wanted to send pops some art. We’re off to school now mama” Mysta kisses his mothers cheek and Shu waves as he follows his brother out of the house as Ike looks through the drawings with a soft smile on his face.

He begins writing his letter and he pauses to go make breakfast for the rest of his kids and then he takes the younger three to school. When he gets back he picks up his pen and continues writing. When the letters are finished he places them on the side of the desk and he goes to answer the doorbell “Uki! Come on in!” The magenta haired man smiles as the two of them work to get the photo area set up. Ike puts the red lingerie set on and he can't help but feel overexposed and a little self conscious. He knows Vox will love it regardless but the idea of sending him a photograph where he's wearing something so see through and tiny makes him a little worried for his back when his husband returns home.

Once the pictures are taken and printed and Uki leaves, Ike showers and dresses himself in some white pants and a black button down shirt and he leaves to go pick up his three youngest children from school. When he gets back he starts dinner preparations immediately by the time the kids have eaten and gone to bed, the letter he was writing is finished and sealed with a wax seal in a gorgeous shade of blue with a red camellia attached to it. A symbol of their love everlasting, even when they’re both miles apart.

“My dearest husband,
It’s oh so quiet without you here chatting the morning away. The kids miss you dearly and I miss you the most. Shu and Mysta are due to graduate high school soon, top of their class. Alban and Yugo are the smartest kids in their class and our darling Rosemi has become a wonderful dancer. they wanted to send you some drawings and they miss you. Everyday without you in our bed is another day I fall deeper into the pit of sadness. how i miss your hands around my waist. Our bed is cold and empty and my heart even more so without you. You often said I should try to write more even though we have children to take care of, so maybe these letters will serve as my excuse to keep writing. I do hope you’re taking care of yourself even in battle. Please do your best. I’ve attached some lovely pictures to this week’s letter. I hope you enjoy my husband and come home safely, we miss you, Vox. My heart is eternally yours, my husband and it shall stay that way till the final hourglass runs out of sand. I love you.
with all the love in the world,
Ike Eveland Akuma” the novelist chuckles as he places the photographs in the envelope. He is very grateful he got Uki’s help in choosing an outfit for the photos, although red is not a colour he thought he would ever buy for lingerie of all things and he never thought the pieces would be so…see through. He can only imagine the look on his husband's face when he gets the letter and sees the pictures as he places the letter in the mail box and he heads back inside to stop Mysta, Alban and Yugo from burning their house down.

He hums as he cleans the house, the kids now settled in bed ready for the weekend. He hides the lacy red set in his drawers and sits by the window in his husband's arm chair with a cup of tea and a book in his hands, a red blanket draped over his shoulders. He hears Rosemi cry out for Vox and he moves to go comfort her when he sees Shu cross the hallway into his little sisters room and he smiles as his oldest child hugs his youngest child and reads her a story. he smiles and presses a kiss to Rosemi’s forehead as he tucks her back into bed and he presses a kiss to the side of Shu’s head as his son heads back to bed and Ike places his mug in the sink as he heads to the bathroom to get ready for bed.

And if a week later, his husband sends him a letter calling him an enchantress set on keeping him in his grasp for life and thanking him for the pictures and thanking the kids for the artwork? Then that's his business. And if a month later his husband comes home while the kids are at school and they spend the entire day locked in their bedroom, wrapped up in each other and the black silk sheets just like they were 17 years ago on their wedding night, drunk on nothing but their love and the feeling of being happy? then that's their business and their story to tell.
