Sickbay Now

Summary:

Bones and Spock got back from a mission where Spock was tortured. And he tried to skip going to sickbay.

Notes:

I really love these two and their arguing.

Work Text:

"Where exactly do you think you are going?" Bones demanded.

Spock stopped in his tracks and turned back from the door to where Bones was still standing on the transporter platform. Bones glared at him.

"I am going back to my quarters to get started on my report," he replied.

Bones ground his teeth. Leave it to the vulcan to try and ignore the fact that he had just been tortured to write a report. Why did his heart have to pick the single most stubborn man he had ever met to be in love with?

"Like hell you are," he spat out. "You were tortured for hours. So, you are going to march yourself down to sickbay to get an exam and any treatment that is required."

"If you insist, Doctor."

He was calm in that way that drove Bones up the wall. Pretending like he wasn't hurt. Which with what he had been put through, he most certainly was. At least one of those blows had been directly over his heart.

Bones strode off the transporter platform and brushed past Spock to go out the door. He started walking toward sickbay. Spock's footsteps followed him all the way there, only fully catching up as they entered.

At the look on his face Nurse Chapel left the exam room to go somewhere else. Which he appreciated. It was going to be easier without anyone else in the room to get Spock to properly behave himself.

"Okay up on the bed," Bones said.

Spock complied for once.

"Would it not be better for someone with less emotional attachment to perform my exam?" Spock asked as he got settled.

"I'm not letting anyone else do this," Bones said sternly.

Then he started the biobed's scanning function. He watched the readings as they started to come up. His vitals were completely wrong for a human or a vulcan, but were normal for Spock. But there were plenty of injuries that needed

"Is this one of those times where your emotions won't let you release my care to anyone else?" Spock asked.

A fairly reasonable question. It was certainly better than Spock calling him illogical for his emotions. Which he had been getting better about since they had become a couple.

He moved closer to Spock's head so he could look into his warm brown eyes.

"Yes, Spock, it is," he said. "I just watched you be tortured for hours. I need to be the one to make sure you are okay. I can't let it go, even if it would be the best thing to do as your partner. I have to be the one to treat you or I won't be able to do anything else."

Spock nodded as best he could while laying on his back.

"I can't say that is the logical course of action," he said. "Though if it what you need to feel secure than it is the best course of action for your care since I don't have any life threatening injuries."

"I'll be the judge of that," Bones grumbled.

He was right of course. There were no injuries worse than a bad bruise, but Bones felt immensely better after making sure and treating the worst of it. But he still refused to let Spock go back to his quarters alone, instead accompanying him where they could write their reports together.
