Chapter Text
Wednesday Addams was never truly startled or caught off guard and even when she was she quickly regained her composure, shot the individual who managed to do the impossible a bone chilling look, and simply went on with her day.
But the second she found herself ejecting bergamot tea directly into her fiancé's face, she knew that the universe itself was on a completely different kilter.
“So I guess that’s a no?” Tyler said grabbing a napkin and wiping his face that stung with hot tea.
“In what world did you think I would possibly say yes?” She shifted right back into her usual deadpan expression, but the damage was done and she knew he knew it.
“C’mon Wednesday, It will benefit you too.”
“How is getting involved in your father’s love life in anyway beneficial to me?” She quipped watching Tyler sigh.
“Well for one, you won’t have to worry about him constantly checking up on you.” He listed.
“I’m not scared of him or that abomination he totes around with him everyday.” Wednesday shoots back.
“Wednesday, Don’t talk about Elvis like that.” Tyler frowned.
“I wasn’t, I was referring to the box of donuts he cruises around in the car with every morning, I’m surprised he still has arteries.”
Tyler shakes his head, “Wednesday, look, unfortunately I’ve known my dad entire life, and I'm telling you I'm concerned for his well being.”
“Isn’t that an oxymoron?” She immediately asks.
“I can hate him and be concerned for his well being at the same time, don't’ judge.” Tyler shrugged.
Wednesday rolls her eyes, “Is he suicidal?”
“No, but he constantly reeks of alcohol and I'm pretty sure he’s been driving under the influence more than a couple of times, I know he hasn’t been a cop for a while, but that man used to write tickets for DUI’s faster than anyone, it’s out of character.” He stresses.
“Then he needs AA, not a girlfriend.” She rebuts.
“I think he just needs someone to talk to, I mean every since he lost his job all those years ago, he’s barely left the house, I keep asking him to move, the towns people has vandalized our house faster than the paint I put over it dries.” He sighs shifting back in his seat and running a hand over his recently buzzed cut hair.
At first Wednesday had missed his curls, but she understood Tyler was trying to move forward in his life, new identity, new look.
But even she could tell his dad was stressing him out more than usual.
Wednesday sighs.
“Do you have a person for him in mind?” Wednesday reluctantly asks taking a sip of her tea that was already lukewarm.
“Actually, she’s right over there.” He says shifting his head to the right of them, Wednesday steals a quick glance and for the second time that day she almost spews out her beverage.
“You cannot be serious.” Wednesday flat out asks looking at Tyler who was only shooting her a sheepish grin.
“Trust me on this, they would totally hit it off.” Tyler immediately defends.
Wednesday opens her mouth to immediately rebuttal, but she catches herself because she’s genuinely curious as to how this might end.
“And helping you with this will benefits me how?” Wednesday asks.
“He will be completely distracted at our wedding and out of your hair.” Tyler smirks knowing this would tempt her.
“Hm..Then I would just have to worry about mother.” Wednesday mumbles.
“Speaking of, Morticia called me a few times today, she wants to know why you’re not answering her calls.” Tyler says watching Wednesday uncomfortably shift for a second before once again straightening her posture to a point where anyone would swear she had a ironing board under her shirt propping her upright.
“Can’t I ignore my mother in peace?” Wednesday huffs.
“Wen’s I know you and your mom don’t always see eye to eye…but she really does seem like she’s trying to help.” He gently argues.
“Into a early grave perhaps, I do not want to see her, I’m capable of planning this wedding myself.” Her tone irritable as she clutches the handle on her teacup a bit to hard to the point it breaks off causing her tea to fall all over the table and the clatter catching everyone’s attention.
A waitress immediately comes over arms flailing about in distress.
“What kind of cafe uses soda lime dishes in a upscale tea shop, is the owner poor or just cheap?” She snaps at the waitress who was profusely apologizing.
Tyler sighed realizing this commotion caught the attention of the last person he wanted to notice them hauled up in the corner of the tea shop.
He could only watch as the woman got up smiling and immediately began walking towards the two of them.
When she finally reached the table Tyler quickly put on a polite smile as Wednesday greeted the woman with her usual unimpressed glare.
“Why hello Tyler what a surprise to see you here, how long has it been?” The woman smiles at him kindly.
“Dr. Fairburn what a crazy coincidence, it’s been a while..what 6-7 years?” He smiles.
Dr.Fairburn looks stunned but laughs lightly, “Yes I suppose it has been that long, how have you been?” She asks her eyes temporarily shifting into that look he had seen one too many times at Willow Hill, the look where she asks something that had the potential to unlock the mystery within him.
He hadn’t missed that look, but he had missed her, out of all the therapist he had seen throughout the years, she was by far the best one.
He could tell she actually cared which is probably why she had quickly been sought after by many patients and declared one of the top DR’s in the country, she’s spoken on numerous talk shows about outcasts, mental health, couple counseling and just about any other grievance a person could have.
He had heard she had moved out of Jericho a few years back, but she has come back to promote a book she was releasing soon, and thought that her hometown would be a good place to have a launch party.
It just so happened that Wednesday and Tyler’s wedding aligned up with that launch party date, and so many people from Jericho and other nearby towns would be attending the Addams family celebration and wedding that was quickly looked upon as one of the biggest events in ages.
The whole town was practically invited much to Wednesday’s chagrin.
He watched Wednesday and her parents bicker back and forth for months, until Gomez had finally convinced his daughter that this would be a great function between outcasts and normies to finally meet up, socialize, and enjoy a beautiful union between two people who worked past their own issues and found love.
Tyler almost laughed and thought his future father in law should maybe write a book as well.
“I’ve been better, mostly thanks to you.” He complimented earnestly.
He truly had a lot to thank her for, he hadn’t realized it at the time, but Dr. Fairburn helped him tackle a lot of his inner emotions that were begging to be released.
She took the time to not only know him as Tyler, but also him as Hyde, and for that both of them was truly grateful.
He watches her smile genuinely, “I’m glad to hear it, Oh is this Wednesday Addams?” She says turning to Wednesday who had been carefully observing her as the two of them spoke.
“I see my name still precedes me, if so, you should attend my wedding.” Wednesday swiftly interjects catching the both of them off guard.
“Oh -uh wow, I just came into town for a launch party of my book, but how can I possibly miss such a grand event.” She immediately beams.
“You mean opportunity, this will certainly give you a chance to network, find new clients, promote your book, and even deal with some business investors.”
He watched Dr. Fairburn pause surprised at how fast the gloomy woman before her read her quicker than a skilled psychiatrist that had been in the business for nearly 20 years.
“You would make an excellent psychiatrist.” She laughs dryly.
“Or patient or so I’ve been told.” Wednesday shrugs.
Fairburn laughs again only this time lightly, “Well it’s awfully kind of you to invite me-”
“Oh I'm sorry did you take it as an invite?” Wednesday raises a brow as Fairburn shoots her a bemused look.
“Uh-”
“I just listed off every way coming to my wedding will be beneficial to you, but do you honestly think I would do something like that out of the kindness of my heart? Uhg, Guess Tyler didn’t fill you in about me in those therapy sessions huh?”
A silence fell upon the table as Tyler looked at Wednesday pleadingly, begging her not to mess this up.
Wednesday ignores him and continues, “You’re invited to the wedding, on one condition, you must show up with a date, more specifically, former Sheriff Galpin.” Wednesday says as her signature devious smirk crosses her lips, Tyler loved that smirk and had to seriously surpress the one growing on his own face.
“W-wait isn’t that your-”
“Father? Yes.” Tyler answered quickly, “But before you say no, I’m no longer your patient, and you would be helping a very sad old man hopefully not drink himself into an early grave.”
She looked at Tyler inquisitively for a second before weighing the pros and cons in her mind, “And does the former Sheriff know about this arrangement?” She asks.
“No, but he likes you, I saw him tune into your interview one morning, he seemed to like what you were saying.” Tyler explains.
“So is he looking for a Dr, or a romantical partner?” She asks confused.
“You know I asked the same thing?” Wednesday quipped.
Tyler shot exasperated look that did nothing to faze his wife.
“Please, just one date?” Tyler sighs looking at the uncertain woman.
She looks at his pleading eyes, and rolls her eyes, “Okay okay, one date, what should I wear, should I match his attire?” She asks looking between the two.
“Anything but pink, yellow, orange, green, white, purple, brown, red, and blue.” Wednesday shrugs.
“That just leaves gray and black?” Fairburn frowns.
“Exactly, Oh and preferably, dark grey.” She cracks the faintest smile.
Dr. Fairburn looks at Tyler who can only smile apologetically, and gulps lightly but shakes her head in agreement. “Okay well..he can pick me up at my place, I’ll text you the address, you still have your same phone number?” She asks Tyler.
“Yup, one of the few things that hasn’t changed in my life.” He laughs.
“Okay well I'll text you..good night and thanks for the invite-”
“Opportunity.” Wednesday corrected.
Fairburn purses her lips, “That too, goodnight.” She says as she quickly dismisses herself leaving the couple sharing a mischievous look that was sure to bring chaos.

When Donovan heard his doorbell ring repeatedly he had chalked it up to more Jericho kids ding dong ditching him hoping to get on his nerves enough for him to make even more of an ass of himself than he already felt.
So when he opened the door with a empty rifle, cocking it once for good measure in hopes to scare the teens away, you could only imagine his surprise when he was met with a taser to his neck.
Everything went black as he was just able to pick out a voice.
“Wednesday did you just tase my dad!?” Tyler groaned.
“He’s lucky I didn’t use my mace, who aims unloaded weapons at people and not expect to get hurt in return??” She defends.
The last thing he heard was his son groaning in annoyance as the world around him faded.
-
He was jolted awake with a bucket of cold hard ice.
Not ice water.
Just cold hard ice.
“Wednesday, I thought you filled it with water!?”
“Where’s the fun in that?” Wednesday asks in annoyance.
Donovan groans, “What the hell is going on?”
“Wake up, we have to make you look halfway a desirable person.” Wednesday explains.
“Excuse me?” Donovan grunts looking between his son and future daughter in law who was and always will be a current pain in his-
“Do you need to be tased awake?” Wednesday asks.
“NO!” Donovan quickly snaps, “Tyler what is this?” He asks his son directly.
“Look, I'm worried about you and your social life, so I arranged a date for you for our wedding.” Tyler explains watching his father face shift into one that looked like pure disbelief and confusion
“And you got Wednesday to help?”
“I was just as surprised.” Wednesday shrugs.
“Dad that is besides the point, you need help, so you’re taking Dr. Fairburn to our wedding.” Tyler snaps.
He watched his fathers mouth open then close his confusion written all over his worn and tired face.
“Dr.Fairburn?? Is this a date or an appointment?”
Before Wednesday could agree Tyler quickly interjected.
“It can be both, now we have very little time to turn your into someone even remotely dateable, so I called in some reinforcements.” Tyler said stepping aside from blocking the door when all of a sudden someone bolted into the room.
“HIYA MR. GALPIN, OH EM GEE, DO YOU ALWAYS LOOKS LIKE THIS??” Enid gasps her hands covering her mouth in pure shock.
