Work Text:
Jisung has never really put much thought into how his relationship with Jaemin bloomed.
It wasn't until Chenle pointed it out that he realised there was even any kind of difference between how Jaemin treated him and how he treated anybody else.
But now that Chenle, rosy cheeked and giggling between sips of wine, had said, conspiratorially, "You know, I think he's got a bit of a soft spot for you." Well, now it's all Jisung can really think about.
It's all about the little things, Jisung supposes. Jaemin had, at some point, developed a habit of sharing their food between the two of them whenever they dined together. He doesn't know when Jaemin stopped asking if Jisung wanted to try his meal, instead simply taking half of Jisung's dish and supplementing the food with his own. Jisung pretends not to notice Jaemin always seems to pick the other meal he was debating getting.
Jaemin's never had an interest in astronomy. but he could listen to Jisung talk about the universe for hours, asking just enough questions to fuel Jisung's enthusiasm.
He's never liked watching TV, prefering to be active, working out, always on the go. And yet, he would never pass up an opportunity to binge Jisung's new favourite TV show with him.
Jaemin's never like sharing a bed with anyone. Donghyuck will often tell stories of a childhood of he and Mark and Jeno sharing beds while Jaemin always slept in his own bed.
And yet, here he is.
It's always Jaemin's idea to share a bed. On trips, they share a bed. When he stays late, like tonight, instead of taking the crouch Jisung feels the bed dip and Jaemin crawl into bed beside him. His arms wrap around him, pull him in close.
Jisung lies in Jaemin's arms and he thinks.
He thinks about all the touches he thought were platonic. Brushes of hands, stray hair being swept from his eyes, a forehead resting on his shoulder.
They don't feel platonic anymore.
Jisung can feel his face heat up as he thinks of all the times he and Jaemin had been standing, oh, so close. Eyes baring intently into his own.
The times they had talked at parties, wrapped in each other, pressed practically chest to chest, Jaemin's arms brushing against his side as Jisung drinks a water Jaemin had insisted he drink.
He thinks of the cheek and forehead kisses he thought were random, the hand holds, the times Jisung felt something brush against the corner of his lips while he was barely awake.
All those times Jaemin's eyes had flickered to his lips and he had decided he was imagining it.
Jisung was sure of it.
Jisung was sure of a lot of things, now.
In fact...
"Jaemin," Jisung whispers, barely enough to be more than a breath, "Are we dating?"
He can hear the grin in Jaemin's voice as the older boy let's his arms tighten around Jisung's waist, "took you long enough."
