Chapter Text
You enter your class the first day of school, and are relieved to see you're in the same class as your two friends. You weren't really the talkative type, so you probably wouldn't have made any new friends if you were alone.
The first couple of hours the teacher explained some simple things and gave you your schedule. After lunch break you had your first optional class, your friends had chosen a different one, so you were going to be alone this hour.
There weren't many people when you entered the room, and since you were going to be alone you decided to sit in a corner and hope no one would sit next to you. You were happy because no one had occupied the table beside you and the teacher had just arrived, but to your surprise someone opened the door before the class could start. It was a tall and slim guy with messy red hair. You remembered seeing him in a volleyball match and thinking he was kind of cute, but you couldn't recall his name, since you had never talked or been in the same class. As he entered, excusing himself from arriving late, you noticed everyone had started to whisper with their friends. You heard a conversation from the people in front of you and realized they were talking about the boy, calling him a monster or something, you had heard some kind of rumors like that but never knew where they came from. Before you realized, the boy had already sat next to you, even though it was probably because you were the only one who wasn't talking bad things about him, you couldn't stop the little smile that had formed on your face.
Everyone stopped talking and the teacher started to take attendance, you learned that the boy's name was Satori Tendou. You remembered that your friend had actually told you his name after that one match, but it had been last year and since that was the only time you had gone to a volleyball match and also the last time you saw him, you had forgotten it.
The rest of the hour was silent, you usually didn't start conversations, and because he didn't either, you two didn't talk at all.
After school, you walked home with your friend, like you always did, because you were neighbours.
"So what was your first optative class like? Did you already get new friends?" she said ironically, knowing you're too awkward to talk to anybody.
"You're so funny" you responded with the same irony, " I obviously didn't, but someone did sit next to me"
"Really? Who?"
"Satori Tendou" you said, looking at your friend to see her reaction.
"Don't people call him a monster or something like that?" she asked with a confused look on her face.
"I heard that too, I don't know why though" you said, hoping your friend did know why everyone called him that.
"I've heard rumors that say he's actually insane, but I have also seen him with his teammates and they seem to be good friends, so I don't really know" your friend responded, stopping in front of her house.
"Well, he seems pretty normal to me, but I'll tell you if anything happens. See ya!"
"Bye!" she said before entering her house.
When you arrived home you went straight to your room and changed into your pajamas. You thought about Tendou, you had class with him on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, so you would see him again tomorrow. Maybe you should talk to him so he wouldn't think that you saw him as a monster like everyone else. Or maybe not. You didn't know why you were bothered by that, so you didn't think about it anymore during the rest of the day.
