Work Text:
Birds sounded like an orchestra in the trees as Saph and Taiga passed underneath. The two were heading to Owlus, the alchemist's shop, to pick up new spell books and ingredients for Taiga's over the top potions.
The spark in Saph's eyes grew as she noticed a 'DREAMBRUSH™', a new, rare and certainly very expensive paintbrush which helped artists draw. It was regarded as the finest piece of equipment and artists could use. And Saph sure as Astellar wanted it.
Taiga noticed her staring and pressed her muzzle up to the window, "Sparkly...."
Saph grinned, claws curling into the oak-wood windowsill, "I crave the power of creation by leaving scars of darkness on paper."
Taiga raised a brow.
Saph raised her head awkwardly, "In other words, I like to draw."
"Wow that's cringe," Taiga joked. "C'mon, let's head inside and get some stuff.
One thing Saph had to get used to when being friends with Taiga was being patient. Stars, this Iriwing took ages to select the right ingredients, and Saph's eyes were fixated on that brush. And it certainly caught her off guard when she saw Taiga snatch it off the display and take it to checkout.
Owlus Vinesnapper was a wise, lean and tall goetic demon, with narrow and cold, calculating eyes which took the colour of red. He had a long, shaggy coat of brown feathers, glasses were propped up and hung via chains around his neck and nose. He wore a singular earring in his left ear, and he talked in a cheerful but soft manner.
"Oho, the Dreambrush I see? Seems all 'ose shifts at the Grand Willow paid of 'eh?" Owlus chuckled, packing the items in a woven totebag.
Taiga slung the tote over her shoulders and waved a paw at Owlus before snatching Sapphire by the wrist and exiting the shop.
Saph's fur was on end, "Why did you buy the Dreambrush?"
Taiga fished it out her bag, "For you of course."
"W-what? That's so expensive though?!"
"I come from a very noble family, I'm allowed to spend money on my friends from time to time, aren't I?"
She passed Saph the brush.
"Think of it as a thank you for everything you've done for me. I don't know where I'd be without you."
