“Nakahara Chuuya does not dream.” - Storm Bringer Code One
Or maybe he did, either way it wouldn’t matter, because Chuuya didn’t remember his dreams.
Instead he woke up in sweat with only the faintest feelings in his chest to even hint to the emotions he might have had in his “dreams.” If that’s even what they were.
Almost like he was waking up in a river, floating with the currents while simultaneously being submerged under water. He had no memory of why he was there, what put him there or who.
He stepped out of his soft bed and onto a cold birch wood floor. He took a moment to look around at the room that morning sun barely managed to bring light through a small crack in the curtains. He didn’t know what inspired him to take a look around, It looked the same as it always had after all.
But nonetheless he did look, and around him saw tall red curtains draped over a small smudged window near the ceiling. A pocket sized wooden cross hung on the door with a torn white flag hung under it. He wasn’t sure why but something looked almost sad about the display.
The door itself was torn as well. Its chipped wood gave it an almost interesting aesthetic to match the walls surrounding it that were decorated in wallpaper barely hanging on. On the wallpaper were little sheep’s and flowers decorated in yellow, red, and green.
As for the furniture in the room, it wasn’t much. His room was half underground small after all. There was a bed, a dresser, and a small potted plant as well as a rack of fancy clothes, hair ties, and hats. A nightstand sat in the room as well next to his bed and on it a lamp without cover and a miniature chest with all sorts of things inside. Rocks and flowers from the garden, and other things he’d take a liking too small enough to contain but great enough to keep.
He grabbed a pair of clthoes and headed over to the restrooms sink, looking himself in the mirror with a sigh. He then went and got himself ready for the day showering and brushing his teeth as usual before finally getting dressed. Suddenly
a knock on the door was heard.
“Come in.” Chuuya said loud enough to heard but quiet enough not to be rude. “Good morning brother.”
“Need any help?” Verlaine asked. He grabbed a black hair tie from the sinks drawer and began to tie Chuuyas messy orange hair into a braid.
“I can do those things myself.”
“I know.” Verlaine replied.
Chuuyas hair itself was just a little below shoulder length and was always a mess to brush in the mornings so he always braided it, something his brother had taught him to do.
“I’m going somewhere today.” Verlaine said.
“Ah, shall I take care of the garden while you’re gone?” Chuuya asked.
“No,” Verlaine said. “I’d like you to stay in your room today.”
“Something dangerous come up on the news again that you never let he hear of?” Chuuya asked.
“Something like that. Oh and if you hear a noise don’t go chasing after it even if it sounds like me. Stay in your closet.” He said.
“Yeah okay whatever.” Chuuya replied with slight annoyance in his tone of speaking as if such warnings were a normal thing for him. Though he never really did find out what they were about because whatever his brother spoke of never happened, to his knowledge atleast.
Verlaine walked out of the room and a minute later came back with a plate of toast and an omelet as well as a tall glass of orange juice. “For breakfast.” He spoke. “I’ll be back before lunch.”
“Thanks.” Chuuya mumbled. He grabbed the plate in one hand and the drink in the other. He looked at it for a minute. “Don’t even think about it.” Verlaine said to Chuuya understanding his thoughts.
“You sure I can’t put alcohol in it?” Chuuya asked. “Yes I’m sure.” Verlaine replied. Chuuya didn’t reply he just looked off to the distance with mishevious intent.
Verlaine gave him a tap on the shoulder. It felt weird. Like there was some command he didn’t understand being placed upon him. Verlaine walked away after that. “See ya.” Chuuya said before plopping back down on his bed with his plate, he used his gravity manipulation to lift up soemthing from under his bed and poured it in his drink.
…………………………
8 hours later…
Chuuya who had fell back to sleep after eating his meal and getting partially drunk woke up in headache. “Ugh.” He groaned.
He held his fingers to his forehead and pinched at his skin. “Fuck.” He mumbled. He sat up with un-rememberable memories and pain. “How long was I asleep?” He asked himself.
He reached for his alarm and stared at it. He blinked a few time before placing it back down, pulling himself back under the blankets.
“Not long enough,” he mumbled. “But..” he wondered. “I wonder if he’s come back home yet.”
Chuuya threw off his blanket and stood up out of bed. He tiptoed over to his door and thought for a moment.
“He did tell me to stay in my room.” He mumbled.
But if he’s home it should be fine. He thought to himself.
But if he isn’t I’ll get in trouble, would’ve he have woke me if he was back too?
Chuuya shook these thoughts away.
“No he didn’t say it’d take eight hours, and he doesn’t lie. So I should be fine.” He reached his hand for the doors handle, took a deep breath, and turned the knob.
The door creaked slightly as it opened, it was an old door after all. “Hello?”
His eyes took a moment to watch his surroundings, nothing too out of the usual.
He took a step out into the hallway and headed towards the stairs. The door was open ever so slightly you wouldn’t notice at first glance. Maybe his brother forgot to shut it all the way?
He looked back to his room for a minute in thought before turning back around.
This feels wrong, he thought.
Soon enough he was right back at his door but he couldn’t touch the knob.
Not before something stopped him.
“Hey there.” A voice spoke, he turned around after the feeling on a cold hand on his neck startled him.
A brunet with soulless eyes.
He instinctively threw a kick at the stranger but it missed. From what memories he had- he had never seen anyone but his brother before especially a kid his age on top of that it looked like, not once in his life. So this occurrence particularly caused him to panic.
“Who are you!?” He exclaimed,
“A boy just like you, Chuuya.”
“Why won’t my ability work..” he mumbled to himself.
“That would be my doing.” The brunet smiled.
“Bitch.” He threw his fist at him only to be met with a wave of delirium.
“What-“
The boy in bandages stared at him with our emotion as he fell to the ground until he was finally falling asleep, he caught a faint grin.
