"Gosh, John. Why can't you just be like the rest of us? Normal.”
The words that Kara said stuck with you throughout the school day. You know you shouldn't let them get to you, but… Sometimes you wonder if she's right and that… you might not be normal.
I mean, of course you aren't perfectly normal! No one is. But… According to your dad, you came from a meteor and may technically be an alien because of that. And you did scribble on your walls during your sleep for a while, but.
Other than that, you like to think you are normal. You don't know why you're letting Kara's words get to you. She's a bully, through and through. Sometimes, you don't know why you even talk to her anymore…
But then you remember the dreams youve had as of late. Glimpses of gold and purple. Feeling more… feminine, strangely. Feeling your mind split in two halves.
After that, you remember your habit of lying to your internet friends. Its become an addiction, almost, and you can't just… stop. It'd be too hard to admit that you're lying. So you continue to do it anyways.
And then you realize. Shes right. Normal people don't have dreams like that. Normal people aren't liars. Normal people dont get sent from meteors to earth as a baby. And even though the truth may hurt…
Those who are right…
Are better than someone who isn't normal. That's why you keep Kara in your life. That's why she's important to you.
And that's why…
No matter what, she'll always be your first and closest friend.
