Chapter 1: Summary

Notes:

This is only like a summary of what was happening with Laith before he met the other characters

Chapter Text

Laith sat near the fast river, the restaurants behind him buzzed with music and people talking.

He watched the swans float in the water, a grandma threw bread for them and all he did was watch in silence, the only company that he had was them, mostly.

Summer had started, his parents had dropped him off to stay at his great grandmother’s house all the way in Serbia, Zemun but at the more beautiful side of it, with houses that looked vintage and streets from a 70s movie, like death in Venice. It was quiet around there, not including the restaurant’s all over the place.

There wasn't people his age that weren't a copy paste version of eachother, thus he spent his time alone, with nothing other than his mind to cure his boredom.

A place so beautiful yet so dead, nothing to do around here other than admire the river Danube, he spent most of his time sitting near it, watching the Fishes jump out of the water and back in for hours at end. He sometimes brought books, sometimes a paper and a pencil, but almost everytime he didn’t use any of the stuff he brought, only leaving them to the side waiting to be acknowledged.

There was nothing interesting to look at either, maybe just some statues of people he didn’t know much about.

His boredom was at it’s peak, he was this close to just drowning himself in the fast going river to do atleast something or feel something. He eventually tried it once but chickened out. After that he was left again.

Until a new tourist family came to stay for the rest of the summer in July.

They stayed at the rented two story house just beside his great grandmother’s.

Laith didn't pay much attention to them but he waved when they said hello. That was his only interaction with the tourists.
