Cody had always been one to put himself first. Growing up in an industry such as wrestling, he was taught that everyone was out for him. No matter who it was, or how close they may be to you. But Randy seemed to be different. He never had it 'out' for Cody, as one would say. They've been close since as far as his memory goes back. Though Cody's feelings had changed over the past few years, it never changed anything between him and the other man.
Randy had always been one to put himself first too. But he didn't do it because he was taught to, Randy had emotions. Emotions he never wanted anyone to see. But Cody changed something in him, especially in these last few years of their friendship. It wasn't much of a friendship anymore. As they Drove together, ate together, shared the same bed, and most definitely more in that bed too. But Randy didn't want a label. In fact, he was terrified of them. Cody seemed to be ok with that, though.
But when Cody won that Crown, everything changed. It was all for the 'story' sure, and of course Cody wanted to get his get back. But Randy deserved that crown just as much as he did. Honestly, even more than he did. Hunter knew what he was doing. Cody was going to Summerslam for another shot at the title, but the crown didn't fit his head. It seemed as though it was made for someone else, and it just might've been.
Cody had left the arena just 30 minutes after winning his match, leaving Randy to his own. Which was ok, he had to talk with a few people and take some pictures with fans before heading out. The one thing Randy wasn't ok with was the drive back to the hotel. It was so quiet without Cody. Even if they had a fight, he would still let out mumbles every now and then just to let Randy know he was ok. But tonight was different. Cody didn't even find the other man before leaving the arena. That was unusual, but Randy didn't even get a text either.
Randy slid the keycard, opening the door and dropping his bags right where he stood. His shoes were next, as he kicked them off and pushed them to the side, so he or Cody wouldn't trip on them. Randy turned the corner, stepping into the main area of their hotel room. Cody was at the head of the bed, his back lent up against the wooden headboard. The sparkling crown was sat on the small desk, the lamp turned off, seeming as if someone didn't want it to be seen. But in Randy's eyes it was beautiful, and in Codys eyes it would be even more beautiful on Randy. Pharoah came trotting in from the bathroom, most likely laying on the cool tiles. The husky spotted Randy quite quickly as he walked over to him, tail wagging. Randy let out a deep chuckle, slightly bending down to pet Pharoah before he stood straight up and looked towards Cody, who had finally noticed him.
"Hey, Codes. You didn't tell me you were leaving, you ok?" Randy's voice was softer than usual; it was always softer with Cody. He walked over and crawled into the bed, Pharoah following closely behind him. Cody nodded, letting out a soft hum as Pharoah curled up at the end of the bed, slowly falling asleep.
Randy laid down in the bed, dragging Cody down with him as he let out a laugh at the surprised yelp Cody let out. He wrapped his arms around the younger man's waist, burying his face in Codys neck. Randy let out a content sigh as Codys body finally relaxed in his arms. Though this wasn't home, this was as comfortable as they were going to get.
"I'm proud of you. I don't care about that crown baby, I care about you." Randy mumbled into Cody's neck, his voice growing more tired by the second. Cody let out a soft sigh, nodding slightly. He understood what Randy met, and why he said it. Randy had his other ways to get title shots, and so does Cody. Plus, it's all apart of their story. They do this for each other.
"Even if you think the crown doesn't fit, it does. Your highness."
