Work Text:

“I’m sorry I’m late, someone was being...fussy.” Said little girl puffed her cheeks angrily huffing.

She didn’t want to come here, unknown best to her father.

Sakura overheard her dad mentioning that there wouldn’t be any kids considering most of his work colleagues either had teenagers, were fully grown adults or none.

As far as she knew she was the youngest one here, so what was the point of going to work with him if she couldn’t play with anyone.

Fugaku waves his hand letting him off, he’s dealt with this twice so he understood. He bends down to the girl’s level giving her one of his rare smiles.

He had been lectured in the past by his wife to put on a ‘friendlier’ face as he tends to scare children with his glare.

“So, what’s your name?”

“Sakura.”

“And how old are you?”

“Six.” She proudly proclaims.

“That is a big number,” he smiles fondly. “Sasuke is about the same age as you, except he turns six in July.” Which was only two months away.

He beckons the two to follow him and leads them to his office.

Which was now messed up with important documents everywhere as well as colouring on the walls.

Sasuke laid flat on the floor dramatically completely bored.

He sighs, hoping that some company will keep him distracted.

Unfortunately, Itachi was sick, so couldn’t keep Sasuke amused like he usually would when bringing the boys along.

As they were going to be the next ones running the company, he didn't see any issue with them visiting occasionally.

Hearing the door open Sasuke looks up to see his father and walks over to him tugging his clothing.

“I’m bored.”

“I can see that,” he glances again around the room but shakes his head. “Well good news Sasuke, I have a job for you.” The boy’s eyes sparkle in excitement.

“This is Sakura, this is her first time here, so I need you to show her around. Can you do that for me?”

Sakura who had stood behind his leg peeked out and stared at the boy intently. So, she wasn’t the only kid.

At seeing her face, Sasuke was absolutely lovestruck. Her eyes were the prettiest he had seen and she had pretty pink hair, her face was cute too.

“Sure!” He beams taking hold of the girl’s hand and walking around the two fathers. Fugaku stood there completely stumped.

That wasn’t the reaction he expected.

“Huh...”

“What is it?” Kizashi questioned.

“I expected him to protest, Sasuke normally doesn’t like socialising, let alone with a girl.” It was rare to see him so enthusiastic about such a situation.

Kizashi laughed.

“Maybe he has a little crush on her?” Little did he know how right he was.

“When I grow older, I’ll be running this company along with my brother,” Sasuke said hoping to impress, she smiles and nods.

“How do you know where you’re going? This place is huge.”

“You get used to it, I come here with big brother a lot. Do you want to play?”

Sakura excitedly agrees and the two play tag and hide and seek throughout the building.

At least there were a lot of hiding places.

“I want to change schools,” Sasuke tells his father when the day was done.

“Why?” He looks at him befuddled.

“Because Sakura doesn’t go to my school.” Was the simple explanation his son gave.

Fugaku wasn’t sure how Kizashi would feel knowing that he was right. Weren’t fathers protective of their daughters?

Ah well.

“But I don’t want her to leave yet.” The boy pouts refusing to let go of her hand.

“She can visit tomorrow, Sasuke, she can’t stay here with us.” Mikoto kindly tells him, while she finds it adorable how much of a liking Sasuke has taken it was really draining on explaining to him that Sakura leaving wouldn’t be the last time he sees her.

“Yeah, I’ll come back tomorrow after school,” Sakura tells him and it’s only when she tells him does he accept it.

He always listens to Sakura.

“What’s a boyfriend?” A little Sasuke asked an Itachi and Shisui. He grinned.

“Oh, this is going to be fun.” Itachi shakes his head.

~~~
“So you see Sakura is my girlfriend and I’m her boyfriend.” The Uchiha explained to Naruto. The blonde tilted his head.
“But wouldn’t that also mean that I’m her boyfriend too? She’s a girl who’s my friend, and I’m a boy who’s also her friend.” At that, the two seemed to think and nodded.
“That would also mean Sasuke-Kun and Naruto are boyfriends.” Yeah, that made sense, and as such cue the awkward situations of the three explaining that they were ‘boyfriends’ and ‘girlfriend.’
Oh how cutely naïve they were.
Although Sasuke would have preferred to be Sakura’s only boyfriend.
“What adorable children.” Sakura’s grandmother coos at the three.
“They are my boyfriends,” Sakura explained to her grandmother.
“I…I beg your pardon dear?”
“Sasuke-Kun and Naruto are my boyfriends, they are also each other’s boyfriends too.” The girl explained like it was so simple.
Her grandmother just stood there stunned, maybe they were just pretending.
After all, they were far too young for actual relationships.
“Ne ne, grandma how many boyfriends do you have? You must have hundreds.” She must have ton considering how old she was. Surprisingly the grandma just laughed and nodded along.
“Oh yes, you could say that.”
Kizashi on the other hand was not finding this amusing.
“WHO’S BEEN TEACHING YOU THAT?! YOU ARE FAR TOO YOUNG!”
 At age fifteen Sakura still never had an actual boyfriend. She didn’t understand why no one asked her out.
Was she that bad?
Did she smell bad?
Sakura leaned into Sasuke’s chest, sitting in-between his legs as he leaned on the tree venting to him. It was always like this in one form or another at school.
Holding hands, leaning onto the other’s body, always in their personal space.
Friends and classmates hardly believed they were just friends as Sakura would put it, although it was clear as day how much the Uchiha liked her.
“I just don’t get. I mean what do they think they’re too good for me?” The boy smirked amused at how she doesn’t see what they do.
“No, you’re just stupid.”
“Excuse me?” He merely just flicked her forehead.
‘Have you ever considered that maybe just maybe you have a crush on him, forehead?’
‘No, don’t be ridiculous.’ It was an obscure thought. They were just friends.
‘Hmm, okay then what if he got a girlfriend one day.’ At that Sakura’s heart shattered.
‘What?’
‘Ha! See, friend my ass. You like him but are just too stubborn to admit it.’
Sakura couldn’t help but keep replaying Ino’s words over and over again.
It felt like a stab to the heart. Sure, Sasuke had a huge fan club but the thought of him having a girlfriend somehow made her queasy.
And well, with Sasuke currently resting his head on her lap probably didn’t help.
Her thoughts and feelings were all over the place. A light touch to her face brought her out of the trance.
“You’ve been unusually quiet today. Is there something wrong?”
‘All I’m saying is, you’re going to need to tell him sooner than later. We’re going to graduate soon. You and Sasuke won’t stay together forever.’
And what if someone confesses? And he spends less and less time with her as she watches the bride walk down the aisle to Sasuke. And then she'll ban her and Sasuke from ever seeing each other and-
She shook her head, huh Ino was right. The Haruno did have a creative imagination.
“Can you promise me something Sasuke?”
“Hmm?” She took hold of his hand that was still resting on her cheek.
“Promise me, you won’t let your girlfriend come in between us.”
“My what?”
“Girlfriend, we’re going to graduate soon. And I know as soon as you get out, you’ll be flooded with confessions.”
“That doesn’t mean I’ll accept them.” What was going on through Sakura’s head?
“I’m being serious here Sasuke.”
“Well, what if I want you to be my girlfriend then?” He watched her expression carefully, couldn’t she see she was the only one for him.
Her eyes widened taking in his words.
“What?”
“I’m hardly being subtle Sakura.” He never was, Sakura was a hard girl to impress.
Whilst most girls would swoon from the fact he was to take his father’s company, get the highest grades and was captain of the football team.
Sakura didn’t seem to care, she just saw him as Sasuke.
“Oh...” She blushed trying to hide her face away. But it was too late, he smirked and brought her face down for their lips to meet.
‘Finally,’ he thinks.
The place was huge was the first thing the little blonde thought as he looked around. He couldn’t find his father anywhere.
The boy suddenly came across another kid his age, she had dark hair with the same dark eyes.
Maybe she would play with him and with that went over to introduce himself. However, when he got to her his face blushed.
He didn’t expect her to be so pretty. They defiantly had to be friends now.
“Hi, I’m Boruto-”
“Nope, not happening.” Sasuke picked up his little girl heading back into his office.
The man came out of nowhere and Boruto had no idea what happened.
“Oi, what's that supposed to mean.” Oh, so this was where his father was.
“Daddy!” He hugged his leg thankful he finally found him whilst he continued to shout about ‘what do you mean? Is my son not good enough for your daughter?’
Whatever that meant.
~~~

Sarada paid no mind to the yelling and continued to draw.

She was far too young for boyfriends, that was for sure. Sasuke thought. Let alone it being Naruto’s son of all people.

Still, he knew he couldn’t stop if it was meant to be. For now, at least she was still his baby girl.
