Work Text:
EVERYWHERE I'D LET HER
“Enjoy your weekend, Angels! I’m off.” Charlie’s voice echoes throughout the office, something in his tone different from the usual. “Let’s hope it’s a long one.” Bosley quips, and there are sounds of agreement from all three of the Angels. Sabrina tilts her head then, curious. “Well, you sound rather excited, Charlie. Got plans of your own?” She asks, raising her eyebrows at the others. “Let’s just say I’ll be rather… occupied, Angel.” Charlie replies, then bids them goodbye. The girls exchange knowing looks with one another, amused at what Charlie’s plans likely are.
“Right,” Sabrina claps her hands together. “Wanna come over and hang at my place? I could whip something up for us.” Jill politely declines, saying she’s already made plans with her sister, as does Bosley, who has family matters to attend to. Kelly stands up at that, grabbing her bag. “Looks like it’s just you and me, Bri.” She smiles, patting her arm. Sabrina pointedly ignores the way her heart flips at the contact. She gets up as well, waving at Jill and Bosley who remain. “Too bad,” she throws over her shoulder. “You’ll be missing out.”
“Next time, Bri, promise!” Jill calls out just as she and Kelly make their way into the hallway.

The drive to Sabrina’s apartment is quiet, bar the sounds of the birds from outside, the soft revving of the engine, and the occasional small talk. They’ve been alone before, just the two of them, so this is nothing new. But with the feelings Sabrina has found herself suppressing for the last few months or so, something about this time feels different. But she tries to shake that feeling, focusing for now on getting home.
When they arrive, Kelly immediately makes herself comfortable on the couch, crossing her arms behind her head. Sabrina, on the other hand, takes to the kitchen to make a quick meal, as promised. “What’re you feeling today? Pasta? Chicken?” She asks, rummaging through the cabinets. “Pasta sounds fine.” Kelly replies, sitting up. “But we don’t have to eat now, y’know? Maybe later for lunch.”
Sabrina pauses and looks back at her friend. “Oh, alright. Good idea. Coffee, then?” Kelly smiles, “Yes, please.”
Kelly watches as Sabrina shuffles around the kitchen, grabbing mugs here and looking for the creamer there. She smiles, a wave of fondness washing over her at the sight. “You know,” Sabrina starts. “Something about this last case is kinda bugging me.”
“What is it?” Kelly frowns. “Nothing big, really, just has to do with what business Maggie had with President Truman. She says they weren’t friends. They weren’t really up to anything suspicious, nor were they having an affair.”
“Yeah, I was curious about that, too.” Kelly nods. Sabrina stands still for a moment, seemingly thinking. A moment later, she speaks up. “I took notes on that, actually. It’s in a diary I keep for work. Would you mind grabbing it for me, Kelly, dear? It’s on the desk in my bedroom.”
“Sure,” Kelly stands and makes her way to Sabrina’s room. Scanning around the room, she takes in her surroundings. The bed is neatly made, but almost too neatly, Kelly notes. It’s as though it hasn’t been slept in. The desk is tidy, save for a few papers scattered around. Kelly skips over those and searches for the diary Sabrina asked for. To her confusion, she spots two identical journals laid out next to one another. She stares at them for a moment, unsure of which one to pick up for fear of accidentally uncovering something private.
Her hand decides for her, swiping up the one on the right. Kelly flips the notebook open, trying to see if this is indeed the notebook filled with notes regarding all of their past cases. She browses through it, finding nothing at first. Then she stops at a certain page, her eyes barely catching the writing at first. She glances around, then turns back to the paper, running her fingers over it. This diary, it isn’t for work, Kelly realizes. It’s a personal diary. She knows this is wrong, and it’s extremely invasive of Sabrina’s privacy, but somehow, she can’t help herself. As she skims over the words, her heart stops at a specific passage, written in neat cursive: “...and then come the thoughts I wouldn’t dare confess to anyone. I want to hold her, tuck her hair behind her ear, snake an arm around her waist, put my hand on her cheek, and I want her to hold me, too, wrap her arms around my neck, nuzzle her forehead against mine, kiss me everywhere I’d let her — I want to be close to her, physically.”
As she falls seated onto the bed, shocked, she briefly wonders who it could be that’s making Sabrina feel this way. A sudden thought pops up in her head, and she feels a pang of jealousy. Jealousy at the thought that Sabrina feels this way about someone else. Someone that isn’t her. But then she continues to scan the page, and she catches a glimpse of a scribble that looks like her name. Just as quickly as it came, the jealousy seems to fly out of the window as a realization dawns on her. Was this written about me? Kelly thinks. For a while she sits on Sabrina’s bed, bewildered; she almost forgets what she came into the room for.
“Kel? Everything alright back there?” Sabrina’s voice pulls her out of her daze, and Kelly quickly puts the diary back in its place, picking up the one beside it. “Yeah, it’s alright. I got the diary.” Kelly replies, trying hard to sound unaffected, as though she hasn’t just made a jarring discovery. As though she hasn’t just gotten the confirmation that her feelings for Sabrina have been mutual all this time.
Calming herself, she walks back out into the kitchen where Sabrina stands behind the counter with two mugs of coffee in hand. She hands one to Kelly, and Kelly gives her the diary. Oblivious to the slight change in Kelly’s demeanor, she quickly flips through the pages until she finds what she needs. “Ah, here.” Sabrina mumbles as she reads through her scribbles. “She didn’t vote for him, either. So what was their deal?”
Kelly engages in the conversation, but it’s all on autopilot. Her mind is too clouded to really focus on what Sabrina is saying about Maggie; the writing she discovered is all she can think about. She tries to snap herself out of it, but it’s in vain.
Soon, they put the matter to rest, deciding it’s a trivial matter – which it is. Whatever Maggie’s business was with the former president wouldn’t have had any impact on the outcome of the case anyway. So they fall quiet, each left to their own thoughts as they drink the coffee Sabrina had brewed up for them both. Kelly mulls over whether or not she should broach the subject with her. On the one hand, she can confront her right away and get this conversation over with. On the other hand, she can pretend she never saw anything and only delay the inevitable. She scoffs to herself. The choice is obvious here.
Kelly slowly makes her way around the counter until she’s right in front of Sabrina, putting her mug down. “Bri..” she treads carefully, unsure of how to start. “Yes?” Sabrina lets go of her own mug as well, giving Kelly her full attention.
She lets out a sigh to brace herself, and then she speaks. “Bri, I hope you won’t be angry at me for this, but when I went in there to grab your diary, I accidentally picked up the, um, the wrong one.” Kelly pauses, gauging Sabrina’s reaction. Kelly can pinpoint the moment she realizes, but Sabrina says nothing. So she goes on, “Now, I promise I didn’t see anything. I had only made it through one page before I figured it wasn’t the right one.” A half-lie, but that doesn’t really matter. “Only… that page, the one I did see, I saw what was on it, and-”
“You read it?” Sabrina asks, but there’s no hint of accusation in her tone. Nevertheless, Kelly regrets snooping all over again. “I didn’t mean to, I swear to you, but I couldn’t help it.” She says, surprisingly calm. Immediately Sabrina knows which page Kelly is referring to. A beat, another. “I saw what was on it.” Kelly repeats. “And if you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine. We can pretend this never happened. But, Sabrina, I want to know.” Kelly wills herself to look into Sabrina’s eyes, only to find that she’s already staring at her. “Do you, perhaps, have feelings for me?”
Sabrina purses her lips at the question. For a moment, she considers dropping the subject altogether, considers running from it. But she throws the thought away, deciding that Kelly doesn’t deserve that. What use is denying anything if she’s seen it all? She smiles sadly, never breaking eye contact. “Guilty.”
“I’ve been harboring these strong feelings for you lately, and at first I didn’t recognize what they were. But somewhere down the line, I realized they were neither friendly nor sisterly.” She starts, mustering up all the courage she has left in her. “It started out as a crush. There were days I thought you looked especially pretty, my heart would flip in my ribcage every time you smiled at me, and every time you touched me I felt like I was going crazy. But then these feelings grew, and it occurred to me that it was more than just an infatuation.” Kelly feels like her own heart is bursting out of her chest, and she makes no effort to bite down the smile threatening to creep onto her face.
“So, yes, Kelly. I have feelings for you. In fact, I’m completely in love with you. Even I couldn’t believe it at first, but that’s what it is.”
Kelly takes a careful but purposeful step into Sabrina’s space, looking into her eyes with what can only be described as great fondness. She reaches up to tuck some of Sabrina’s hair behind her ear, resting her hand on her shoulder. “Where?” She asks.
Sabrina frowns so deeply upon hearing the question that Kelly has to stop herself from laughing at the sight. “Where what?” Sabrina is confused; she’s just laid herself bare in front of Kelly, and that’s all she has to say? Where? “If I remember correctly,” Kelly starts, clearly amused. “There was a bit in there where you said you wanted me to kiss you everywhere you’d let me. Where?”
Oh.
Oh.
Sabrina understands immediately. She calls to mind the specific line Kelly references, and she chuckles. “Well, my cheek, for starters.” Kelly then leans in and gently plants a kiss on her right cheek. Sabrina’s breath hitches at the contact, and when Kelly doesn’t move away, she realizes she’s waiting for her to continue.
“My nose, too,” Sabrina closes her eyes as she feels Kelly’s lips land on the tip of her nose. “And my forehead,” Another kiss. “My temple, too, if you will.” Kelly chuckles at that, then kisses her again. Sabrina hesitates to say the next one, but she goes for it anyway. “My neck, too.” Eyes still closed, she feels Kelly move downward, and she almost gasps when Kelly’s lips meet her neck, lingering a moment too long. “And then, my, um.. my collarbone.” Sabrina adds, but it comes out sounding like a question. Her heart beats impossibly faster, and she tries to look at anything but Kelly as she pushes the fabric of her blouse to the side, kissing her protruding clavicle. Sabrina’s head is reeling from each kiss Kelly plants on her skin, and she mourns the loss of contact every time she pulls away.
Then she stops. Kelly stays where she is, as if she were waiting for Sabrina to move on. “And.. well, you know.” Sabrina says tentatively, testing the waters. Kelly noses at her collarbone, taking in the scent of vanilla. This elicits a shudder from Sabrina. “No, I’m afraid I don’t.” Kelly teases.
Sabrina chuckles, making no effort to hide her nervousness. “You know.” Kelly pulls away from her collarbone, but she stops just as her nose grazes Sabrina’s. Sabrina puts a gentle hand on Kelly’s shoulder. A pause. “Kelly… If this isn’t going to mean anything to you then maybe we shouldn’t–”
Kelly cuts her off, “You didn’t think to tell me that when I started kissing you?” She asks, a smile evident in her tone. “Well, no, you sort of caught me off guard there, and I couldn’t think.” Sabrina replies, another nervous chuckle escaping her. “But Kelly, I mean it. I don’t–” Kelly interrupts her again with her own hands on Sabrina’s cheeks, gently caressing. “Bri, if I’m being honest with you, that little diary entry of yours said everything I’ve been thinking these last few months.” She confesses.
Sabrina’s eyes widen ever so slightly. “Wha- you mean you…?”
Kelly simply nods, “I do.”
She kisses her then, square on the mouth. The kiss is soft, and Kelly is gentle, waiting patiently for her to move against her. Slowly, Sabrina closes her eyes and lets herself melt into the touch. She tastes hints of coffee, and she parts her lips slightly to deepen the kiss. This is everything she has ever wanted, she realizes, and she wraps her arms around Kelly’s waist with no intention of letting go.
Sabrina turns them sideways, lifting Kelly up onto the counter in one swift move. Kelly’s hands wander up and tangle themselves in the other’s hair, pulling Sabrina flush against her. Sabrina’s hands rest on her hips, stroking them in a circular motion with her thumbs. Kelly feels all the heat rush through her, her heart rate concerningly high at this point. They pull away for air, and Sabrina has a look of awe etched onto her features, drinking in the sight of Kelly’s tousled curls, parted lips, and her half-open hazel eyes. Sabrina recognizes the look of want in them. “God, you’re beautiful.” She whispers.
Kelly kisses her again, her arms resting upon Sabrina’s shoulders. The sensation is addicting, the adrenaline rush akin to that when on a rollercoaster. Kelly feels like she could get lost in it. But Sabrina pulls away again, and Kelly feels their breathing sync. “You’re in love with me?” Sabrina asks, just to make sure.
“I am.” Kelly replies. “Very much so.”
Sabrina leaves a peck on her lips and smiles, breathless. Kelly mirrors her grin, pressing their foreheads together. “Are you satisfied?” She asks, and Sabrina laughs.
“Yes. Very much so.”
