all's fair in love and war

Summary:

Kokomi wasn't quite sure how Kujou Sara, the woman who seemed to hate her more than anything, had wound up bleeding out infront of her very eyes, but she has.

Now, her very life was in her palms and Kokomi wanted nothing more than to care for it. It's not like that feeling was out of the ordinary for her, though.

Just as quickly as Sara had shown up at her base, it had escalated into something much more.

Work Text:

Kokomi had just recently arrived back to her base after a long meeting, tucked away in a corner of a moutain circled by multiple different variations of purple and green trees. The skies above were a beautiful shade of blue and light pink, as the sun had just began to rise. She had stayed overnight discussing terms with a couple of Vision Hunt Decrees loyal members, and she was barely awake.

She found peace in her hideaway, knowing nobody could reach her here. No hoards of silly requests, and no crowds of citizens surrounding her. Just quiet.

Well, atleast a moment ago it was. As she approached the jagged entrance of the cave, a multitude of sharp — almost painful sounding breaths could be heard from just around the corner.

This quickly adverted her attention, as she took a soft turn and headed towards the strange sounds. “Hm? Hello?” Kokomi called out, yet she got no answer. She halted for a moment, considering whether or not she was walking straight into a trap. It was a possibility, but nobody knew about this spot, atleast from what she was able to recall.

Besides, no way in Teyvat would Kokomi ever let a injured a person die in her hands, espically not when they’ve stumbled upon her base in search of help.

So, that decided it. Kokomi placed the couple of books down that she had been tightly holding against her chest onto the grass and took a few slow advances forward.

Once she finally turned the corner, she was met with the sight of her so called sworn enemy, Kujou Sara herself, curled over and bloodied. Suddenly, Kokomi was very awake at the very sight of ssomebody like her in this state. Or maybe, it was simply the sight of her doing this.

Sara glanced up, fear striking her eyes while Kokomi crouched down to her knees to be on the same eye-level with her. She made a weak attempt to get away, but she quickly stopped herself as the moment Sara moved, pain spread even further through her torso as she groaned.

“C - Come to finish me off..?” Sara struggled as she spoke, wrapping her arm tighter around her side in a attempt to slow the bloodflow that spilled out. Blood had stained her clothing and clung to her skin, alongside very obvious bruising scattered across her face.

Brushing her comment aside, Kokomi wasn’t sure why she did it, but she outstretched her hand and gently brushed her knuckles aross the wounds on Sara’s face. She flinched at this sudden touch, her bruises were still fresh. “Hm. What happened?” As much as their views opposed eachother, she found it immoral to abadon Sara out here just because of her loyality to the Shogun.

Further down in her mind, Kokomi knew she was still a good person, regardless of their current postions against eachother. Sara didn’t seem to know this, though. Suprise spread across her face at Kokomi’s question, even possibly shock.

Her voice was shakey and hurting as she answered, “Should… shouldn’t you know? It w - was one of your people, afterall.”

Kokomi tilted her head to the side in confusion at this claim, knowing very well she hadn’t ordered any of her soldiers to act against Sara. That was unimportant at the moment, though, as she was much more worried about her current condition. With a soft sigh, she knew she would atlot of energy to this.

“I wasn’t.. actually aware of such. Very well, follow me. Hopefully this doesn’t take up too much of my time.” She spoke in a much softer tone than usual, as she rose to her feet. Kokomi didn’t bother to try and defend her people at the moment, as Sara very clearly wasn’t in the state to understand anything at the moment.

Sara didn’t make a effort to move, though. She only glanced up at Kokomi, pain glazing over her eyes. Luckily, she quickly took notice of the fact Sara wouldn’t be able to get up on her own as she extended her arm out and wrapped her hand around Sara’s, pulling her up.

She whined, stumbling into Kokomi a bit as she desperately clutched onto the gash in her side, forcing the wound to reopen as the hurt worsened in her body once again. Wine red blood smeared across Kokomi’s own clothes as this unfolded, but she paid it no mind as they limped into the entrace of the cave.

As often as she healed people, she had long gotten used to dirtying her clothes in the process.

“Sit over there, I’ll be just a moment.” Kokomi instructed her on what to do by herself, despite the fact that she was actively helping Sara to the table where she wanted her to sit.

Once Sara was sat down on the tabletop, Kokomi left her and moved her attention to a shelf just beside where the two of them were.

She shuffled through multiple bins, hurriedly searching around in fear that Sara may bleed out if she isn’t quick enough. Finally pulling out a roll of bandage and a cloth, she headed towards a sink in the opposite corner.

Quickly flicking the fossit on, she drenched the cloth rag in water before turning it off and turning back around, heading towards Sara again.

“Very well, I need you to move your arm,” She tapped the underside of forearm, indicating for her to allow her to properly inspect the wound. Hesitantly, Sara slowly moved her arm though she quickly stopped, wincing in pain. From the very little she could see, Kokomi could quite easily tell the injury came from a sword.

Starting to unroll the bandages, she lightly nudged Sara’s arm out the way. “I wouldn’t send any of my troops directly after you,” Kokomi paused, pursing her lips as she finally got her arm to budge. She squinted her eyes in disbelief at the beter sight of the slice, a small gasp escaping her lips.

Her voice multiple tones softer, mostly due to her shock, she finished her though. “I hope you know that, Kujou Sara.”

It was a clean cut from what she could tell through Sara shirt, whoever had inflicted it has clearly been trained to do so. Maybe she was telling the truth? Because surely, one of her own soldiers wouldn’t do such a thing?

Normally, Kokomi would never doubt her own soldiers in such a way, or ever assume they’d ever do something like this. But, this was much different from ‘normally’. Sara was a honest person, and she was well aware of that.

She was placing quite alot of trust into a woman who opposed alot of her beliefs, but she knew she could.

Briefly tracing her fingers against her waist, Kokomi shook her head to knock the slighest amount of sense into herself. “I need you to.. lift up your shirt a bit.” She couldn’t help but appear a bit flustered with such a crude ask, but it was the only way she’d be able to properly do this.

Much to her suprise, Sara did not object whatsoever as she made a attempt to move her shirt out of the way, though she quickly stopped halfway, shuddering in pain. With a sharp inhale, she prepared herself to finish moving it up.

“Sorry.” A subtle stutter could be heard in her voice as she spoke, but Kokomi wouldn’t dare point it out. Sara grabbed at her shirt again, pulling it up just below her chest to reveal the wound with a small struggle.

Kokomi sighed in relief, as the cut didn’t look as nearly as bad as she expected it to be, Sara wouldn’t need stitches. Feeling as though a large weight had been lifted of her shoulders, she felt a tad more comfterable speaking now. “This might hurt, just a warning.” She mentioned, glancing up to Sara’s face for a split second.

The only response she got in return was a curt nod as Sara braced herself, making a attempt to erase the pain from her expression and to straighten her face.

With her permission now, Kokomi gently pushed the rag against the slash, tidying up the blood that had previously spilled out of it. The moment they made contact, Sara groaned, desperately looking for something to hang onto, she settled on Kokomi’s free upper arm.

”Fuck.” Sara snarled, digging her nails deep into her skin, leaving faint red marks in their wake. So, quickly, she hurried along with cleaning the wound. “Apologies, Kujou.”

It didn’t take all that long after she made it a point to move quicker with cleaning it. “Why are you doing this?” She muttered, barely coherent. Kokomi didn’t answer for a moment, instead going to place the now bloodied rag in the sink.

As she stood in the corner, hovering over her small makeshift sink she had. Turning her head back towards Sara slightly, sighing lightly, “Doing what?

Kokomi created a illusion of her innocence, pretending as though she had not a clue what Sara had meant by that. Maybe then, just maybe she wouldn’t have to look past her false hate for Sara, and into the reality of her feelings.

Despite her efforts, but not much to her suprise, Sara through directly through it all. “You know very well what — helping me like this and all,” With one hand staying hovering over her still unbanadged wound, the free one went to facepalm her forehead in annoyance.

“I mean, I thought you hated me!” Sara’s voice had began to raise as Kokomi strided back over from the sink, preparing to wrap up her waist. She only hummed, picking up the previously unwrapped banadge and beginning to line it up with the cut.

Once Kokomi had decided it was perfectly lined up had she spoke again. Sara had already singlehandily ripped down her defenses, as usual, so she felt no point in trying to keep it up. “I do not hate you, Kujou Sara. I never have, and I don’t think I ever can.”

This seems to completely shake Sara, leaving her to try and decifer what exactly she had meant. Kokomi had since began to wrap the bandadges around her, not bothering to wait for her to figure out just quite what she had meant.

When the cloth bandages made contact with the wound, Sara shuddered for a moment, before quickly straightening herself out again. Seemingly, she refused to show any form of weakness to Kokomi since she became slightly more consious.

“What do you mean by that? We’re on opposing sides of a war, how could you not?” Sara’s voice kept the same agressiveness from before, just barely a hair away from scolding her.

Kokomi’s shoulders slumped slightly, just enough for Sara to notice it before she quickly returned to her previous posture.

“You are loyal to the Shogun — that is all. I know you are a caring person, regardless of where your loyalties may lay.” Kokomi sighed.

“Where are you going with this, Kokomi?”

“I find you quite interesting, really. Perhaps in another world, I could find comfort in our relationship, Kujou Sara.”

To this, Sara didn’t respond, completely dumbfounded. Simply blinking at the woman who stood infront of her, bandaging her wounds at her own will.

Only then had something clicked inside Sara’s head, her eyes lighting up. She fought the urge to stand up in shock, as Kokomi’s delicate hands still were at work on her waist.

Oh — Oh.

Sara stayed silent, yet a thousand thoughts were racing through her head at the moment. Her eyes flickered up to where Kokomi stood, then to her face that had a focused look painted onto it.

Her skilled hands wrapped off the bandage, seeming to have finished doing so while Sara was focused on something much different.

“Very well, you can fix your shirt n‐” Kokomi had been mid-signaling her to do so, when Sara had grabbed her face in desperation and pulled Kokomi’s lips to hers.

Despite the boldness of the action, the moment their lips touched it became gentle, even genuine, maybe.

Kokomi briefly hesitated before truly kissing her back, sending Sara spiraling in her own mind yet she held the same position. After the split second of quick hesitation, Kokomi returned the gesture. Once their lips slided together, it felt as though the stars and Teyvat itself had made them to fit together perfectly.

Even though their kiss was short-lived, Sara savoured every moment of Kokomi’s hands around her waist and her breath against hers. Her hands slip away from her wound she had still been holding to around Kokomi’s neck, using their new found position as a leverage to pull them closer together.

Just about as quickly as it started, it ended as Kokomi pulled away with a soft whimper for air. Sara blinked her eyes open in return, staring at her with newly flushed cheeks. Breaking their eye contact, she rested her head down onto Sara’s shoulder and breathed into her neck, sending shivers down her spine.

“Kujou Sara..” Kokomi spoke lightly, barely audible as she whispered it into Sara’s ear.

“Stop calling me that. Just – just call me Sara,” She exhaled, going to hover one of her hands over Kokomi’s hair, as if still considering whether or not she should place it down. “Please.”

Sara’s words almost sounded like a plead, a hint of desperation in her voice.

Kokomi nodded, placing a few small kisses onto wherever she could reach from where she had laid. “Very well, Sara.” Her voice was sweet like honey as she spoke her name, her hands ghosting over her waist before eventually landing further down on her hips.

Suddenly, Sara’s hands moved from her hair down to her chin, moving her face to be lined up with hers and inched closer. Catching her lips in hers once more, this kiss was just as tender as the last one.

This time, Kokomi was the one to deepen the kiss as she made a attempt to get even closer to her, pulling Sara forward by her hips till they were almost completely pressed together.

For a brief moment, they parted again though neither of them spoke. With their now awfully awkward position, Sara pulled her into her lap with a small groan as Kokomi’s knee hit her side where the cut had been placed.

“Sorry!” Kokomi spared no time as she quickly apologized, before Sara interuppeted her as her head dipped down to her throat and quickly placed a soft bite right above her collar bone. This drew a delicious whine out of Kokomi, as she wrapped her arms around Sara’s neck.

“Mm? Did that hurt?” Sara asked with a small giggle, placing multiple long kisses onto the blossoming mark on her neck as a silent apology.

She shook her head gently, staring down at Sara for a brief moment as she spoke. “No, no its just – ah–” Kokomi was cut off once more as Sara found a new spot on her neck and pressed her lips onto it, leaving a much lighter bite into a clean spot.

Burying her face into Sara’s shoulder closest to her in a attempt to quiet her whimpers, Kokomi let out a small sigh while trying to catch her breath. “W-wait, Sara, you should really rest before we..” Her sentence trailed off as she squeezed her eyes shut.

“’Before we’….?” Sara said with a smug smile as she teased Kokomi, she knew very well what she meant by that.

“I should really bring you to a proper doctor, I don’t have the right supplies to truly help you down here.” She ignored Sara’s question in slight embarrasment, speaking much more coherently as she had finally let up on her neck. “There’s one not too far from us, really.”

Kokomi placed her hands down onto Sara’s upper thighs in order to lift herself off of the table where they sat, but it also got a small suprised sound out of her, which Kokomi would do absolutely anything to hear again later.

She reached out a hand to help Sara down, devouring the look of her red lips and lightly flushed face. With that sight, Kokomi could only wonder what she must look like currently, after that.

Once Sara’s heels hit the grassy floor below, she quickly fixed her shirt back into its previous place. The blood had still stained her shirt horribly, but she couldn’t be bothered to head back to her home and change. They were heading to a doctor, anyhow, so in the end it truly didn’t matter much.

When she finished focusing on her shirt and looked back up to Kokomi, whom’s hand was still in hers, she quickly had to hide a giggle behind her free hand at the sight of her neck. Before she got a chance to point it out, Kokomi was already pulling her along out of the cave in order to find her proper care — or at the very least, proper supplies to do so.

“You know, I still don’t know who attacked me, since it must’ve not been one of your people.” Sara sighed, shielding her eyes with one hand as they stepped outside into the harsh summer day light that flooded down onto them.

“We will find them soon, dear. First, I want you fully healed before you rush into anything.”

With that, still hand in hand, the pair walked (Sara more so limped, but still.) off the moutain, onto the journey of finding a doctor more currently suited to help her. Despite Kokomi’s efforts to comfort her about it, Sara’s mind still buzzed with thoughts of who could’ve done this, but she knew she would find them fast, and soon.
