Work Text:
Everyone has something they want to achieve in life. It doesn’t matter if it’s a little childhood dream or a worldchanging idea they want to pursue. Maybe they want fame, comfort, or maybe it is love. Love is a feeling everyone is capable of feeling someday. Love pushes us to do things we never thought we were able to do, things we never dared to do alone.
Love is found where comfort lies. It's a place one wants to return to often, a place one would feel at home. It's like the warmth of the sun, embracing you in a comforting hug. It's a light in one's darkness, filling up the heart with hope and happiness. With purpose.
Space is dark. A vast sea of nothingness covering the universe. But darkness is not only on the outside – darkness lies within one's heart that lacks purpose.
Who is Venus? It's a question he had no answer to. A question he never actually had thought about, because it didn't matter. His heart was dark, but it didn't matter. It never mattered because there was light. A light he held onto. A light he always saw in front of him and never wanted to let go off. A light he always followed.
Theia was his light. Her smile, her laughs, her voice. It was perfect. It was all that mattered. It filled his heart with light, with purpose. She was his purpose. He needed her.
He would do anything for Theia. He would go anywhere for Theia. He would dare anything for Theia. He would risk anything for Theia. He would do it. Just for Theia. Just for the light. The light that was his purpose. The purpose she granted him for his acts of kindness. The purpose she always gave him for being there with her. The purpose she awarded him for change. He had to change. For her to talk, for her to laugh, for her to smile – only for her. He always changed. Just for Theia.
“She is way off your orbit.”
It sometimes felt distant. The light he always followed was fading away. Every orbit, slowly moving away. Away from the sun. Into the dark. The darkness consumed the light, bit by bit. Every orbit. It ate away his light. He had to act. He had to save her.
A love's bond is strong. It's strong when both sides hold on. If one lets go, the bond will break. A broken bond won't hold on long, and the ground might break. And one might fall. Fall down into darkness. So hold on and don't let go.
And it was time. Time to strengthen the bond.
She always gave him her light. Her light was his purpose. He was thankful. Thankful for her light. She must know that. He must let her know that he's thankful. Thankful for her smile, her laughs, her talks. They filled his heart with light. A light he wished, no, needed to have. To have for the rest of time. To shine bright forever. For him.
Wasn't that clingy? Selfish? Selfish to be wanting to have something for himself? For the rest of time?
He just wanted to thank her. Just wanted to let her know about his gratitude. His gratitude would make her happy. It would make her shine. Shine bright forever. It wasn't selfish. He always thought that, but now was not the time. Because it was time to strengthen the bond. Don't let go.
Venus was ready. Ready to strengthen the bond. His bond with Theia. A bond that would last forever. She'd love it. She'd love him. Just as much as he loved her, needed her. Needed her to fulfill his purpose. Maybe he could be hers too…
Theia. She was there. Just a few minutes away. She was close. So close. He could feel her gravity. More than that. He could see her. Her smile, her laugh, her talking. She was close.
The light was close. Just reach out. Just take it. Take the chance. Strengthen your bond. Come on, come closer. The light was so close.
Her smile. Enchanting. Enlightening. He could see her smile. A smile she would always give him. A smile he would look at. Forever.
Is she smiling? But for who? Venus was right here. She was close, but a few minutes away. Why isn't she looking at him? Is that Proto-Earth?
Maybe they were just talking. Just joking. Without him. Theia was laughing. But not for Venus. Proto-Earth was there. She was laughing with him. Talking with him. They were talking together. Theia was talking with Proto-Earth.
Why is she talking with him? Theia was often talking with Proto-Earth. She was often leaving Venus for Proto-Earth. Leaving Venus alone. Leaving into the darkness. The light was fading. Slowly being consumed by the darkness.
But she didn't fight it. She didn't hesitate. She willingly left into the darkness. She willingly was consumed by the darkness. She liked it. She liked the darkness. The light found comfort in darkness. His darkness. Theia liked Proto-Earth.
Fool. You should have known. Known about Theia. Theia liked Proto-Earth. She liked him.
The bond was broken. Long ago. You should have known.
You're out of time. It was broken.
The light faded. It's not yours.
You are alone.
Fool.
Fall.
You're falling.
Falling into the darkness. Where you belong. Alone.
There's no one there. In darkness, you're alone. No comfort. No love.
You've lost her. You lost the light. Your purpose.
There is no purpose. No more purpose. You're alone with no purpose. In the darkness.
Fall. Fall already, you fool.

Maybe it was destiny. Love is where comfort is, where purpose is. Maybe the light found its purpose in darkness. The light chose darkness.
Was he not enough? Was Venus not enough? Were all his changes pointless? Was the light never a comfort to begin with? Was he changing for the wrong purpose? Was there a purpose?
Maybe there is no purpose in love. Maybe it's all pointless. Maybe that wasn't love.
There is no point in love. He had changed just for her. Just to find purpose. But there was no purpose. Because love is pointless. He did so much, and the light chose darkness. It was all pointless.
Pain. Love only brought pain. He thought it was a place he'd return to every time. A place of comfort, a place he'd feel welcomed in. He was wrong.
Love pushed him to do many things, but only pain made him realise the truth. The sad truth. The truth that love was pointless. That love had no purpose.
Love has no purpose. Maybe the light needed to realise that too. Maybe the light needed to feel the pain too. And realise the truth. The sad truth.
He knew what to do. It hurt. It was the pain that made him realise the truth. And soon the light will realise it too.
